The Volunteer and Events Manager will develop and implement a volunteer strategy and annual RLSS UK plan of events, for all Directorates, which evolves to include opportunities as they arise. To do so successfully, you will be a proactive, dynamic and experienced Volunteer and Events Manager who will lead our centralised management function with passion, excitement and dedication to RLSS UK’s purpose, mission and vision.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a professional volunteer and events function ensuring supply and demand needs are met across RLSS UK and supporting all teams to embed a consistent and coordinated approach
- To develop, implement and oversee the delivery of the volunteer strategy
- To develop and implement effective strategies, polices and processes to engage and retain volunteers and ensure a high-quality volunteer experience at all stages of the volunteer cycle
- To develop and implement effective event management strategies, policies and processes incorporating all health and safety requirements
- To lead and continuously improve our support to volunteers across the UK and Ireland
- Develop, implement and review an innovative volunteer recognition and reward offer
- To integrate an increasing number of volunteers into RLSS UK’s initiatives and activities, enhancing their experience and maximising their impact regardless of geography and circumstance
- To increase the diversity of volunteers
- To lead the delivery and implementation of our annual National Presentation of Honours Event, annual conference and national lifesaving sports events
- Attendance at Sports Committee and Honours Committee
- Lead research speakers and topics for conferences and workshops
- Speaker management and supporting the Events Executive to send out invitations, receive confirmations and general liaison
- Support membership queries about events and volunteers
- Implement project plans for all events including liaising with key teams such as the RLSS UK communications team
- Attending and managing events on site with the support of the Events Executive
- Venue management and liaison with relevant organisations to ensure smooth delivery
- To manage your team with clear direction and a supportive approach
- To provide guidance on good practices in volunteer management
- To address issues or conflicts promptly
- Ensure appropriate financial management of assigned budgets
- Lead and deliver an annual volunteer survey and analysis to produce meaningful feedback
- Lead and deliver events feedback surveys and take the learning for future implementation
- Work flexibly and collaboratively across all RLSS UK teams and promote all aspects of the organisation

Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead on and support ad hoc projects as required
- Contribute to the successful operation of the charity by undertaking such other tasks as may from time to time be required including all other duties reasonably associated with your role, as directed by the Line Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes
- Approximately 7+ years’ experience in a volunteer management role
- Approximately 5+ years' experience in a events management role
- Experience of working at a manager level ideally in a membership organisation
- Demonstrable experience of strong project management
- Demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of impactful volunteer engagement strategies
- Demonstrable expertise in defining and driving strategies to achieve step changes in engagement
- Experience of forming partnerships with networks and other organisations which bring mutual benefit
- Demonstrable experience of positively interacting, engaging and influencing at all levels including with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience of volunteer retention and acquisition
- Demonstrable experience of delivering events to raise the profile of a cause, retain and grow volunteers
- Demonstrable experience of delivering volunteer-focused solutions within a membership organisation
- Demonstrable experience of effectively implementing relevant processes and policies
- Demonstrable expertise in ensuring appropriate policies and processes are in place to guarantee compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements
- Expertise in developing and continuously adapting a range of volunteer training and competence assessment activities

The Special Events Manager is an exciting role at MDUK, that will sit within the Fundraising team.

- Deliver capital campaign ask events, donor networking events and supporter access moments for the key relationships team

- This is a hands-on leadership role that will actively deliver across events and operations while leading and developing others
Ideal skills and experience:
- Significant experience planning, delivering and evaluating high-quality donor or stakeholder events across in-person, hybrid and digital formats, with clear evidence of aligning events to cultivation and stewardship objectives
- Excellent project management skills, able to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously, meet deadlines, maintain high standards of detail and manage budgets effectively
- Demonstrable experience working in an operations or support role, with responsibility for coordinating systems, processes and infrastructure that underpin fundraising or relationship management activity
- Proven ability to design, improve and embed efficient, compliant systems and processes, including gift administration, data integrity, income reconciliation and structured pipeline management
- Strong experience using CRM databases or similar platforms, maintaining accurate data, overseeing data quality and confidently learning new systems and reporting tools
- Experience of leading and supporting others within a small team, contributing to a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing culture while remaining comfortable with hands-on delivery

We are looking for a creative, proactive events professional to help us build on our existing events offer. You will lead a small team to develop and deliver the College’s events programme, including our annual conference, to increase engagement with the sexual and reproductive healthcare community and raise the College’s profile with new and existing audiences.
The role:
Events management
- Works with the wider CoSRH team, including members of the College, to develop an annual events programme to meet our educational responsibilities, provide networking and membership growth opportunities and raise the profile of the College
- Works with and supports members and staff through project groups to deliver events (digital, in-person and hybrid), including programme design, speaker and stakeholder liaison, logistics, and evaluation
- Works closely with the Marketing and Digital teams, develops project timelines for events and conferences ensuring clear definitions of roles and responsibilities for delivery of projects
- Selects and manages all technology and systems required to deliver remote/digital events, including sourcing, selection, implementation, and management of CoSRH hosting and communications platforms (e.g. Teams, Zoom) as well as subscription management and linkage with external organisation systems where required
- Manages technical set-up for events as well as providing technical support during events
- Ensures timely distribution of digital event materials, ensuring appropriate video editing has taken place
- Leads development, implementation and review of policies, processes, and procedures to enable remote/digital delivery of events
Key stakeholder and third-party management
- Manage relationships with suppliers, including venue finders, webinar suppliers, designers and printers, to ensure events are well-run, cost-effective and delivered to budget
- Leads formal tendering process for event suppliers, and engagement of external suppliers of events services (including digital technology services)
- Alongside the Head of Business Development, identifies and works with sponsors and exhibitors to develop tailored packages that deliver value for them and for delegates
- Leads on evaluation of events and applies insight to improve member experience and delegate journey
Budget management
- Manages events budget and provides regular feedback to the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that all events are delivered to budget, and that all new budget requirements are factored in to future plans
- Establishes and tracks targets, objectives and KPIs to improve event performance, including cost management, supplier negotiation, ROI and margins

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, whose mission is build confidence, companionship and connection for people with hearing loss, is seeking a High Value Events Manager to help create inclusive, inspiring and impactful high-value event experiences that deepen relationships and generate transformational philanthropic support for the charity.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has been creating life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients since 1982. As well as acting as an ear to their partners and alerting them to sounds, the charity’s clever and expertly trained dogs help deaf people to live life with confidence and independence, whilst providing love and emotional support.
Following on from a strategic review, the charity is now building a new Income Generation Directorate, to enable them to transform many more lives across the UK. This role will be critical to help Hearing Dogs reach their goals to significantly grow and diversify income.
This role will be part of a newly built High Value Events function and will develop, manage and deliver a portfolio of high‑value engagement and fundraising events that advance the charity’s strategic priorities and long‑term sustainability. Working closely with the High Value Event Team Manager and collaborating across Income Generation and wider teams, the postholder will create values‑led, relationship‑driven events that celebrate impact, inspire generosity and deepen connections with major donors, trusts, foundations, corporate partners and senior volunteers. This role requires a proven track record in planning and delivering high‑value fundraising or engagement events generating £100k+, alongside experience working with major donors, high‑net‑worth individuals, committees and senior stakeholders.
