YMCA DownsLink Group is looking for a Safeguarding Practice Manager to join the People & Programmes Department. This role is uniquely part of a three-way job share. Together, the three postholders provide expert advice to our housing, therapeutic, and support and advice services, aligned to our service thresholds and to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal standards.
In this role, you will be a point of advice and support for safeguarding alerts raised by staff, and provide oversight and expertise to manage active cases, supporting staff / teams appropriately to ensure that children and adults at risk are reported appropriately to statutory services.
You will ensure our safeguarding policies and procedures are kept up to date to reflect current legislation and best practice, in agreement with our Safeguarding Forum and with the approval of trustees. You will also maintain up to date knowledge on legislation, policy and recognised best practice, regarding the protection of children and adults at risk.

You will be someone with significant experience in a safeguarding role, ideally working with children and young people up to the age of 25 with multiple and complex needs. You will be someone with experience of working within psychologically informed environments with trauma informed approaches, with strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, regulatory bodies including disclosure services and LADOs and who can provide expertise in relation to criminal investigations, practice and statutory social care systems for children and young people.

When a family member has a spinal cord injury, it can be difficult to acknowledge and accept that their injury will affect you too.
You might find it difficult to express and share how you have been affected by these events, especially to your loved one with the injury. Overwhelming feelings of guilt, helplessness, confusion and isolation are very common.
Back Up’s Family Support team are there to help. Right from the point of injury, our Family Support Coordinators work together with the family and the injured person to create their own ‘Family Plan’ - making sure they have access to information and support throughout the rehabilitation journey.
As a Family Support Coordinator, you will build relationships with professionals to encourage referrals and manage a caseload. Whether it be meeting family members in a clinical setting, providing a listening ear from someone who ‘just gets it!’, or making referrals for ongoing support from a range of partners or statutory agencies – you will be passionate about being able to demonstrate the impact of what we do, and will see for yourself how Back Up quite literally transforms lives.

Job Purpose
The Trailblazer Lead is an exciting and important role that leads delivery of Babbasa’s Trailblazer Programme - a brand new programme to support the continued professional and personal development of Babbasa’s alumni of young people who have been through our programmes (called ‘Trailblazers’). One of the core aims of the programme is to promote underrepresented young people’s voices in spaces of influence, and to positively shape policy and decision making to better ensure young people’s needs and interests from across the city are represented.
The Trailblazer Lead will achieve this by organising and coordinating activities to support Trailblazers’ professional and personal development, from skills training and workshops, to 1:1 support, to brokering access to resources, spaces, and incentives to support their growth. Alongside this you will be working across the entire team to broker leadership and influencing opportunities for the Trailblazers and supporting them to engage with these from board positions, to speaking engagements, to engagement in research, alongside other influencing activities. The other arm of the programme involves supporting Trailblazers to engage in activities to support other young people and their local communitie, from outreach engagements, to peer mentoring, to leading and delivering their own youth projects. The Trailblazer programme is a groundbreaking programme in Bristol designed to tangibly support young people to tangibly engage in and lead on influence making and policy shaping, in a way that also supports their personal professional ambitions.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Design and deliver outreach engagements to young people in education and community settings aimed at raising awareness of Babbasa’s services, and increasing young people’s sense of confidence, belonging and empowerment.
- Coordinate a programme of skills sessions, training, and workshops tailored to the needs and interests of the Trailblazers, seeking regular feedback on activities from the Trailblazers, and ensuring successful delivery.
- Build a trusting relationship (based on Babbasa values) with young people engaged - to ensure we meet their progression outcome and identify/address any health and safety, disability, equality, concerns or welfare issues.
- With the support of the Babbasa team broker and coordinate leadership and influencing activities for the Trailblazers such as engagement in youth projects and programmes, research projects, access to positions of influence (e.g. board membership), and other Continued Professional Development opportunities.
- Support Trailblazers to engage and successfully influence businesses, statutory bodies, city wide voluntary organisations, and local or national government to advocate for the needs and views of young people from their communities.
- Provide personalised 1:1 support and coaching to our Trailblazers ranging from careers support (e.g. support with job applications and interview skills), to wider professional and personal development goals (e.g. applying for training, attending industry or city-wide events, applying for volunteer roles, finding shadowing opportunities etc.)
- Coordinate and work with the services team to identify potential Trailblazer candidates and onboard them to the programme.
- Monitor and evaluate each of the core elements of the Trailblazer programme, track individual progress including longer term outcomes, and assist to produce monthly reports on activity and impact as well as a bi-annual report to the funder (with the support of the Head of Impact and Fundraising Lead).
- Successfully engage a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels in the Trailblazer Programme and effectively steward those relationships to create strong buy-in to the programme and Babbasas’s wider mission.
General Responsibilities
- Ensure young peoples’ comments, voices and suggestions are at the heart of service delivery and respond to their needs.
- Ensure internal administrative tasks and reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner as required by Babbasa and the activity funder.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience - essential
You build trusting relationships with young people - you have proven experience working with young people aged 15-30 from a wide range of backgrounds. You have a strong sense of professional boundaries and understand how to engage with young people in a way that makes them feel safe, and supported. You have experience delivering information and guidance to young people using best practice including referring to specialist help where needed. You have a strong understanding of the barriers under-represented or marginalised young people might face in realising their aspirations. You understand safeguarding policies and procedures, and are able to assess young people’s needs and challenges, making appropriate referrals where needed.
You’re aligned with our mission - You have lived experience and/or an understanding of the critical issues surrounding equality, inclusion and diversity, including structural issues around race and class, and how they impact young people within the communities that Babbasa serves. You are passionate about securing the best possible opportunities and life outcomes for young people and believe that with the right support, everyone has the potential to achieve.
You can deliver effectively - you have experience designing, delivering and evaluating a variety of youth programmes and projects, including activities to build and embed youth voice. You understand the barriers that young people from marginalised and underrepresented backgrounds face when pursuing their aspirations and have developed effective interventions to support young people from these backgrounds toward their chosen outcome. You have good working knowledge of careers information and guidance, as well as pathways to further and higher education and are able to deliver effective support and guidance to young people, referring to specialist support where needed.

