At Life Charity, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. They give their time, skills and compassion to support women, families and communities across the UK. We’re looking for a passionate and organised Volunteer Experience and Engagement Officer to help us recruit, engage, support and celebrate our volunteers, ensuring they have a positive and rewarding experience from their first enquiry through to long-term involvement.
Accountable to: HR Advisor, Retail and Volunteer Operations Manager
Location: Home Based with travel to sites around the UK and to the Leamington Spa Office
Contract Information: 21 hours per week across a minimum of 3 days/Permanent
Salary: £15,288 actual (£25,480 FTE)

The Volunteer Experience & Engagement Officer plays a key role in ensuring that volunteers have a positive, meaningful, and impactful experience with the charity. This role is responsible for recruiting, supporting, engaging, and retaining volunteers, while fostering a strong sense of community and alignment with the organisation’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding
- Develop and deliver effective volunteer recruitment strategies
- Manage volunteer applications, interviews, and selection processes
- Coordinate onboarding, inductions, and training sessions
- Ensure all volunteers are safely and appropriately onboarded (including checks where required)
Volunteer Experience and Engagement
- Act as the main point of contact for volunteers, providing ongoing support
- Design and implement initiatives to enhance volunteer satisfaction and engagement
- Organise events, recognition programmes, and feedback sessions
- Build a strong, inclusive, and motivated volunteer community
Retention and Development
- Monitor volunteer engagement and identify opportunities to improve retention
- Provide opportunities for skills development and progression
- Address concerns and resolve issues in a timely and supportive manner
Communication and Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers through newsletters, updates, and meetings
- Work closely with internal teams to match volunteers to suitable roles
- Ensure clear role descriptions and expectations for all volunteer positions
Monitoring and Reporting
- Track volunteer data, hours, and impact
- Collect feedback and evaluate volunteer programmes
- Produce reports on volunteer engagement and outcomes
Safeguarding and Compliance
- Ensure all volunteering activities comply with organisational policies and safeguarding standards
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all volunteers

The Engaging Communities and Volunteering Manager will lead a team, working alongside the diabetes community, which empowers people, communities and organisations to raise awareness, influence change and support people affected by diabetes to live well and access better care.
You will be a dynamic and inspiring leader experienced in all aspects of project management. You will be skilled in developing and delivering programmes which support people in challenging circumstances, working with people and communities to improve life outcomes. You will be experienced in managing teams, supporting colleagues to excel and deliver high impact strategic outcomes. You will understand the needs of diverse groups and be passionate about ensuring that support is developed collaboratively with people with lived experience enabling them to live will and access better care. You will have excellent communication and engagement skills which enable you to grow and nurture relationships with a complex set of stakeholders, including people with lived experience, volunteers and community organisations.
This is a Home-based role, connected to our office in Wolverhampton. Ideally you will need to be located in the Midlands and East of England region.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to grow and support our network across Wales. This is a new role, created as we invest in strengthening how we recruit, prepare and engage our volunteers, with the opportunity to shape how this work develops.
In this role, you’ll build relationships with employers, public sector organisations and community groups to recruit volunteers from a wide range of industries. You’ll manage onboarding, support volunteers to feel confident and well-prepared to work with young people, and work closely with our Volunteer Manager and Programme Team to match volunteers to opportunities across Wales.
You’ll play a key part in ensuring volunteers have a positive, high-quality experience – providing ongoing support, responding to feedback, and helping us continuously improve how we engage and retain our network. Alongside this, you’ll track activity, maintain accurate records, and contribute to understanding our reach and impact.
We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and great with people, confident building relationships, managing multiple priorities and communicating clearly. You’ll bring experience of working with volunteers, or in a coordination or partnership-focused role, and have a genuine motivation to support young people to achieve their potential. And, we'd love someone who is confident communicating in the medium of Welsh.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively, is comfortable working across a wide geography, and is motivated by creating opportunities and delivering impact.
