Job Title: Duty Independent Gender Violence Advocate (Duty IGVA)

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Duty Independent Domestic Violence Advocate to be the first point of contact for women who are impacted by domestic violence. You will work closely with victims of domestic abuse from the point of crisis and other gender-based abuse to provide high quality independent support to survivors all risk levels and their children..
In this role you will be part of a busy team. You will be the first point of contact for survivors who have been referred to the Gaia Centre. The duty IGVA will be responding to daily enquiries (specify from whom- public, agencies, individuals? over the phone and email as well as contacting survivors, assessing their risks and needs.
The duty IGVA will be responsible for carrying out and implementing safety plans and needs and will ensure an effective handover to the over to the relevant GAIA team for ongoing support. The post holder will also empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. You will ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options. The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors.
As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and driven policy professional to lead Asylum Aid's external policy and advocacy work at a pivotal moment for refugee protection in the UK.
The UK asylum and immigration systems are under sustained pressure. Successive waves of hostile legislation and increasingly difficult political environment have cause serious harm to people seeking international protection and made already complex systems even harder to navigate. At this time there is an urgent need for effective, well-evidenced voices in Parliament, Whitehall and the courts that keeps human experiences at its centre.
Our proactive and prioritised policy advocacy is evidence-led, based on the experiences of survivors, collective expertise and/or the HBF group’s research findings. Asylum Aid, as part of the Helen Bamber Foundation group, uses its legal expertise and evidence to secure ongoing policy and systems change by:
·Providing evidence and recommendations to central government through reports, briefings, consultation responses, oral and written evidence to parliamentary select committees and parliamentary lobbying.
·Ongoing direct engagement on improvements to policy and practice with civil servants in the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and other relevant departments.
·Working collaboratively with others in the asylum, trafficking and children’s sectors to highlight issues in the asylum and trafficking systems, and push for recognition and respect for international asylum, trafficking and human rights obligations.
·Undertaking strategic litigation to secure change that cannot be achieved through policy advocacy.
As Policy Specialist, you will be Asylum Aid's policy and advocacy lead - responsible for shaping our policy positions; driving our advocacy strategy; building and managing coalitions across the sector; and ensuring that the voices and experiences of our clients directly inform our external work. You will be managed by the HBF Group Director of Policy, Evidence and Communications, and work closely with AA’s Executive Director and legal team. At Asylum Aid we want to be transparent about what kind of qualities we are looking for and build trust from the very beginning of your journey with us. * Identify, source and coordinate social value activities across Look Ahead services
* Build and maintain relationships with corporate partners to raise income and deliver social value
* Coordinate the Social Value Group and lead Look Ahead's participation in challenge and community events
* Lead on the financial administration of grants, working closely with the finance team to ensure spend is appropriately allocated, recorded and monitored
* Liaise with operations colleagues and funders to ensure grant funding is spent compliantly and in line with agreed budgets and outcomes
* Monitor and report on funded activity, ensuring funder requirements and deadlines are met
* Lead on communicating fundraising impact, outcomes, successes and stories, working with communications colleagues

About you:
You will be highly organised, confident working with budgets and multiple stakeholders, and motivated by social impact.
You will have a minimum of 2-3 years working in fundraising, social value or bid writing.
You'll have experience in fundraising, grants, partnerships or social value delivery, with strong research, writing and coordination skills, and a collaborative approach to working across teams.
You will be an excellent bid writer with the ability to translate service need and customer aspirations into compelling, winning bids.
You may have experience of raising funds for housing associations, social landlords or organisations that are not registered charities but have charitable status or are community interest companies.
This role would suit someone looking to step into a varied, impact focused position.

DreamArts fuses arts and therapeutic practice to support wellbeing. Our acclaimed EXPERIMENT Juniors programme engages 6-12 year olds to explore and unleash their talents, try things out, express themselves and grow their skills.
Participants take control and create their own original work, from musicals to collaborating with companies such as Les Enfants Terribles.
EXPERIMENT takes place on a Saturday in South Westminster and on Sundays in Church Street plus some special projects during school holidays. The majority of participants are eligible for free school meals and live in some of London’s most deprived areas.
We are looking for a Wellbeing Practitioner for our Sunday group who is able to inspire and support young people, in particular those who may struggle in group settings. You must be passionate about engaging participants from marginalised communities and committed to support wellbeing through the arts. You will help young people participate in creative sessions that provide opportunities to explore their challenges, build a sense of belonging with peers and strengthen their emotional wellbeing.
Working alongside creative facilitators, the Wellbeing Practitioner will focus on identifying and removing barriers to participation, identifying appropriate support that responds to emerging needs and creates a sense of community.
In our last staff satisfaction survey 100% of team members felt inspired at DreamArts to do their best at their job, and 100% said that their voice and skills matter at DreamArts.
We believe young people benefit from seeing a diverse range of positive adult role models.
