We are working in partnership with Guildford Sunset Homes (GSH) a small, well-respected charitable trust based in Merrow, near Guildford, registered under the Communities and Societies Benefits Act of 2014, and who provide 87 social rent apartments for retired individuals of limited means from the local area. The estate features a converted Grade II listed Manor House and several purpose-built apartment blocks set within peaceful and well-maintained grounds.
GSH now seeks a new Trustee to join their friendly and dedicated Board, to work alongside a supportive team and professional estate management company, ELM Group, who employ two members of staff to take care of the day-to-day running of the Estate.
This is an exciting opportunity, where you will help guide the development and direction of a thriving retirement community, and improve the estate for their residents.

The Board is responsible for our strategic direction and governance, ensuring we achieve our charitable objects and are well run. It is a demanding but highly rewarding volunteer role, one in which you will make a difference to the lives of thousands of people. We are currently looking for an experienced finance professional to join our Board as Treasurer/Finance Trustee and also head up the finance subcommittee. The Treasurer plays a key role in overseeing the charity’s financial health and ensuring the Board can make informed, responsible decisions.
You may be a qualified accountant or have equivalent knowledge gained by experience. We are ideally looking for someone with experience in charity finances who is able to take a strategic approach to financial planning and oversight and to help non-financial colleagues understand these.
Previous trustee experience isn’t required, and you will be supported into the role through an onboarding and induction process.

As a SANEline volunteer, you will support callers who contact SANE's national, out of hours, helpline, SANEline, and make a real difference and support people affected by mental illness.
SANE is a UK-wide mental health charity working to improve the quality of life of anyone affected by mental illness, including families and carers. SANEline volunteers provide telephone emotional support, information and guidance to those who call our helpline SANEline.
Hours and location: Our trained volunteers support on our helpline, between 4-10pm, 365 days a year. Volunteering training and shifts takes place in North London. All volunteers must be aged 21 years or over.
SANEline Volunteers provide support to callers with a wide range of mental health problems via our confidential crisis line.
We are looking for warm, compassionate, understanding people who are good communicators to join our services team as a volunteer. You don’t need to be a mental health expert: empathy matters more than academic qualifications or experience, and we’re keen to hear from people of all ages and walks of life.
