This is an Officer-level role, ideal for someone with experience in administration, supporter care, fundraising, marketing or a similar role who is looking to develop their skills and build a career in charity fundraising and marketing. You don’t need to be an expert in legacy or In Memory fundraising - what matters most is that you’re curious, willing to learn and confident working with both people and processes.

As part of our Legacy and In Memory team, you’ll play an important role in delivering excellent supporter care. You’ll have a varied mix of responsibilities, from processing donations and correspondence and responding to enquiries from existing and future supporters, to supporting marketing campaigns, identifying and supporting the production of marketing materials and helping us build strong, lasting relationships with our supporters.

You’ll be someone who takes pride in providing a high standard of stewardship, is comfortable managing administrative tasks and can communicate with warmth, sensitivity and empathy - particularly when supporting people who are remembering someone they have lost.

You’ll also have experience of working with vulnerable parents and/or children in a range of community settings and adept at delivering groupwork programmes.

A successful Support Worker will need a good understanding of domestic abuse and the impact on children and families (or an interest in working in this field), with experience of delivering groupwork programmes for vulnerable parents and/or children.

About the Role

As an Independent Victim Advocate you will be ensuring the provision of individual structured, tailored support plans, based on a holistic assessment of impact and risk, within the framework of VS's Service Model. You may make initial contact with victims of crime, explaining our services and assessing the impact of crime, or receive referrals from colleagues, in order to provide on-going support and case management.

You will develop, deliver and monitor safety and support plans for those affected by crime, who accept ongoing support. Support will include providing resources, interventions, and information to all service users. In order to:

• support those affected by crime in understanding and asserting their rights and entitlements
• understand their journey through the criminal justice and legal systems including the Victims Code of Practice
• facilitate access to additional services
• establish healthy coping mechanisms
• provide practical support and information

You will directly support service users, who may be affected by all types of crime. You may work within a specialist area, for example concentrating on one crime type, or a certain demographic of victims.

About the role 

As our Global Accounts Receivable Assistant, you’ll be part of our Finance team, helping to maintain timely and accurate recording of supporter income across our global entities. This is a key role supporting the financial processes that underpin our fundraising activity and wider mission to end factory farming.

As our Global Accounts Receivable Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:

• Recording global donations accurately - Downloading and posting accounts receivable income received for all entity bank accounts, ensuring clear audit trails are maintained.
• Supporting accurate financial coding - Amending postings to reflect accurate campaign codes and responding to reconciliation queries around donation recording.
• Flagging issues and queries appropriately - Escalating refunds, disputes, discrepancies and inaccuracies to the right manager or senior colleague for review.
• Supporting improvements to procedures and systems - Helping to test system and procedural updates, query discrepancies in existing processes and provide constructive feedback where needed.
• Working collaboratively across teams - Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Finance, Marketing and Fundraising, and directing donation queries to the correct point of contact.

About you

To succeed as our Global Accounts Receivable Assistant, you’ll be organised, accurate and proactive, with a positive approach to routine administrative work and a genuine interest in supporting a purpose-led Finance function.

Skills and experience you’ll need to bring:

• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications, internet use and confidence using basic Excel formulas.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to set high standards for your own work and maintain accurate records.
• Sound judgement and the confidence to make timely decisions at the appropriate level, including knowing when to escalate to a manager or Financial Controller.
• Good time management skills, with the ability to plan and organise your workload and manage busy periods effectively.
• A collaborative and respectful approach, recognising the perspectives and values of others and communicating positively with colleagues across the organisation.
• A proactive mindset, with a willingness to learn, support agreed processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Previous experience working with CRM and ERP Systems such as Salesforce and Netsuite

What you will do

Since 2018, the LRU has grown its membership to over 7,000 renters across London.  Through our six branches, we support renters to take action to transform the housing system.  Organising in communities, the LRU runs training, facilitates peer support, takes collective action and campaigns on local issues, to grow our power.

The Operations Lead plays a key role in facilitating the union’s work, every day. By overseeing the systems, processes and resources that keep the union running effectively, this role creates the conditions for every part of the union to thrive. Working across teams, the Operations Lead helps ensure the organisation is resilient, efficient and well-equipped to achieve its goals.

You will be part of the LRU staff team alongside 15 other staff, who work with members to build the power of the union by organising, campaigning, training and facilitating peer support and member solidarity actions.  We expect staff to uphold the union’s values, and work together to implement collectively agreed strategies.  Each staff member has a line manager, and the staff team are accountable to the elected member Coordinating Group, and to each other.
