Job description

Anna Freud is seeking a Course Tutor (Pg Dip CYP Psychological Trainings) to join our world-leading mental health charity for children, young people and their families on a 12 month fixed term, part time contract. Our mission is to close the gap in wellbeing and mental health by advancing, translating, delivering, and sharing the best science and practice with everyone who impacts the lives of children, young people and their families. More information about Anna Freud is available on our website.

Our EDI commitment

We are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and being an equal opportunities employer, whereby equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are core to our recruitment practices. All candidates who meet the job criteria will be considered for employment, regardless of ethnic origin, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, socioeconomic background, caring responsibilities and care experience.

We ask candidates to share their diversity dimensions with us to help us identify, tackle and prevent bias across the employee lifecycle. We believe a diverse workforce enhances our ability to support mental health and wellbeing, allowing us to better meet the needs of the children, young people and families we serve.

As a Disability Confident employer, disabled candidates meeting our criteria are guaranteed an interview. Applications are submitted anonymously and assessed using a fair evaluation process based on the criteria set out in our job profiles.

What we offer

We offer a range of staff benefits, including an all-in-one rewards and recognition platform called Perkbox and wellbeing offers such as finishing early on Fridays and free counselling through our Employee Assistance Programme. We are proud to have staff-led Diversity Networks offering unique opportunities for learning, connection and impact.

What you’ll do

As Course Tutor, you will play a key role in delivering the Pg Dip in Child and Young People’s Psychological Trainings, combining your clinical expertise with teaching, assessment and trainee support to help practitioners develop their skills in evidence-based work with children, young people and families.

  • You will contribute to the planning and delivery of a high-quality curriculum, including teaching sessions, workshops and tutor groups
  • You will coordinate assessment, marking and feedback processes, helping to maintain consistent academic standards across the programme
  • You will support trainees throughout their learning, responding to queries and helping those who need additional support to integrate their training into workplace practice
  • You will gather and respond to trainee feedback, working with colleagues to continually improve module content, teaching and the overall trainee experience
  • You will work collaboratively with the Programme Director, Deputy Programme Director, modality leads and wider Postgraduate Studies team to support the effective delivery and ongoing development of the programme

What you’ll bring

The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical experience working with children, young people and families, alongside experience of teaching or delivering clinical training, and will be committed to creating a high-quality, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

  • You will have a recognised qualification in a core mental health profession, alongside significant clinical experience working collaboratively with children, young people, parents/carers and families
  • You will have knowledge and experience of delivering clinical training courses and/or university teaching, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • You will hold BABCP accreditation and be able to bring your clinical knowledge and expertise into a postgraduate teaching environment
  • You will be able to work flexibly and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary setting, effectively managing workloads, competing priorities and deadlines
  • You will be able to support fair and accurate assessment while demonstrating cultural self-awareness and a commitment to high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning
