The Environmental Funders Network (EFN) is a community of funders, philanthropy advisers, and fundraisers working together to transform environmental philanthropy and support more impactful funding for the environment in the UK and around the world. Through its research, networks, convening and programmes, EFN helps the environmental funding community to learn, connect and act effectively together, strengthening collaboration and increasing the scale and impact of environmental funding.
EFN is now seeking a new Executive Director at an important moment. Environmental philanthropy has grown significantly, creating a larger and more diverse funding community and real opportunities for greater impact. At the same time, environmental action and those who fund it are operating in an increasingly complex and contested political and public environment. As EFN finalises its next strategy and turns to implementation, there is an opportunity to become more intentional about where it can add greatest value, sharpen its priorities and strengthen how it understands and demonstrates the outcomes and longer-term impact of its work.
The Executive Director will provide strategic and organisational leadership, working closely with the Board and a talented multidisciplinary team (13 staff representing 9.3 FTE) to translate EFN's strategy into focused action. They will foster a culture of reflection, learning and improvement, ensuring evidence and insight inform EFN's priorities and programmes.
Externally, the Executive Director will be a compelling ambassador and outstanding relationship-builder, able to build trust across a diverse community – from major international foundations to smaller funders, philanthropy advisers, fundraisers and NGO leaders. They will attend daytime and evening events regularly in London and periodically around the country and will bring the environmental literacy and political awareness to understand the changing context in which funders are operating, using EFN's distinctive role as a connector to build relationships, share knowledge and enable collaboration and collective action.
The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership experience and can turn vision into focused delivery. They will be a skilled relationship-builder - able to listen, convene, influence and galvanise a diverse community around a shared purpose - low-ego and collaborative in approach. The successful candidate will have led and developed high-performing teams with an inclusive culture, embedding a genuine commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. You will combine strong organisational, financial and governance skills with an entrepreneurial mindset, and have experience generating income and building sustainable partnerships. Experience within philanthropy, foundations or membership networks is highly valuable but not essential.
Above all, EFN is looking for someone with a genuine passion for environmental and social change, who understands the interconnectedness of today's environmental challenges and is excited by EFN's distinctive role: helping funders and fundraisers learn from one another, strengthening collaboration, and increasing the impact of environmental philanthropy.
This is an exceptional opportunity to lead an influential network at a formative point in its development, helping EFN give the environmental funding community the knowledge, networks and agency to learn from one another, collaborate more effectively and increase the impact of environmental philanthropy.

About Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance
Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) exists so nobody in Scotland suffers or dies because medical help cannot get there in time. People can get sick or have accidents anywhere and anytime. But in Scotland there are places where urgent medical help cannot reach people. Or help gets there too late. And when lives are at risk every minute matters. As a charity we rely on donations from the Scottish public, companies and communities to ensure that urgent medical help gets to the patient when it is needed, wherever they are and at whatever time of day.

Working collaboratively across the organisation, they will play a key role in delivering our communications strategy and increasing awareness, engagement and support for SCAA’s mission.
This role will be based in Perth, at Scone Airport. SCAA supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements—our current approach typically includes two office days per week for those working on a hybrid basis. The usual hours of work will be Monday—Friday, 9am—5pm but it should be noted that this role will require the successful candidate to occasionally work at weekends and during the evenings. This role will also require the successful candidate to travel regularly to operational locations and media opportunities within Scotland, sometimes at short notice, and to undertake media on-call duties as part of a rotational rota.
About You
Essential
Experience working in journalism, public relations, communications or a press office environment.
A strong track record of securing positive media coverage and developing relationships with journalists and media outlets.
Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with experience creating engaging content for print, digital and broadcast channels.

About You
You will be an experienced insight, evaluation or research practitioner with strong analytical skills and a practical, community-focused approach to generating, analysing and using evidence.
You will be confident working directly with Global Majority communities and colleagues across REN and HHU, developing accessible methods, tools and resources to gather and make sense of qualitative, quantitative and lived-experience evidence. You will understand the importance of building evaluation and learning into community engagement and co-design from the outset.
You will bring professional curiosity, methodological integrity and sound judgement, able to identify patterns, question assumptions and communicate clearly what the evidence does and does not tell us, where evidence is limited and where further investigation is needed.
You will work closely with the Anti-Racism Strategic Lead and Bhip Programme Lead, providing robust analytical and evidence support while retaining professional objectivity and methodological responsibility for the underlying evidence. You will be confident reporting findings accurately, including where evidence is limited, contradictory or uncomfortable for REN, HHU or system partners, and will work collaboratively across the wider Bhip team to ensure evidence and learning are useful, accessible and acted upon.
The Opportunity

You will help operationalise these across the programme, developing and refining the practical methodologies, tools, measures and resources needed to generate and capture community insight, lived experience, programme activity and quantitative data consistently, ethically and meaningfully.
Working alongside the Anti-Racism Strategic Lead and with the Co-design Lead, Community Engagement team and Global Majority communities, you will develop and test culturally grounded, accessible and innovative ways of gathering evidence and understanding change. You will explore creative and participatory approaches that work for different communities, while ensuring the evidence remains robust and useful for analysis and Bhip’s wider evaluation requirements.
As Bhip develops, you will bring different forms of evidence together to identify patterns, test assumptions and evaluate emerging approaches and system-practice tests against Bhip’s Theory of Change, logic model and programme and organisational outcomes. You will provide analytical and evidence support to the Anti-Racism Strategic Lead, while working across the wider REN and HHU Bhip team to ensure evidence informs learning, accountability, programme development and system change.
You will help turn what we learn into accessible evidence, resources and learning for communities, Bhip colleagues, partners and decision-makers, ensuring communities can see how their insight was used, what action followed, what changed, what did not change and why and contributing to learning across Bradford and the National Collective.
