The Role

As our Head of Finance, you will be a key member of FHC’s Senior Management Team, providing strategic and operational leadership across finance and the wider resources portfolio (Finance, IT, Estates and Facilities). Working closely with the CEO and Trustees, you will ensure strong financial planning, robust controls, clear reporting and regulatory compliance.

Your main duties will include:

About you

The successful applicant will have: 

• Degree level or equivalent qualification in journalism, marketing, communications or a related field and evidence of continued professional development.
• Experience of developing and delivering successful, integrated campaigns that achieve measurable impact.
• Possess strong planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Have a good understanding of campaigning approaches, including behaviour change, digital-first and content-led campaigning and coproduction.

The Role

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the smooth running of all core finance functions, including:

• Payroll, pensions, and statutory returns
• Purchase and sales ledger (including varied client income streams)
• Bank reconciliations and cashflow management
• VAT returns (including partial exemption) and Gift Aid
• Monthly management accounts and reporting

You will be the go-to person for finance, working closely with the CEO and senior team to ensure strong financial control and provide clear, practical financial information.

About You

• Have solid experience in a finance or bookkeeping role

Key Responsibilities

1. Capital Fundraising Leadership

• Develop and deliver capital fundraising strategies to support major infrastructure and service development projects.
• Create compelling cases for support aligned to organisational strategy and impact.
• Identify and secure major gifts (£25k+) to support capital appeals.
• Work closely with senior leadership and Trustees to activate networks and fundraising influence.
• Monitor and report on capital fundraising performance against agreed targets.

2. High-Net-Worth Individual (HNW) Engagement

• Develop and manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and prospective major donors.
• Identify, research, and cultivate new prospects through networking, events, and relationship mapping.
• Develop bespoke engagement and stewardship plans for each donor.
• Lead face-to-face solicitations and gift negotiations.
• Deliver exceptional stewardship to maximise lifetime value and long-term engagement.

3. Corporate Fundraising & Partnerships

• Develop and implement a corporate fundraising strategy aligned to Brainkind’s mission and values.
• Secure new corporate partnerships including strategic, multi-year, and employee engagement partnerships.
• Develop sponsorship opportunities linked to capital projects, events, and services.
• Manage key account relationships and ensure high-quality reporting and impact demonstration.
• Explore cause-related marketing and CSR partnership opportunities.

4. Strategy & Collaboration

• Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy and annual income planning.
• Collaborate with communications and service teams to develop impactful donor materials.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and pipeline management using CRM systems.
• Maintain compliance with fundraising regulation and best practice

This is a leadership role responsible for contributing to and delivering a national fundraising strategy aligned to Brainkind’s organisational priorities, financial sustainability goals, and growth ambitions.

The postholder will manage and develop a small fundraising team, embed high-performance standards, and drive income generation across statutory trusts and foundations, major donors, corporate partnerships, community fundraising, events, and individual giving.

 MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership

• Contribute to, develop and deliver a multi-year fundraising strategy to achieve sustainable income growth.
• Set and manage annual income targets exceeding £500k to £1m.
• Identify new income streams aligned to Brainkind’s service model and expansion priorities.
• Work closely with senior leadership to align fundraising with operational and strategic objectives.

Income Generation (All Disciplines)

Lead and oversee income generation across:

• Trusts & Foundations – Develop compelling proposals for health, social care and rehabilitation funding.
• Corporate Partnerships – Secure and manage mutually beneficial local partnerships.
• Community & Events Fundraising – Grow supporter-led activity nationally.
• Individual Giving & Digital Campaigns – Strengthen acquisition, retention and legacy programmes.
• Statutory & Health Sector Funding (where applicable outside commissioned services).

Team Management

• Line manage, coach and develop a small fundraising team.
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.
• Set KPIs and ensure strong pipeline management and reporting.

Relationship & Stakeholder Management

• Act as an ambassador for Brainkind externally.
• Build strong internal relationships with operations, clinical teams, finance, and communications to gather impact data and case studies.
• Work closely with marketing/communications to strengthen brand-led fundraising campaigns.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and best practice (e.g. Fundraising Regulator, GDPR).
• Monitor ROI and cost-effectiveness across fundraising activities.

ABOUT YOU:

• Knowledge of a broad range of fundraising and charity sector activities.
• Knowledge of legal obligations for fundraising activities and all internal procedures and regulations and adherence to best practices, as defined by the organisation and Institute of Fundraising Code of Practice & Fundraising Regulator
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding fundraising income targets at £500k+ level (or comparable scale).

We’re looking for a Head of Income Growth to lead integrated fundraising, marketing, and communications across the Age UK Oxfordshire group, helping deliver our Strategy to 2030: For a fairer later life. Use insight, data, and performance management to inform decision‑making, strengthen propositions, improve return on investment, and give the CEO and Board a clear grip on income and engagement performance.

5.Leadership, culture, and capability

Lead and line‑manage all fundraising, marketing and communications staff, setting clear priorities, expectations and accountability, and building a confident, high‑performing culture aligned with the organisation’s values and Principles.

Qualifications

Working with individuals with learning disabilities we are a busy 8 bed residential service. The successful applicant will need to be enthusiastic, to adapt quickly and lead a diverse team in different and challenging situations.

We are looking for someone who is organised, pro-active, can multi-task and work on their own initiative, proficient in IT systems (or quick learner!), as well as working in a person-centred way.

The successful Service Coordinator will include overseeing care packages for the people we support (liaising with professionals and families, creating and updating support plans and risk assessments, etc), line managing staff (including but not limited to supervisions, role modelling, wellbeing check-ins, following policies and protocols, etc,).

You would be working as part of a small team where good verbal and written communication is essential. Other essential skills include the capacity to work within professional boundaries, yet meet individuals with empathy, and the ability to have difficult conversations while creating good working relationships with colleagues.

The position is full time, worked over 5 days and will require you to work regular weekends. You will be based at Crantock Drive, however an element of the position will require you to be able to get to other locations for training, meetings, etc.

The role

 We are seeking an experienced Manager of Philanthropic Giving with a strong track record in securing major gifts. The ideal candidate will excel at building trusted, long-term relationships with donors and feel confident leading conversations that result in significant philanthropic support. This role will also contribute to the development and delivery of a trusts and foundations strategy, helping to grow and strengthen our portfolio.

Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership and trustees, you will develop compelling funding propositions, steward donors and funders through excellent reporting and engagement, and represent myaware at meetings, events and networking opportunities. You will also maintain accurate records through our CRM system, track performance against targets, and contribute to income planning and reporting. This is a strategic and hands-on role with real impact for people affected by myasthenia.

The Manager of Philanthropic Giving will be predominantly home based within the UK (with occasional working and meetings at Derby HQ) and will work in co-operation with the fundraising team and all myaware colleagues to deliver agreed fundraising targets and campaigns. Own transport is essential for this role as occasional travel throughout the UK will be required to attend donor meetings, events and networking opportunities, as well as the ability to travel to the Derby office. There may be the need to occasionally work during weekends and evenings and therefore there is a need to work flexibly when required.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced and motivated fundraising professional with a strong track record in major donor fundraising along with experience in Trusts and Foundations fundraising. You will have experience in personal communication in asking for high level funds, and experience of stewarding high net worth individuals to maintain high levels of engagement over a significant period. You will have experience of Trusts and Foundations fundraising including pipeline management and stewardship, writing compelling funding applications and impact reports.

You will be a strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal, research and organisational skills, confident managing a complex pipeline and working collaboratively across teams. You will be comfortable working independently, using CRM systems, and engaging senior stakeholders, including trustees and high-level donors. Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. 

We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition.
