Team and Role Purpose

The ‘Global Legacy Lead’ is part of Save the Children International’s (SCI) Global Fundraising Team. The purpose of this team is to catalyse growth of fundraising globally, with particular focus on individual giving and unrestricted income, and working to develop a strong and healthy global market portfolio. This team of global fundraising experts works closely with Save the Children member offices around the world, providing them with strategic and implementation support in priority areas and fostering a vibrant fundraising community. The team also ensures global leadership and coordination for our humanitarian fundraising strategies/campaigns, collects and reports global fundraising/marketing KPIs, coordinates international benchmarking initiatives and provides strategic fundraising analysis and actionable insights to members. 

Role purpose

Save the Children is pursuing an ambitious global growth agenda, with long-term, sustainable, unrestricted income as a critical enabler of impact for children. Legacy fundraising represents a significant, yet underleveraged opportunity across our global movement.

The Global Legacy Lead will serve as Save the Children’s senior global expert on Gifts in Wills, leading the creation, evolution and global roll‑out of the organisation’s Legacy Strategy. This includes setting the strategic direction, elevating legacy fundraising as a core driver of long-term unrestricted income, and ensuring Members have the capability, tools and insight needed to maximise growth.

The role provides high-level strategic guidance, deep technical expertise, and cross-market leadership to strengthen pipelines, shape market strategies, build capacity and embed a culture that recognises legacy income as essential to financial sustainability and future impact for children.

Principal Accountabilities

o Strategic Global Leadership

• Lead the design, implementation and ongoing evolution of Save the Children’s Global Legacy Strategy, ensuring alignment with long‑term organisational growth plans.
• Establish an Executive‑level Legacy Acceleration group to drive legacy engagement, prioritisation and investment from the top of the organisation and champion legacy fundraising across the organisation, communicating its strategic value and supporting a culture shift toward long‑term income generation.
• Provide global guidance on pipeline forecasting, ROI analysis, investment planning and long‑term growth modelling.

o Market Support, Capability Building, Tools & Knowledge Management

• Identify high‑potential markets and provide targeted strategic support to build strong national legacy strategies and deliver deep 1‑to‑1 support to key practitioners, strengthening skills, capacity and confidence.
• Lead the global community of legacy practitioners, driving ambition and sharing best‑practice marketing, stewardship and supporter‑journey insights.
• Develop or refine data‑mining and prospect‑identification tools (e.g., propensity modelling) to help Members identify high‑potential audiences.
• Maintain a global repository of best practices, ensuring easy access to optimised assets, testing frameworks, creative content and strategic insights.
• Track global and market‑level legacy performance to inform strategy and monitor progress.

o Contribute and Integrate Across Fundraising Programmes

• Collaborate with Philanthropy and Donor Development Leads to ensure an aligned pipeline‑building strategy and reduce functional silos as well as supporting or leading relevant cross‑team projects, including areas such as Mid‑Value that strongly intersect with legacy.

o External Sector Engagement & Market Intelligence

• Represent Save the Children in global fundraising networks to stay at the forefront of innovation and emerging trends in Legacy fundraising, to participate in benchmarking peer performance and encouraging sector collaboration.

Experience and Skills

Essential

1. Significant experience in strategic legacy leadership roles in large fundraising organisations. 
2. Experience of leading the development and implementation of large-scale legacy strategies and strategic initiatives that require deep stakeholder engagement in complex international organisations.
3. Proven experience of delivering legacy fundraising with a demonstrable record of success in securing pledgers and developing a legacy pipeline.  Experience in doing this in multiple markets is an advantage or at the global level in an international team.
4. Ability to analyse complex data sets across multiple channels and markets to identify actionable insights. Adept at understanding market trends, consumer behaviour and competitor analysis to inform strategic decisions. 
5. Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships and work effectively in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment respecting diversity. 
6. Strong personal organisational and self-management skills with the ability to lead and work in teams and to motivate others. 
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Additional language skills in one or more of our members' working languages would be an asset.

• Experience of running successful Mid-value Fundraising Programmes

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• A degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or relatedand/or equivalent relevant experience to a senior level.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software. Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and data analysis tools.
• Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial.

We’re recruiting an experienced, creative and hands-on communications specialist to work with Platform Places and Footwork over the next 10 months – to develop our bold narratives and inspiring content that help drive locally-led neighbourhood transformation.

