We are currently looking for a Head of Safety, Health & Environment to join our team.

About the role

If you have significant experience of delivering and guiding health and safety in a large organisation as well as providing advice and guidance on health and safety issues on both a strategic and operational level this could be the role for you. 

You will have first class leadership skills, with the ability to manage a disbursed staff team as well as the excellent interpersonal skills to support and influence colleagues, senior managers, volunteers and others.

The successful candidate will be able to build effective relationships, manage a diverse workload as well as being able to analyse and deal with complex or difficult situations, with skill and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Manage all safety, health and environmental issues within the MSSC, working closely with the Director of Young People, Volunteer & Business Support and other members of the senior management team, the area, offshore, training and other teams as appropriate.
• Manage a disbursed team of Safety Assurance Officers with the support of a Deputy Head of Safety, Health & Environment.
• Monitor changes to legislation and advise CEO and Trustees of their impact on the MSSC and any required actions and/or policy changes.
• Report and analyse safety data and identifying trends or issues.

Requirements

• Hold a formal qualification in Health & Safety (NEBOSH Certificate or higher).
• Up to date knowledge of H&S legislation, developments, practice and management.
•  Experience of risk management and compliance systems.
•  Significant experience of providing advice and guidance on H&S issues at a senior professional level; both operational and strategic.
•  Experience of managing and supporting a staff team.

Job Summary for Evaluation and Evidence Specialist

This role forms a key part of a new Strategy & Insight Team at Bowel Cancer UK, which seeks to build core capabilities to enable us to be as effective as we can be for people affected by bowel cancer. The Evaluation and Evidence Specialist will be an internal leader driving a step-change in the way we understand and articulate our impact, as well as how we use evidence in our work. You will be responsible for delivering evaluations of high-priority activities, as well as supporting other teams to evaluate the impact of their area. You will drive a cultural shift in evidence-based decision making where the charity begins to move from reacting to evidence to proactively generating its own evidence. You will ensure that insight, evidence and impact are delivered in a useful way to colleagues to support planning, decisions, income generation and communications.

Main responsibilities

• Lead a step-change in the way Bowel Cancer UK approaches evaluation, impact, and evidence.
• Develop evaluation frameworks for Bowel Cancer UK’s high-priority programmes and projects, ensuring that they can demonstrate the impact of our work.
• Develop, maintain and renew a set of compelling impact statements that support Bowel Cancer UK’s brand and meets the needs of other teams in engaging their key audiences.
• Establish a programme of routine evaluation for key ongoing activities across the charity, which can demonstrate effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.
• Proactively provide analysis of internal and external evidence sources to deliver meaningful insight for the organisation.
• Support teams to identify the evidence they require, including checking to ensure evidence is used consistently and robustly.
• Develop our capability in how evidence is presented to different audiences, including through data visualisation.

With their mission being to improve the lives of the millions of people affected by digestive conditions, they are looking for their first Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager to help them reach that goal.

The Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing plans to maximise income from corporate partners and high net worth individuals with the propensity to donate significant sums. • Do you have experience supporting vulnerable people with complex needs in a Housing, Hostel or Supported Accommodation environment, and are you ready to take the next step into a supervisory role?

  We have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Accommodation Support Supervisor (18-month maternity cover) to join our Housing team, working to support some of the district’s most vulnerable adults to move on from temporary accommodation into longer-term housing solutions.

  You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of Council-owned homeless accommodation in West Oxfordshire, ensuring high-quality, safe and well-managed services. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will help residents develop the skills and support they need to move on successfully, while also supervising and supporting a small team of Temporary Accommodation Support Officers.

  This is a rewarding but demanding role, ideal for someone who combines empathy with professionalism, resilience and strong organisational skills.

  What you’ll be doing

  • Supervising and providing day-to-day direction to Temporary Accommodation Support Officers, with direct line management responsibility for two staff members
  • Ensuring the efficient running of Council-owned homeless accommodation, maintaining high service standards and maximising occupancy
  • Managing hostel budgets, minimising voids and ensuring residents are supported to claim the correct benefits and meet service charge requirements
  • Carrying out and overseeing risk assessments, health & safety checks, and property inspections, ensuring repairs and issues are reported promptly
  • Developing bespoke support plans for residents to help them manage their stay and move on into independent accommodation

  What we’re looking for

  Someone who values structure, confidentiality and professionalism alongside compassion and support. You will be working with sensitive personal information and must demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding, GDPR and professional boundaries.

  You’ll need to be resilient and adaptable, able to remain calm and confident when working in challenging environments or emotionally complex situations. Teamwork is essential, as is the ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  You will also need a sound understanding of housing legislation, including the Housing Acts, the Homelessness Reduction Act and associated guidance.

Summary

Since January 2023, there has been a regular pattern of worship on site in Church House Chapel and online prayer and worship offered by staff for staff based at Church House and in the NCIs as follows: 

• Weekly Wednesday Eucharist (said) at 12.30pm in Church HouseChapel; 
• Almost monthly'special' Eucharists with choir, congregationalsingingandsermon; 
• Daily online Morning Prayer, 8.45am; 
• Daily emails offering prayer; and, 
• Weekly Pause for Prayer email on Fridays. 

In order to ensure the sustainability of the on-site worship at Church House, the Chief Officers of the NCIs are looking for someone who can take on the role of Worship Coordinator. This role focuses on the on-site worship offering, though the Worship Coordinator will be helpful in offering support and collegiality to staff offering online worship and prayer.  

As Worship Coordinator you will take the lead in ensuring that there is always a weekly Eucharist, and bringing people together to provide a pattern of worship in Church House Chapel that reflects the diversity of staff at Church House.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• A salary of £7,224.80 per annum (£36,124 FTE), plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

• 0.2 / 5 days (25 days FTE) annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years) plus eight bank holidays and three additional days (pro-rated if working part-time).

The Partnerships Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering Youth Futures Foundation’s Employer Strategy.

This role can be based at our Birmingham, Leeds or London hub. We currently operate a hybrid model of two-days per week in the office and three-days from home.
