The Senior Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for identifying, developing and managing a portfolio of funders and donors including trusts, foundations and major donors to meet financial and non-financial targets. You will maximise income through the development of co-ordinated stewardship and relationship management.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a philanthropy or fundraising relationship management role, within the charity or not-for-profit sector. The Role

You will support the contract delivery of the Champions programmes, primarily Maths Champions, ensuring contract milestones are met. The Champions programmes are online professional development programmes designed to support early years settings to drive continuous improvement and increase high standards in early education for children from birth to five years, in line with the organisations mission to promote quality in early years for UK and international customers.

Working closely with other Early Years Advisors, delivery partners, managers and cross teams, you will be responsible for the delivery of Champions programmes.

You will work with the private, voluntary, maintained and independent sectors, and school provision providing advice and support relating to Champions programmes that enable practitioners within nursery settings with practice improvement resulting in better outcomes for children.

• Provide support to cohorts of early years practitioners

About You

You will have previous experience of working in early years, leading practice specifically in mathematical, language, literacy and communication as an early years professional or teacher.

Key responsibilities and tasks to meet the fundraising strategic targets:

Responsibility 1: Income generation

• Managing a portfolio of Trusts and Foundations to complete funding applications and, working with the Grants and Project Development Manager, to agree an annual programme of grant and trust applications to meet defined income targets.
• Assisting the Grants and Project Development Manager on major grant-funding applications and aligning smaller funds to secure match-funding for larger projects.
• Carrying out prospect research to identify new trust and grant funding opportunities.

Responsibility 2: Fund Relationship Management

• Stewarding an agreed portfolio of existing Trust and Foundation relationships, ensuring funder contributions are appropriately recognised and acknowledged and that grant criteria are met.
• Co-ordinating reports to funders, ensuring reports meet requirements and are sent on time.
• Developing new relationships with trust and foundation prospects identified to secure new income.
• Ensuring data on grant income and funders are updated and maintained to a high standard on the Trusts’ customer relationship management system (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT) and SWT SharePoint.
• Assisting with the administration of the Trust’s Programme Management Board (PMB) and project development documentation, helping develop cases of support and content for funding applications.

Responsibility 3: Supporting Wilder Fundraising Strategy

• Highlighting funding opportunities to SWT teams and contributing to funding applications led by other teams.
• Liaising with SWT Finance team to ensure grants are properly recorded, allocated and spending tracked.
• Providing additional support to the Fundraising & Marketing Team (F&M) and other SWT teams, as required and agreed with your line manager.

· Attend relevant external boards, fora and industry bodies, as directed in order to promote maritime apprenticeships and training including; Maritime Skills Alliance, Workboat Association, MNTB apprenticeship committee and Port Skills and Safety

· To attend industry trade fairs and careers events to represent Marine Society. These include; National Apprenticeship Week, Seawork, International Boat Show

· To research and monitor market trends, employer needs and competitor activity to inform business development strategy

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a recruitment, sales or commercial role with a proven track record of achieving financial targets
• Knowledge of the maritime sector including roles, ranks and certifications in the near coastal sector
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients and stakeholders

We’re looking for an experienced Programme Officer to join our team on a maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in the delivery of our In2STEM Programme during a busy and high impact period. You’ll benefit from a comprehensive handover, a supportive team environment, and the chance to make a real contribution from day one.

The Programme Officer will support the delivery of the In2STEM Programme including recruitment, planning, delivery, participant and volunteer management, and evaluation.

You will be responsible for recruitment, managing a caseload of students and volunteers (work experience hosts), and managing relationships with supporters and funders. You will also support the planning, delivery and evaluation of programme activities including training and inductions, placements, online workshops, competitions and celebration events.

In2scienceUK is a remote based organisation, that requires occasional travel across the UK for recruitment, events, internal & external meetings and staff co-working days.

Duties and responsibilities:

Programme Delivery

• Managing a caseload of students and volunteers (work experience hosts) from application stage to successful completion of the programme, including recruitment, matching, onboarding, troubleshooting throughout the programme and evaluation.

• Creating and developing engaging communication materials about the programme including video presentations, posters/flyers, case studies and website text, newsletters and images. 

• Monitoring student and volunteer (work experience host) applications to ensure targets and milestones are met. 

• Maintaining up to date records via the programme database and ensuring data protection. 

• Managing relationships with existing donors and supporters and networking to develop new relationships with prospective donors and supporters.

This role is well suited as a flexible, additional source of income. Most of our moderators are freelancers or consultants working alongside other roles.

Working pattern

Moderation takes place between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Sunday.

Rather than working in one continuous block, you’ll complete your hours in short check-ins across the day to maintain coverage and meet response time targets.

Each account is allocated a set number of ‘active moderation hours’ per day (e.g. 2-3 hours), which are spread across multiple sessions.

For example, 3 hours may be split into 5-6 check-ins throughout the day.

