About the role

With an annual fundraising target of £125k, you will combine strategic insight, relationship-building and hands-on application writing, as well fundraising advice to help Church Partners grow diverse and resilient fundraising streams. The Peer Support In-Reach Service is a partnership between several local Minds. Senior Peer Support Workers and Peer Support Workers, who have direct lived experience of mental health issues, are working on in-patient wards in Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Wandsworth to provide recovery-focused peer support to people as they leave hospital and journey towards living independently in the community.
SEL Mind have a two vacancies for Peer Support Workers to join the team: one based in Lewisham and one in Greenwich.
You will use your lived experience whilst on the ward to help people build skills to manage their home and finances, connect with family and friends, pursue social or vocational interests, to get more involved in their local community and to stay physically and mentally well. Your support will be person-centred and may include mentoring, coaching, emotional support and facilitating access to community activities, practical support, work or study.
The role will be ward-based initially until the patient is ready for discharge; you will then work with them to develop their support plans and goals. You will support them with the transition into the community for up to 6 weeks, helping them to connect with community resources to ensure they are well-supported in the community and working towards their goals.

About the role
The Community Support Worker will play a key role in our community support team and service provision. Leading a team of volunteers, they will manage community enquiries through our helpline, digital channels, and in person at our Welcome Area, ensuring that IRMO remains a warm and accessible space for all.
They will work closely with other teams to provide service users with accurate, up-to-date information, support the delivery of our advice services and make referrals to partner organisations and services. Details of this role

Job purpose
To act as the organisation’s lead professional for complaint handling and quality improvement across all Advice Services.
To ensure the effective resolution of client complaints by maintaining expert knowledge of regulated advice and delivering excellent customer service. Provide regulatory insights in team discussions on MHCBS and Regulation 17 creditor challenges. Analyse complaint trends and produce reports to establish consistent processes that enhance service quality, accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
To support the Head of Quality and Compliance in ensuring Toynbee Hall’s advice services remain fully compliant with FCA, MaPS, and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Complaints and Challenge Management
- Lead the end-to-end management of all client complaints, overseeing first-stage advice service resolutions and directly managing escalated complaints, while contributing regulatory insight to team discussions on MHCBS and Regulation 17 creditor challenges.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and fair resolution in accordance with FCA and MaPS complaint-handling procedures.
- Act as the organisational escalation point for complex or high-risk advice-related complaints, including cases involving direct client or creditor challenges under MHCBS and Regulation 17
- Liaise with external stakeholders, creditors, and partners to resolve disputes and maintain strong working relationships.
- Maintain an accurate and auditable record of all complaints, decisions, and resolutions.
Quality and Compliance Oversight
- Work with the Head of Quality and Compliance to monitor compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal policies.

Experience and Knowledge
- Hold a valid Money and. Pension Service accredited qualification in debt advice
- A minimum of two years’ full time (2,220 hours) or equivalent part-time experience of delivering debt advice
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of advice areas, with particular expertise in FCA regulations, MaPS quality frameworks, and the Mental Health Crisis Breathing Space Regulation
- Significant experience managing complaints and quality processes within a regulated advice
- Proven experience in complaint resolution, creditor negotiation, and stakeholder management.
