Organise each foodbank session and ensure each is run efficiently and to a high standard in accordance with the Trussell franchise and Arden Foodbank policies and procedures

Lead a short team briefing with volunteers at the beginning of each foodbank session and a short session review at the end

Ensure that the distribution centre is a safe place for all clients and volunteers, that safeguarding procedures are understood and implemented, and that client confidentiality is respected

Deal appropriately with incidents, unforeseen events, or any other issues

Monitor health and safety at each foodbank session and record accidents and near misses

Review stock levels at the end of each foodbank session and complete a restock order to replace food and other items given out at that session

Ensure all necessary information is accurately recorded on the Data Collection System and communicate with referral agencies in response to queries or issues arising from vouchers presented by clients

Provide the Foodbank Manager with a report at the end of each session and raise any concerns regarding the operation of the session, or the distribution centre

Undertake the training of volunteers as may be required

Studio Upstairs exists to transform lives through creativity. We have branches in Bristol and London. We are a trusted arts and mental health charity offering open studios and a creative community. We help people overcome challenges through therapeutic art practice and supportive peer interaction.

In addition to the full board meetings  there may be occasional committee meetings or meetings of specific task groups. It is expected that the Chair will also maintain regular contact with the Managing Director and other Board members.

The Board Meetings are to be held four to six times a year in London (currently online).

We're looking for a finance bookkeeper volunteer who can support the financial administration of the charity using our finance software,  Xero. We The volunteer will support the Chair to undertake regular financial tasks such as budgeting, reporting, and audits while ensuring financial transparency. 
 

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Support the financial management of the Charity using Xero
• Data Entry: Recording financial transactions such as donations, invoices and expenses into our finance software, Xero.
• Weekly Reconciling income into Xero from GoCardless, Stripe, PayPal and other third-party agencies that facilitate donations being made to the charity.
• Maintain financial and accounting records, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Assist with preparing payroll and/or pension information for submission to an external payroll provider (when required)
• Assist with the preparation of the accounts, quarterly and annual accounts for accountant annually as well as supporting funder financial reports
• Track the financial situation of projects
• Ensure that all necessary financial information is recorded accurately
• Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting
• Document Management: Organising and filing receipts, invoices, and other financial documents (digitally).

As a governor, you can visit the school to gain an understanding of the culture and ethos and to get the most out of the role as well as have the opportunity to meet children, parents, and teachers, and see the impact of your work first-hand. Governors act as a ‘critical friend’ to their head teacher ensuring accountability and helping to monitor and evaluate the schools progress, budget and staffing. You’ll also help to shape and implement future plans and guide the schools aims, ethos and values.

You don’t need to be a parent or have any specific skills to become a governor as long as you’re over 18 and happy to have a DBS check, you can apply! Professional skills such as HR, finance, law or project management are useful but governing boards are often needing softer skills such as leadership, communication and problem solving alongside a fresh perspective and lived experience within their communities. As a governor, you’ll be supported by the Chair, head teacher and the rest of the governing team.

This vacancy is for a primary school looking to find a governor to sit on their board with experience of SEND and Safeguarding. The school is a small friendly village school set in an old building and embraces the natural environment to ensure the children have a strong relationship with their communities.

As Treasurer, you'll be the guardian of our wonderful theatre's finances. It'll be your job to keep the committee updated on the theatre's financial affairs. You'll have a full understanding of the Bookkeeper's role, and oversee their work - or, if you wish, you may volunteer for that role too (details available on request). As Treasurer, you'll prepare an annual budget for the theatre, then manage and track progress, producing quarterly reports on actual income and expenditure vs budget. You'll then produce annual accounts for presentation to the independent examiner, and the wider membership at the AGM. The role requires around 25 hours per month of your time, plus an additional commitment at year end. You'll join the board of trustees, which entails a DBS check, and you'll attend monthly committee meetings, in which you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the general running of the theatre.

Training

Over the course of several months, you'll receive a comprehensive handover from the existing Treasurer. At first, you'll shadow them to gain a full understanding of what's required, then they'll shadow you, offering as much support as you need until you're ready to take the reins.

Skills

You'll have a love of numbers (and spreadsheets!), a forensic attention to detail, and great organisational skills. You'll be good at presenting data to people who aren't as mathsy as you, and keen to join a team of friendly, passionate volunteers. This role will be a great fit for a trainee accountant looking for experience, a retiree with bookkeeping or accounting skills, or a self-proclaimed maths geek with time to spare, and a desire to be part of a wonderful community of people.

Youth Helpers work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. 

By supporting our Youth Leaders to deliver a sessions across our range of programmes. In this role, you'll support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. 

Youth Helpers also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

We want enthusiastic people to help us support our networks youth programme and build a youth strong team

Young people play a crucial role in helping us realise this mission. As a volunteer with our youth teams, you’ll be trained to provide our young people with both life skills and lifesaving skills – all while having great fun!

You’ll be working with our brilliant Badgers (aged 7-10) or creative Cadets (aged 11-18). You’ll also have the opportunity to design your own role, whether that involves running fun activities – such as outdoor events, summer camps and mountain adventures – or providing ‘behind-the-scenes’ support.

We’ll offer you the chance to become a fully-fledged Youth Leader, which will mean completing extra courses in First Aid or Adventure to broaden your capacity and experience.

Would you like to volunteer once a week or once a month? That’s entirely up to you. With the constant guidance of a friendly volunteer manager and youth team, you’ll have all the support you need to make bold strides and rediscover your inner ‘big kid’.

This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act and as such as Enhanced DBS check will be obtained.
