Who we are
We are OUTpatients, the UK’s LGBTIQ+ cancer charity. Proudly led by and for our community, we are here to shake up the system, advocate for equity, and stand up for every LGBTIQ+ person affected by cancer. Our passion to support others is born out of personal experience; we understand what it’s like to not see yourself reflected in the services you use, and feel like you are left in the margins at a time when you most need personalised support. That is why we host peer support, educate healthcare professionals and help to shape national policy so that nobody has to go through cancer alone.
The position
The Chief Operating Officer is one of three new senior leadership roles we're creating alongside our CEO, the first time OUTpatients has built a leadership team of this kind. It's a genuine opportunity to shape how a fast-growing charity operates, not simply maintain what already exists.
You'll be the CEO's key partner in turning our five-year strategy into a well-run, sustainable organisation: leading a team of six, taking ownership of our finances, risk and governance, and building the systems and structures that let our small, passionate team deliver more, safely and well.
Working closely with our incoming Head of Fundraising & Business Development and Chief Medical Officer, and deputising for the CEO when needed, your work will directly shape how many more LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer we're able to reach.

Job summary including context
Young Women’s Trust champions young women on low or no pay. We’re here to create a more equal world of work and raise young women’s incomes. We tackle sexism and misogyny, with and for anyone who has experienced this.
We offer young women free coaching, feedback on job applications and information to help them get where they want to be. We bring together a thousands-strong network to support each other, build their self-belief, and have their voices heard. We work with young women and anyone who experiences misogyny and sexism to campaign for equality in the workplace. And our research provides insight into what young women’s lives are really like, fuelling our campaigns for change.
These are not easy times to be a young woman. The rights and freedoms previous generations fought for can feel up for grabs – sexism is growing louder, online abuse is on the rise, and too many young women are still held back by low pay, insecure work and unequal caring responsibilities. At Young Women's Trust, we believe it doesn't have to be this way, and we're growing our fundraising ambition to match the scale of the challenge.
You will lead a newly united fundraising programme that has brought together corporate partnerships, major donors, and trusts & foundations - an area that already contributes over 80% of our fundraised income. You'll strengthen existing relationships and secure new partnerships to support our mission: creating a more equal world of work and increasing young women's incomes.

This means that if we have two candidates of equal merit in our process, we will seek to take forward the racially minoritised candidate in order to diversify our staff team.
You’ll be joining a team that will embrace your ideas and support and encourage you to bring your whole self to work.
We can make reasonable adjustments throughout the application process and on the job. If you have particular accessibility needs, please get in touch and let us know any requirements you may have.

Who we are
Nature is in crisis. People are destroying and consuming the natural world at a devastating rate, threatening the ecosystems on which all life depends. Birds are our early warning system, revealing the health of our planet and helping us understand the urgent action needed to protect it.

At the heart of BirdLife is a powerful global movement. More than two million birders, scientists and local volunteers help track, study and protect birdlife around the world, generating the knowledge and action needed to drive conservation impact at scale. About Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is the UK’s leading patient charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by pulmonary fibrosis. Our mission is underpinned by values of compassionate, bold, expert and collaborative. We believe in creating a supportive environment in which both our employees and beneficiaries can thrive.
Founded in 2013 by people affected by PF and clinicians, APF has grown into a respected national charity rooted in community and evidence. We provide trusted information and support, help a growing network of support groups, campaign to improve access to care and invest in research to bring hope of new treatments. APF strives to be an organisation of equity and inclusion, welcoming people from all backgrounds – our team and volunteers aim to reflect the diverse communities we serve.
We have just launched an ambitious five-year strategy (2025–2030), co-created with the PF community, which focuses on expanding support, transforming care, and accelerating research. This strategy marks a step change with a clearer focus, stronger delivery model and greater ambition to ensure no one faces pulmonary fibrosis alone.
Role Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Education and Events Officer to coordinate and deliver our education and events programme for people affected by pulmonary fibrosis, healthcare professionals and wider stakeholders.
This is a hands-on role at the heart of APF’s work. You will plan and deliver education sessions, webinars, conferences and events, making sure they are welcoming, accessible, well organised and shaped around the needs of the people we support.
You will manage the full attendee journey, from registration and communications through to delivery, feedback and follow-up. You will also coordinate APF’s presence at external conferences, work with speakers, clinicians and partners, and help ensure people who engage with our events can easily access wider APF information, support and opportunities.
We are looking for someone with strong experience of organising events, education sessions, webinars, training or similar activity. You will be highly organised, confident working with a wide range of stakeholders and comfortable managing logistics, digital platforms, databases and attendee communications.
You will also be confident hosting or supporting sessions both online and in person, and able to use feedback and data to improve future activity.
This is a great opportunity to help APF deliver high-quality education and events that give people affected by pulmonary fibrosis practical information, reassurance and confidence throughout their journey.
To apply, please submit a CV and a covering letter of no more than two pages outlining your suitability for the role and how your skills and experience meet the requirements of the job description.
Interviews will be held on a rolling basis, so we encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