• Target start date: 11th May 2026 
• Time input: 3 days per week (0.6 full-time equivalent), with flexibility for up to 4 days per week in certain busy periods, by mutual agreement
• Remuneration: £55,000-£61,500 per year (pro rata) depending on experience

About the Local Property Partnerships pilot, 2024-2027

Thanks to National Lottery players, Platform Places and partners have received almost £2.5 million over three years from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. The funding is being used to enable communities to come together and secure long-term spaces for the activities and services that they need the most.

This fund and programme resources local leaders in neighbourhoods in Newcastle, Sheffield, Liverpool City Region, Bristol and London – working towards shifting multiple buildings into long-term local ownership. We’re also supported by our national partner organisations Architectural Heritage Fund, Power to Change and Social Investment Business. Our intention is that this work will lay the groundwork for a larger follow-on funding programme, which catalyses England-wide adoption of this approach.

The role

We’re looking for an experienced, creative and hands-on communications specialist to join our small team and network of local and national partners.

The Communications Lead will focus on our key programmes, with the below time distribution. The challenge and opportunity is to hit the ground running and drive communications across our key channels – to help attract allies, funding and support, and inspire replication of these approaches in neighbourhoods around England.

2 days per week, ‘Local Property Partnerships’: 

• You’ll lead on promoting, and sharing learnings from, Platform Places’ exciting pilot programme (funded by National Lottery Community Fund) – which is localising and democratising who owns, controls and transforms town centre buildings in five neighbourhoods across England. 

0.75 days per week, ‘People and Place’: 

• You’ll promote, and share learnings from, Footwork Trust’s ‘People and Place’ programme – which supports community innovators to turn their bold ideas into lasting positive change for their place. 

0.25 days per week, Wider movement building: 

• You’ll work on ad hoc broader communications opportunities that support our mission and the programmes – for example, creating a content piece with local or national partners from our wider network, or pitching a media story that cuts across all our programmes.

This involves the following areas of responsibility: 

1. Build on our working communications strategy
2. Work with co-directors to develop our bold, inspiring core messaging, and update our boilerplate narratives
3. Manage digital channels for Platform Places and Footwork: a) plan and create regular social media content; b) write newsletters (approx. quarterly); c) upload and edit website content, on Squarespace (drag-and-drop editor) and occasionally Wix (guidance available).
4. Strategic media relations: build journalist relationships and pitch stories (local or national), op-eds and comments
5. Work with local and national partners to share inspiring and compelling stories
6. Develop practical how-tos and templates, together with partners (you'll have support initiating partner relationships)
7. Provide comms guidance to local programme partners
8. Support co-directors and partners with speaking engagements and event opportunities

You’ll start from a strong foundation of communications activities, along with our established tone, visual identity and branded templates – with lots of freedom for new ideas.

• You’re as comfortable with creative storytelling as you are with practical resources
• You’re a campaigner for systems change – experienced in attracting allies and creating communications for diverse audiences
• You make it sing – you turn dense or complicated materials into clear and effective narratives to shift opinion and action
• You’re a collaborator – you can effectively hold relationships with local and national partners to plan and deliver coordinated communications 
• You can ‘wear all the hats’: you get stuck in on strategy and roll up your sleeves on delivery; you know when to pitch to media and when the tactic is digital; you can knock up great copy or quick Canva graphics without aiming for perfection
• You’re efficient and resourceful, comfortable leading on comms in a small (and collaborative) team, and know how to make things happen on a small budget (and when to seek external specialists)
• You’re passionate about community-led places and social and environmental justice – and you’re knowledgeable about at least one of: high streets, property, retrofit, community business, heritage buildings, cultural venues, town planning, neighbourhood governance

About the role

The British Museum is seeking a Technical, Tax and VAT Accountant to join the Finance department, who will prepare returns for our key stakeholders (such as HMRC) and provide technical guidance on issues such as VAT, PAYE, gift aid and foreign tax to the finance team and other departments. The post holder will also manage the investments and act as systems administrator for the Museum's accounting system.

About you

We're looking for a qualified accountant with strong technical expertise in VAT, tax and financial regulation. You'll be confident interpreting legislation, analysing risk, and explaining complex requirements clearly to non-specialists. You combine meticulous attention to detail with the ability to juggle competing deadlines, stay up to date with changing regulations, and support colleagues across Finance, People & Culture and other departments. Key areas of responsibility

• Review procedures and undertake analysis to ensure that the Museum and all group entities are compliant with HMRC guidance and legislation.
• Advise other departments on the tax implications of projects and new initiatives.
• Prepare UK (and international) tax returns, e.g. VAT, corporation tax, customs clearance compliance and payroll-related returns.
• Compile the year end audit file for the pension scheme accounts and liaise with auditors.
• Provide schedules to allow the preparation of the consolidated British Museum annual accounts.

