About the role:

Are you an experienced communications professional passionate about using your skills to improve patient care? We’re looking for a creative, driven Communications and Marketing Manager to join our team. This varied role is ideal for a communications all-rounder with a flair for storytelling and a desire to take the next step in their career.  

You’ll play a key role in raising the charity’s profile and celebrating the difference we make for 1 million patients and 10,000 hardworking NHS staff atacross St George’s NHS Trust every year. Reporting to the Head of Communications and Marketing, you’ll plan, manage and deliver a wide range of projects, from brand and awareness campaigns to digital content, video and design.   

You’ll collaborate closely with our grants, arts, and fundraising teams to promote key programmes, and work in partnership with the NHS Trust’s communications team to engage staff and external stakeholders across hospital channels.

Role outline and purpose

The Development Manager – Trusts & Foundations is responsible for delivering new relationships with a wide spectrum of Trusts and Foundations to grow our portfolio of high value funding partners. Responsible for developing compelling propositions and applications that drive transformational funding for our strategic programmes of work, maximising income generation, though prospecting, cultivating and securing funding to deliver against our strategic objectives and ambitious income targets.

This role is part of the Together with Trussell programme, the goal of which is to build stronger connections with our supporters, partners and donors in order to increase funding, campaigning, and other forms of support for our work. As a member of an enabling programme, this role is focused on the successful delivery of the Together with Trussell programme outcomes, which underpin and enable the outcomes of our 5 external programmes - together contributing to the fulfilment of our long term vision of a UK without the need for food banks.

Role responsibilities

· Work with the Programme Funding team to deliver our income generation strategy, meeting income targets based on long term financial forecasts, by proactively developing new opportunities, propositions and relationships with a wide variety of Trusts and Foundations – including corporate foundations, family trusts and institutional trusts.

· Proactively identify, develop and nurture relationships with potential funders to maximise fundraising potential.

· Work alongside the High Value Partnerships team to ensure new funders are onboarded and handed over to account management and supporting with compelling propositions to uplift and retain their support.

· Provide line management support to the Development Officer – Trusts.

· Collaborate with our marketing and content teams to ensure we can communicate the impact of our high value supporters on our mission.

Person Specification

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

· High value fundraising experience, preferably including raising funds from Trusts and Foundations, delivering strategic partnerships, or applicable commercial background.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to analyse data and budgets and use CRM software.

· Ability to establish credibility quickly with a range of stakeholders, with the influencing and clear communication skills.

· Able to manage multiple projects and relationships, communicate priorities and identify and resolve conflict.

 Key Responsibilities

• Act as system lead for Microsoft Business Central, our accounting system, and the other systems used by the Finance Team.
• Prepare month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and support year-end accounts and audit.
• Be responsible for restricted funds accounting and support Gift Aid processes.
• Provide cover for Sales, Purchase Ledger and Income Supervisors as required.
• Support Finance Assistants during high-volume income periods.
• Lead finance-related projects and deputise for the Head of Finance when needed.

About You

A successful Financial Systems and Accounts Supervisor will:

• Be MAAT or part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with strong financial and management accounting experience.
• Be confident working with accounting systems (ideally Microsoft Business Central) and intermediate Excel skills.
• Have knowledge of Gift Aid and an understanding of charity finance and SORP (desirable).
• Be highly organised, collaborative and flexible, with excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude.

The Finance & Office Executive will play a key role in ensuring the financial health and effective administration of the charity. COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTING TO HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS

 DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS

WFN’s communications amplify the work of Whitley Award winners, raise the profile of the charity, bolster fundraising efforts, and contribute to global conservation conversations, positioning WFN as a leader within the sector.

• Monitor, and create and schedule content for WFN’s Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn accounts, helping to grow engagement and channel performance, driving traffic to WFN’s website, and sharing charity, winner, and sector news – in line with WFN’s communications strategy and with oversight from the Head of Communications (HoC)
• Lead management of WFN’s photo library and footage archive (Google photos): naming, categorising, and uploading winner and event photos
• Support delivery of social media campaigns during the lead up to events to drive engagement and/or donations, and supporting with posting content throughout the event period
• Help produce video content
• Support production and distribution of our regular e-letter (through MailChimp)
• Work with the HoC on WFN’s website to regularly review and update content
• Draft copy for website news stories and any additional copywriting as needed throughout the year
• Assist the HoC with monthly reporting on the website, social media platforms, newsletter and media coverage
• Support digital event communications including creation of e-letters, e-invitations, website pages, email signatures and visual assets.

 PR

WFN shares impactful stories that resonate with supporters and demonstrate we can make a difference. Throughout the year, we actively work to secure PR coverage for Whitley Award winners. Increased visibility helps winners to attract further funding, gain new connections, and increase political clout – all tools which strengthen conservation work.

• Produce reactive social media to share PR coverage secured by the HoM
• Create and distribute toolkits for press and partners to bolster media campaigns
• Collate charity and winner press coverage, including website news pages, throughout the year
• Support the Head of Media (HoM) and HoC in responding to press enquiries and supplying materials.