Your responsibilities will include engaging with stakeholders, users, and experts to continually enhance our care information, managing relationships with external providers, and overseeing translations into other languages and formats for accessibility.
An important aspect of this role will be maintaining systems to track and store all relevant evidence for each appropriate project. You will also effectively manage relationships, tendering and cost negotiation with third party providers such as print houses and design agencies.

Can you help us to support new dads and dads-to-be?
We are recruiting a Dad Matters Coordinator to help us reach more families across Barnet, Brent and Harrow. They will work alongside our team of Coordinators, local Family Hubs and a range of services including Maternity, Health Visiting and Children's Services.
The Dad Matters Coordinator will deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at fathers in the First 1001 Days. They will support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to service. They also work with professionals and perinatal services to ensure dads and male carers are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways. Addtionally, they will help develop and run sessions with dads and will be at the forefront of growing our Dad Matters volunteering opportunities.
This is a new post, and we are looking for someone who can build on our existing relationships and make a real impact on the mental health and wellbeing of new dads and dads-to-be.

Background
Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) delivers a free advice and support service for vulnerable migrants who have immigration, housing, welfare and health problems. We support visitors to secure their immigration status and move out of homelessness and destitution in the long-term, as well as assisting to address immediate issues, such as access to healthcare. HMC’s work is informed by a vision of a UK where no one is forced into destitution, exploitation or vulnerability as a result of their immigration status.
We have secured funding from Trust for London to employ an Immigration Advisor. The Immigration Advisor will provide immigration advice and assist visitors to make immigration and asylum applications. The postholder will work alongside external advisors to provide initial immigration advice on matters including human rights based applications, asylum, trafficking and family reunion. Advisors will work alongside Immigration Caseworkers and volunteers to coordinate and oversee the next steps for visitors after the initial immigration advice has been provided.
This role sits within the Immigration team, consisting of an Immigration Team Manager (part time), an Immigration Caseworker and a Long Residence Immigration Caseworker. HMC also benefits from two Housing & Destitution Caseworkers and the support of a Fundraising Officer and Volunteer & Participation Manager who are managed by the Operations Manager and CEO. HMC is supported by over 50 dedicated volunteers who work across the organisation. In addition, HMC works closely with a number of partner organisations to ensure visitors can access specialist legal advice and long-term support with immigration, housing, destitution, health and wellbeing. These include, Together with Migrant Children and Islington Law Centre.
We are keen to hear from applicants who have OISC Level 3 accreditation, the equivalent IAAS or a valid exemption. We will consider applicants with OISC Level 2 accreditation who can demonstrate experience of skills required below.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Advice and casework
- Provide high quality advice and representation for visitors with complex or urgent cases, specific vulnerabilities or those who would otherwise face particular difficulty in accessing representation from legal aid providers. For advisors with Level 3 OISC accreditation, this will be up to and including appeal-stage casework.
- Assist in the supervising of the work of the Immigration Caseworkers and volunteers.
- Provide training to HMC’s volunteers on immigration issues and maintain up to date resources.
- Provide immigration advice and support to the Housing staff team where available housing options and routes out of destitution are dependent on future immigration applications.
