Leading the Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement team, the Director will drive the design and implementation of the University’s inaugural comprehensive fundraising campaign, launching it at the culmination of our centenary celebrations in summer 2028. Building on progress made to date, the Director will leverage the centenary to elevate the roles of philanthropy and alumni engagement in support of the University’s future ambitions.
Person specification:
- Extensive knowledge of philanthropy, preferably within higher education, including fundraising best practice
- Extensive knowledge of alumni engagement and its role in building connections and supporting wider institutional priorities
- Demonstrable track record of building relationships and working with prospects to secure gifts at the six-figure level and above
- Experience of leading philanthropic campaigns and exceeding fundraising targets
- Experience of leading and managing teams carrying out philanthropic and/or engagement activities
- Experience of strategic and data-driven operational planning and performance management

Summary
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on individual to join our growing team as a Community Assistant, playing a vital role in the day-to-day delivery of our community programme. This is a practical, people-focused role centered on creating safe, welcoming spaces where women can connect, learn, and grow. You will be at the heart of our events and workshops, handling the essential logistics that remove barriers and allow the women we support to engage fully.

You'll be the one setting up workshops, coordinating the details that make events run smoothly, and creating the warm, welcoming atmosphere where survivors can thrive. From arranging transport to ensuring there are refreshments and fidget toys on hand, you'll handle the logistics that remove barriers and help women engage fully.

Key tasks
Casework provision

Provide support for our weekly sessions and programs.

Contribute to the initial planning and development of regular and seasonal community events.

Assist with delivering all scheduled workshops, courses, and community events.

Manage logistical aspects of sessions, including preparing materials, setting up and tidying event spaces, and ensuring all essential items are available (refreshments, first aid supplies, registration and feedback forms, and fidget toys).

Address practical barriers for attendees, such as coordinating transport expenses are covered and childcare support is arranged (if applicable).

Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere during sessions.

Support in the creation of resources, such as short videos and simple manuals, to support basic skill development for survivors.

Support the collection of survivor feedback, with a focus on helping those with language barriers so that everyone's voice is heard.
Administrative support

Help complete and maintain all session plans, risk assessments, and reflection notes for community sessions.

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our vibrant and friendly finance department. You will be responsible for supporting the Activities Finance Coordinator with the smooth running of the Accounts Payable and Receivable function and other duties within the activities finance team. In light of the Union’s recent management of the Bloomsbury Theatre, the postholder will also assist the Finance Department with a variety of tasks, providing flexible support to meet the department’s evolving needs.
Do you have relevant experience in an Accounts Payable role with a strong understanding of financial ledgers and control accounts? Have you dealt with checking and processing a high volume of transactions? If the answer is yes, then we would like you to join our finance team.
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a high-pressure environment with rapid turnaround times and strict deadlines. The ability to demonstrate flexibility in response to changing environments and team priorities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with well-developed IT skills, particularly in Excel and Microsoft Office.