For 135 years, Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre has provided seaside holidays for children from Derbyshire who are living in poverty, experiencing trauma, or facing multiple disadvantages. A week away from everyday pressures can help a child relax, grow in confidence, and believe in themselves again.

You will be helping to run the social media channels of our CEO and Founder, Dr Luke Gamble, working as part of the Marketing Team at animal welfare charity, Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS). Your role will help raise awareness of the charities work, which in turn will mean more animals receive life-saving veterinary care.

You will take the lead on communication through our social media platforms for Luke, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. You will work closely with our Senior Marketing Executive and wider marketing team to create content tailored for each channel to ensure high levels of engagement, and audience growth.

About Us

At Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) we champion animal welfare around the world. We send vets where they are needed most, provide expert veterinary training in hard-to-reach places, and ship urgent aid supplies worldwide, every day of the year.

We deploy teams of vets and vet nurses, send equipment and supplies to help struggling organisations on the front line of animal welfare, and train vets at our international training centres in India, Thailand, Malawi, Cambodia and the Galápagos Islands.  We also work on strategic one health projects such as rabies elimination campaigns with Governments and NGOs all over the world. Our Mission Rabies project runs mass canine vaccination and community education in the world’s worst hotspots for the disease. Last year, WVS helped an animal every 14 seconds. We trained over 4,800 vets, deployed teams of vets all over the world, and sent over 1,700 parcels of veterinary supplies to 261 charities in 71 countries.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Create engaging and informative content for Luke’s channels, including producing day to day content plans and supporting on campaigns.
• Work with the WVS film team to develop an annual content calendar and overarching strategy for the YouTube channel, tailored to appropriate audiences.
• Work with Luke to produce regular engaging video content.
• Analyse engagement data to provide insights and continuously improve communications.
• Manage the social media accounts on a day-to-day basis, including responding to comments and messages.

Key Responsibilities

Memorial Forest Maintenance
Carry out seasonal tasks including grass cutting, meadow management, hedge cutting, and tree pruning. Daily maintenance tasks include planting medium to large trees and caring for them over time, as well as installing memorial benches and plaques.

Memorial Tree Dedications
Planting and preparing the memorial trees, and assist families during tree dedication ceremonies, offering guidance and respectful support during sensitive occasions.

Planting and Conservation
Plant trees and manage woodland areas in line with the charity’s environmental objectives and long-term sustainability plans.

Public Engagement
Interact professionally with visitors, explain the charity’s mission, and provide assistance where required.

Health and Safety
Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with current health and safety legislation and best practice.

Equipment Management
Operate and maintain groundskeeping tools and machinery safely and efficiently.

Collaborative Projects
Work alongside volunteers, families and community groups during planting events and engagement activities.

Adaptability & Responsive Working
This role requires the ability to respond positively to changing priorities. Daily tasks may need to change at short notice due to weather conditions, urgent site issues, health and safety concerns, or family visits. The successful candidate must be flexible, calm under pressure, and able to adapt their workload accordingly while maintaining high standards.

Members are paid up to £185 per meeting. This is taxable and subject to National Insurance (NI) contributions. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule.

In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. About Merchant Taylors’ Boones Charity (MTBC)

MTBC is a charitable arm of the Merchant Taylors’ Company, with a vision to be a long term provider of high quality almshouses in the Borough of Lewisham that improves lives across the generations.

Almshouse dwellings for ‘low needs’ young people affected by homeless – this Youth Almshouses project is at the business planning phase, with the accommodation due to open in a few years’ time. The current proposal is that MTBC will build the accommodation and an experienced Partner Charity will manage it under a lease.

Independent living almshouse flats for people aged 57+ in financial need: Christopher Boone’s Court - MTBC has 34 flats in this luxurious new development, leased from One Housing Group. The remaining flats are owned by One Housing Group’s private tenants in the same age range.

Overview of role:

The postholder leads the development of policy on issues such as independent living and financial subsidy to make a positive difference to the lives of older people in financial hardship at our site in Lewisham. The postholder manages operations at that site, with an emphasis on efficient systems.

The postholder is part of the small team responsible for developing our project to house young people, being versatile about the tasks they undertake to bring this complex and exciting project to fruition.