2. Collaborative working
- Work with HMC’s existing external advice partners to ensure effective, co-ordination of advocacy and casework support on a wide range of issues.
- Develop links and partnerships with other organisations to enable effective joint working.
- Provide information, statistics and case studies to external and internal stakeholders to support campaigning, advocacy and research relevant to HMC’s visitor group.
- Work closely with partner organisations to identify legal issues affecting HMC’s visitor group and, where appropriate, contribute to litigation and strategic policy work undertaken by external stakeholders to address these matters.
3. Compliance and Regulation
- Ensure HMC is meeting the standards required to maintain OISC accreditation.
- Keep up to date with legislation and guidance required to provide immigration advice at OISC L3 or OISC L2 dependent on accreditation level and meet the relevant OISC competence requirements, including maintaining a Personal Competence record of personal objectives regarding training and development.
- Ensure accurate record keeping using HMC’s case management system.
- Work with the Immigration Team Manager to ensure an effective monitoring system for the work and outcomes of the Immigration Team for funding and reporting purposes.
- Administrative tasks relevant to the post.
4. OTHER DUTIES
The post holder will be expected to:
- Implement sensitively HMC’s policies and procedures, especially with regards to confidentiality and equal opportunities
- Work collaboratively with other HMC staff, volunteers and professional advisors
- Participate actively in staff meetings, and other meetings as may reasonably be required
- Attend HMC Trustees’ meetings as required
- Support HMC's fundamental aim of providing a safe and caring environment for our visitors.

No one should feel alone when diagnosed with primary bone cancer. The Bone Cancer Research Trust strives to provide a supportive network for all primary bone cancer patients to limit their feelings of isolation and anxiety. Given the rarity of the disease, patients can often go through their entire treatment and recovery without meeting another patient, so external support is vital.
Over the last 4 years, our Support & Information Service has seen significant growth, and developed to become a leading source of support for patients, family members, siblings and friends of patients. Our Support & Information team provide enduring support and ensure that this can be accessed at any point in a primary bone cancer journey and by anyone affected.
Our aim is to increase the reach of the service further, ensuring that all patients diagnosed in the UK have the opportunity to access our Support & Information Service. The Support & Information Officer will play a pivatol role in achieving this through building lasting relationships with both patients and families and healthcare professionals.
They will assist in all aspects of the Bone Cancer Research Trust's Support & Information Service, including the organisation and delivery of virtual support groups, the administration of the Charity's financial grants, the distribution of information resources and the administration of our digital groups. They will also have the opportunity to lead on the delivery of our regional in-person ‘Get-Togethers’, which bring the primary bone cancer community together to gain peer to peer support.The successful candidate will also play an important role in the continuous development of the Service, ensuring that impact is measured and feedback is acted upon.

Back Up’s mentoring service is there to help. We know that peer support can have a life changing impact and our Mentoring Coordinators are the ones who can facilitate this through matching them with a suitable mentor who will be able to support them over a series of phone calls to reach their goals.
In addition to creating mentoring relationships, as a Mentoring Coordinator you will support mentors and mentees as appropriate, assess mentee suitability and provide support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new mentors.
Mentoring Coordinators will be motivated to achieve the aims, targets and milestones that have been set in terms of making quality matches and will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.
