Our membership offers young people and survivors a path to heal, learn digital skills and interactively participate in our Alchemic 369 Book Club, where members engage in weekly interactive discussions, debates and critical analysis of African, Caribbean and world history, Ifa, classics and political thought. To support our ambitious growth strategy both in Ghana and other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Sabre is seeking to recruit
1-2 new Africa-based trustees for our Board, in response to recent retirements.

The Trustee position is a voluntary role requiring a minimum of four formal Board meetings a year (half day each) and occasional other meetings or events as they arise. A minimum three-year commitment will be required.

Trustees are responsible for the overall strategic direction and oversight of the charity, and provide support and guidance to the strong management team, holding it accountable to agreed objectives. The Trustees also collectively ensure effective governance, and compliance with company and charity law. As the ultimate decision-makers, they ensure the charity fulfills its purpose and manages resources responsibly.

This is an active Trustee group. Individually, Trustees are expected to contribute their skills, knowledge and experience to guide the charity, and to further its objectives. Would you like to help tackle loneliness, one conversation at a time?

Loneliness and isolation can have devastating effects on a person’s mental and physical health. We are a registered charity providing a pathway of support to alleviate the hurt and distress, and the impact on mental and physical health, caused by loneliness and social isolation. 

The aim of face-to-face Individual Support is to provide in-person supportive social contact for people who are hurt by loneliness.

Volunteers support Friends (people who use our services) on a one-to-one basis. After completing training, volunteers will be linked with a Friend who they will phone for around one hour every two weeks. This is arranged at a mutually convenient time. 

We ask volunteers to think of this as a longer term volunteer role due to the training and time we take in order to give our volunteers, and Friends, the very best service. You will also need to consider occasional time spent in training for your role and for continuous development. 

For all our roles:

Due to our Safeguarding regulations, unfortunately we are only able to accept applications from UK residents. 

Enhanced DBS checks for working with vulnerable adults (formerly called criminal records bureau checks)  which we will organise (no cost to this) and two references are required.

For any roles involving driving Archway Friends, we will need to see evidence of insurance and driving license as well as MOT and tax documents for the vehicle to be used.

We will happily cover out of pocket expenses (eg mileage or costs for coffee out with Archway Friend).

The Role

This role focuses on building a strong network of individuals and organisations who can introduce creators, promote campaigns, or otherwise support the growth of Influential Stars.

UK Friends of the Parents Circle- Families forum (PC-FF) is looking for 3 new trustees to join the board.

Do you want to contribute to a ground-breaking charity working towards reconciliation in Israel and Palestine?  The Parents Circle-Families Forum is a jointly-run Palestinian/Israeli NGO that brings together, in expertly facilitated groups,  people from both sides who have been bereaved by the conflict.  Through the process, participants begin to understand the conflict from the standpoint of the other side. Members of the forum then work together in a variety of different dialogue, solidarity and community support projects. This year, the charity has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

The UK Friends of PC-FF raises money to support the work in Israel and Palestine, and also raises awareness of PC-FF's radical approach to reconciliation. 

Applications from people with legal, financial and fund-raising experience are particularly welcome but we would also love to hear from anybody who shares our deep commitment to PC-FF’s approach.  Meetings are held monthly (except August). Most of the meetings are online but once or twice a year, we meet in person, usually in London. Expenses for travel can be reimbursed. 

This flexible home volunteering role is worthwhile and rewarding. Make a real difference writing letters. As a Volunteer Penpal Writer you’ll be a key member of the Letterbox Team. Your letters will cheer someone up and establish a trusting, supportive relationship with a client who might be lonely or socially isolated.

What tasks can this role include (some or all of the following):

• Writing letters to clients
• Building trust and companionship with a client through correspondence. Omega befriends a variety of people including: caregivers, the lonely, isolated or people with ill-health.
• Liaising with the Letterbox Team by email or post.
• Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the policies and procedures that are necessary when befriending adults at risk.
• Making suggestions to help us improve the service we provide to clients and Volunteer Pen pal Writers.