 EVENTS

Whitley Awards Ceremony

The Whitley Awards are the result of an international search to find, fund, train and put a spotlight on outstanding grassroots leaders and their conservation projects. Finalists are invited to London for a week of training and events, culminating with the Whitley Awards Ceremony, where winners receive their Awards from WFN Patron, HRH The Princess Royal in front of 400 guests and many more tuning in via our livestream.

The Communications Assistant will assist the team in planning and delivery of events during the Whitley Awards Ceremony week, including the Friends Reception, Ceremony and NGO Reception, particularly in the following areas: 

Communications

• Assist with supplier liaison across event filming, livestream, and photography
• Help create event visuals and on-screen graphics
• Support with creation of the Ceremony invitations and booklet
• Support with sourcing additional material for the Whitley Award films as needed
• Support the HoC with creation and uploading of content to the website and across social media platforms, including press releases, photographs, news stories, winner pages, and films.

Other WFN Events

Throughout the year WFN holds other fundraising and engagement events ranging from intimate dinners with supporters, winner talks, events as part of our Next Gen programme and major initiatives such as Biodiversity Summits which will require the CA’s assistance.

• Assist with the production of pre-event communications and marketing materials, including invitations, e-letters, social media content, and advertisements
• Assist with setting up and managing platforms such as Eventbrite as needed

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys combining creativity and innovation with advanced digital analytics. You’ll play a key role in supporting and delivering the charity’s marketing and communications strategy and enabling the charity to grow its reach. You will ensure that our social media channels, website, SEO and email activities are effective, on-brand, and accessible. Most importantly, you will create awareness activities that convert, engagement activities that retain and ensure each segment of our community receives the greatest online experience from their interaction with Actors’ Trust.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter keen to take on a new challenge within a fast-growing organisation, to join us and support our vision: an empowered and vibrant performing arts sector. The Senior Marketing Manager is an integral role to ensuring we are reaching our audiences effectively. You will develop and implement marketing strategies for Anthony Nolan’s marketing campaigns and audience approaches, and support our fundraising, register development and patient services colleagues in delivering their campaigns with your team.

You will be responsible for developing and utilising insight to grow awareness in these audiences, driving brand uplift to encourage future action and loyalty. You will lead your team of audience specialist marketing managers in driving successful marketing campaigns and activity, leading on key audience journeys, and providing marketing advice and practical support to other teams across the organisation. You will work closely with and support the Head of Marketing & Brand to deliver against key marketing and organisational objectives.

Key responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership & Financial Planning 

• Lead the organisation’s financial strategy ensuring sustainability and alignment with mission and organisational priorities. 

• Advise the CEO and Board on financial performance, risk, and scenario planning. 

• Develop long-term financial models and cashflow forecasts. 

• Provide financial insight to strategic decisions, business cases, growth opportunities, and operational planning. 

Financial Management & Control

Oversight of International Operations

• Oversee financial arrangements for countries where the INGO has no legal entity, including fiscal hosts, secondee payments, and contract structures. 

Leadership, Management & Culture 

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve operational excellence. 

Person Specification 

• Worked as a Finance Director or as a Head of Finance (with autonomy of decision making and board reporting duties) 

• Strong understanding of charity accounting standards and regulatory requirements. 

• Senior-level finance experience in an INGO, charity, or multi-country organisation (preferably with operations in the Global South) 

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA or equivalent). 

• Demonstrable experience with institutional donor compliance. 

• Experience leading annual audits and preparing financial statements. 

• Strong leadership and team management skills, including developing staff. 

• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills. 

• Experience managing multi-currency environments and international financial operations.

Who we are looking for 

Breakthrough T1D is the UK’s leading type 1 diabetes charity, dedicated to funding research, advocating for change, and supporting the T1D community. A year into our exciting rebrand from JDRF to Breakthrough T1D, we’re looking for a dynamic Community Events Officer to help us build on this momentum.

You will be an enthusiastic person with an eye for detail and the ability to plan, manage and deliver our community events programme. This role will work at the heart of a passionate team, who deliver support and information to people living with type 1 diabetes throughout their type 1 journey. Events are a key opportunity to connect those living with the condition and to share what Breakthrough T1Doffers. 

With experience in delivering events, you may have worked for charities before in similar roles. Your role will be to oversee the planning and delivery of our community events, including on-the-day logistics in person and virtually. You will also develop post-event follow-up with participants and strategically evaluate our community events programme, working with the Community Partnerships and Events Lead. There will be opportunities to represent Breakthrough T1D , network and exhibit at external events and develop creative plans and strategy for future events, to support Breakthrough T1D’s ’s aims and mission. 

Experience required 

You’ll have previous experience of: 

• Planning, delivering and evaluating successful community events

• Facilitating virtual events via Zoom or similar online platforms 

• Representing an organisation through networking or exhibiting at conferences, community events and other similar functions 

• A proven track record working with and managing budgets 

• Working within a community and building relationships with volunteers, new and existing supporters and stakeholders

Finance Officer (12-month maternity cover)