The postholder is the lead staff member reporting to the Housing and Care Committee on the resident-related issues in our provision of almshouse accommodation. Responsibilities and Duties

Youth Almshouses project: planning phase

[This phase has already started. There is a separate section of this Job Description relating to once construction has finished, estimated to be 2028]

Contributes to all aspects of the planning phase of the Youth Almshouses project and building relationships with key third parties. Non-exhaustive examples of milestones due in this phase for the project team to which this role belongs are:

o Agreeing appropriate business model and site design with the Partner Charity

o Conclusive professional advice on all aspects

o Concluding legal agreements with the Partner Charity

o Any regulatory issues concluded

o Planning permission granted

o Publicity

o Contracts in place with all parties relevant to construction

Management of the charity

• Presents information to assist decision-making, for example written reports and analysis of financial data for the trustees
• Manages MTBC’s affairs at Christopher Boone’s Court

Finance, Legal and Governance

• Leads on all financial matters affecting our residents at Christopher Boone’s Court.
• Completes annual returns to regulatory bodies
• Contributes to business continuity plan, review of relevant policies, preparation of MTBC’s annual report and accounts, budgeting cycle and monitoring performance against budget.
• Ensures that MTBC is up to date in complying with regulatory regimes of the Charity Commission, Regulator of Social Housing, the Housing Ombudsman and any other relevant regulatory bodies.

Data Protection

Promotes a ‘data protection by design’ approach to ensure that MTBC is compliant with data protection principles.

Policy, Development and Improvement

• Leads policy development on independent living, financial subsidy of residents, and any other relevant policy issues relating to residents of Christopher Boone’s Court or the planned youth accommodation.
• Keeps up to date with regulatory changes and best practice learning relevant to almshouse charities which are Registered Providers of Social Housing
• Drives forward change to reflect that learning, for the benefit of MTBC.
• Seeks appropriate specialist advice.

Information Technology and Residents

Encourages and develops the use and availability of technology to make residents at Christopher Boone’s Court confident with accessing online services.

Communications

Writes communications about MTBC and its activities for a wide variety of stakeholders.

Property Management

Arranges any repairs/maintenance at Christopher Boone’s Court which are MTBC’s responsibility.

Monitors whether One Housing Group and MTBC’s tenant at Archbishop Coggan House are carrying out all tests required by statute or lease obligations. Reports non-compliance and any unsatisfactory test results to the Company Surveyor’s team.

Assists the Company Surveyor’s team in arrangements for long term planned maintenance at the Youth Almshouses.

MTBC residents at Christopher Boone’s Court

• Leads strategy and implements all communications, arrangements and process to ensure MTBC’s almshouse flats are occupied
• Establishes an efficient system for monitoring residents’ ability to live independently
• Leads on operating all policies relating to residents’ behaviour (eg Anti-Social Behaviour)
• Drives forward and resolves ‘pastoral’ cases with a proportionate approach
• Assists in dealing with safeguarding cases in accordance with protocols
•  Leads on ending individual residents’ rights to live at Christopher Boone’s Court, through the appropriate internal and court processes, including instructing lawyers.
• Ensures that an ARC concessionary TV licence is in force for MTBC residents at Christopher Boone’s Court.
• Organises traditional annual events involving the Merchant Taylors’ Company.

Relationships with third parties

Christopher Boone’s Court:

• Ensures that One Housing Group and any other relationship partners meet agreed performance levels/contractual responsibilities to MTBC.
• Works proactively with One Housing Group to promote a cohesive, empowered community of residents at Christopher Boone’s Court, ensuring as far as reasonably possible that there is a common and consistent approach to MTBC and non-MTBC residents, and common opportunities for them.

Youth Almshouses after construction has finished (est. 2028):

• Acts as the key point of contact between the Partner Charity managing the accommodation, Merchant Taylors’ and its Client Project Manager, leading on operational issues.
• Notifies all construction latent defects to MTBC’s Client Project Manager.
• Leads on the Partner Charity’s performance level against the lease and service agreement.
• Assists as required in procuring periodic renewal and/or re-negotiation of lease and service agreement between MTBC and the Partner Charity, or a new lease and agreement with a replacement Partner Charity

Essential (skills, experience, qualifications)

• Educated to degree level
• Interest in economic/social policy issues relevant to the types of people eligible to live at the proposed youth almshouses and Christopher Boone’s Court.
• Able to take responsibility while maintaining good communication and accountability
• Proactive with a problem-solving aptitude
• A fast learner who’s able to interpret complex information
• Good commercial awareness and financial understanding
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Always reviewing and looking at ways to improve existing processes
• Good IT skills