You must be able to:

• Start moderation from 9am (or earlier)

• Monitor activity throughout the day

• Complete a final check before 9pm

• Adhere to our sub-3-hour response time

Please note: In your first month, you will typically start on fewer accounts and hours (approx. 3 per day) while you get up to speed. Hours usually increase from month two onwards.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the voice of our charity partners, consistently applying their tone of voice and brand guidelines

• Respond to comments, messages and queries in a timely, accurate and empathetic way

• Maintain a response time of under three hours

• Identify, manage and de-escalate negative or inappropriate content

• Hide or remove content in line with moderation policies

• Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately

• Signpost users to relevant support services where needed

• Encourage positive engagement and supporter action, including donations where appropriate

• Work across a range of moderation tools e.g. Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, Agorapulse, Brandwatch

• Manage your workload independently while following clear processes and guidance

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Minimum 3 years’ professional communications experience, working in-house for a charity or non-profit

• Proven experience moderating social media channels

• Excellent written communication skills, with strong attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple check-ins

• Confidence in making judgement calls using guidance rather than scripts

• Understanding of fundraising and how charities engage supporters

• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-volume or sensitive situations

• Availability to work 3-6 days per week, including at least one weekend day

• Flexibility to adapt quickly if issues arise

Desirable

• Experience using moderation and social media management tools e.g. Sprout Social, Meta, Agorapulse, Brandwatch

The job

Reporting to the Financial Planning and Reporting Manager, this role plays a key part in supporting effective financial decision making across the organisation. The Management Accountant acts as a finance business partner to circa 20 budget holders across a diverse portfolio, including Building and Projects, Philanthropy and Fundraising, and corporate services functions such as Finance and IT.

The role supports stakeholders throughout the annual budget, forecasting and year end reporting cycle, ensuring that financial information is accurate, well understood and actively used to inform decision making. Responsibilities include producing monthly management accounts and commentary, providing financial analysis and insight for senior stakeholders, supporting budgets and forecasts, contributing to year end and audit processes, and delivering operational finance and ad hoc analytical support.

This is a hands on, outward facing role in a fast moving environment, offering broad exposure across a complex organisation.

The person

Candidates will have a proven finance background, ideally in management accounting or business partnering. You will be part-qualified, qualified, or with equivalent experience.

The successful individual will be technically strong, analytical and detail focused, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities. They will be confident engaging with non finance colleagues, building trusted relationships, and explaining financial information clearly and pragmatically.

Strong systems skills are required, particularly in Excel, with the ability to interrogate finance systems to extract insight. A flexible mindset, a proactive approach and a desire to continuously improve processes are essential.

The Role:

 

The role provides operational leadership across a defined operational area of the Trust’s reserves, ensuring land management, people management and community engagement deliver strong conservation outcomes. It involves leading and developing the local team, supporting volunteers and representing the Trust locally and nationally, whilst building robust relationships. The post oversees planning, delivery and quality assurance of reserve and project work, ensuring compliance with policies, health and safety and regulatory requirements. It also manages budgets, risks and ecological data, embedding evidenced based decision making and maintaining accurate documentation and supporting long-term site and project development. Through this combination of leadership and operational oversight, the role helps safeguard the Trust’s reserves and advance its conservation mission.

Main objectives:

 

Land management and project delivery
Manage wildlife reserve operations across the North Reserves Management Area, including conservation and land management and monitoring of 6,800 hectares across nine wildlife reserves with a range of habitats, including blanket bog, heaths, fens, maritime cliffs and grasslands, woodlands within the temperate rainforest zone, and montane vegetation communities.

Representation and stakeholder engagement
Build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, volunteers, contractors, communities and interested parties. Represent the Trust professionally at local, regional and national events and meetings, and proactively manage day‑to‑day issues with neighbours and partners.

People management and teamwork
Line manage and develop the operational area team, leading recruitment, induction and performance. Foster a positive organisational culture, support collaboration across teams, and act as the key local contact for members and volunteers. Help recruit, train and retain volunteers, and provide local operational insight to support fundraising, communications and policy work.

Information and operational management
Maintain risk registers, manage budgets, and promote a strong safety culture. Use ecological data to inform decision‑making, ensure data governance compliance, and support effective reporting and monitoring of conservation outcomes through internal systems.

 

The successful candidate will ideally:

 

• HND in environmental conservation or similar (essential)
• Degree / post graduate qualification in environmental conservation, countryside management or similar (desirable)
• Minimum three years in similar role – to include experience of management planning and coordinating practical conservation work (essential)
• Health and Safety legislation/procedures relating to outdoor working (essential)
• Evidence-based decision making (essential)
• Demonstrable experience of securing permissions and consents required for conservation and land management activities on Trust managed wildlife reserves, as well as identification, mitigation and management of practical constraints, including but not restricted to environmental, ecological and archaeological (essential)
• Working knowledge of Construction, Design and Management Regulations in context of conservation projects (essential)
• Working knowledge of Controlled Activities Regulations (essential)
• Experience of delivering upland conservation projects including peatland restoration, river restoration, conservation grazing and /or native woodland planting and regeneration.
• Experience of working within rural areas of Scotland.
• Demonstrable knowledge of upland deer management and conservation grazing for nature conservation purposes.
• Demonstrable knowledge of conservation and land management to mitigate against wildfire risk. 
• Demonstrable experience of communicating the importance of maintaining and expanding healthy habitats for wildlife and people.

The Role:
As a Database Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Data & Appeals Manager by ensuring our supporter and contact database (Raiser’s Edge) is effectively maintained and up to date. You will assist the wider Development team with reports and queries, help manage fundraising data and ensure the accuracy and integrity of donor information. 
 
Main responsibilities:
Assist in the daily management of the Raiser’s Edge database, ensuring data accuracy through regular audits.
Provide training and advice to colleagues on database access and usage, ensuring compliance with best practices.
Reconcile and process donations from various sources, including BACS, credit cards, and online platforms.
Run direct debit and gift aid claims, ensuring valid documentation is maintained.
Provide key data and segmentation for fundraising appeals and emails, working closely with the communications team.
 
Essential requirements:

• Experience in CRM systems (preferably Raiser’s Edge) and proficiency in MS Excel.
• Demonstrable experience supporting charities and fundraising teams in a data role.
• Confident working with large datasets.
• Solid understanding of GDPR and data confidentiality.
• Excellent communicator, a team player, and have a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent time management skills, able to prioritise daily tasks and manage deadlines.
