The Role
As Senior Communications Officer, you will:

The Digital Communications Manager is responsible for leading and expanding the Trust's digital presence, ensuring our research, policy priorities, programmes, and alumni stories are shared in an impactful way with external audiences. Reporting to the Head of Communications and Public Affairs, and working closely with one direct report, they will deliver a step change in digital communications activity, driving data-led improvements and developing new and compelling multimedia content for the Trust's website, social media channels and digital communications.
Main duties
Website and digital communications
- Oversee the management and strategic development of the Sutton Trust website and associated microsites.
- Ensure the main site delivers impactful communications showcasing the breadth of the Trust’s work, whilst being responsive to the needs of our key audiences: students, teachers, policymakers, academics and media.
- Lead on relationships with external web developers to drive forward improvements to the Trust’s websites, ensuring quality user experience and SEO optimisation.
- Use Google Analytics and other monitoring tools to evaluate website performance and inform improvements.
- Project manage the production of video content, and other similar projects.
- Format reports, design graphics and create digital assets, supported closely by the Senior Digital Communications Officer.
- Edit the Trust’s regular email newsletter, ensuring content is of the highest quality.

Social media
- Oversee the development and delivery of the Trust’s strategy for growing its social media presence through Linkedin, Bluesky, X, Instagram and other emerging platforms as appropriate.

- Develop and deliver strategies to maximise reach and engagement, including working with partners, alumni and influencers.

Person Specification
We welcome applications from individuals who have experience in:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of managing digital communications infrastructure and social media channels.
- Significant experience in managing a website, including good knowledge of HTML and CSS, WordPress and Google Analytics.
- Creative flair and a knack for distilling complex ideas into compelling content.
- A good understanding of Canva, InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop to design infographics and other imagery.
- Experience of video content production, particularly for social media.
- Experience of using social media platforms and analytics successfully and a willingness to explore new channels. Understanding of LinkedIn, Bluesky, X and TikTok would be advantageous, as would previous experience using Google Analytics to monitor and drive improvements.
- An eye for detail, and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.

Terms of Appointment
- Contract: Full-time, Permanent
- Salary: £42,025
- Working location: Minimum of 2 office days per week, but further flexibility may be required given the external-facing nature of the role
- Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP. Our home working policy gives staff the option to work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.
- Hours: The standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and may also be required to attend events / meetings outside of their normal working hours during weekday evenings and occasionally at weekends. This role also shares primary responsibility for monitoring the out of hours media line with the Head of Communications and Public Affairs.

Overall Job Purpose
This role is pivotal in making sure the HR & Culture team is a credible, approachable and proactive department and supports staff and volunteers to achieve DENS’ organisational aims. As the first point of contact for advice and support on all aspects of the employee life cycle, from recruitment to exit, you’ll keep on top of tasks and take ownership of supporting staff and managers with their HR queries. Duties and Responsibilities
• Respond to all HR and training queries, support staff with their HR needs such as recruitment, induction, absence, pay and benefits, escalating to the Head of HR & Culture where needed.
• Support the Head of HR & Culture to review, develop and maintain standard frameworks and documents for all HR processes, to ensure consistency of approach and best practice across all teams at DENS.
• Take ownership for managing compliance within the employee life cycle, including onboarding, offboarding, ensuring letters are produced, spreadsheets/databases are updated and associated paperwork collected.
• Lead on recruitment of all posts, including preparing and posting job advertisements. Liaise with hiring managers to offer guidance on screening applications and interview questions, ensuring timely communication with candidates. Draft and issue offer letters, contracts of employment and other onboarding documentation
. • Carry out pre-employment checks including references, Right to Work and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks
. • Deliver the HR Induction for new starters and regularly review the induction process to ensure it is kept up to date and is accessible.
• Ensure payroll administration is accurately completed for the monthly cut-off date, in liaison with the Finance team and payroll provider.
• Maintain and monitor staff records, including training, appraisals, annual leave, sickness absence, ensuring that pay is adjusted accordingly in line with DENS’ policies.

TRAIN is a youth work charity based in South Oxfordshire. We support young people aged 10 to 18 in Didcot, Wallingford and the surrounding areas, especially those who are under-served.
Young people in our communities are facing complex challenges. Mental health struggles, pressures at school, family instability and the impact of poverty can leave them feeling isolated or overlooked. Too often, they don’t have access to the right support at the right time. TRAIN exists to change that. We offer trusted relationships with adults outside positions of authority, safe spaces where young people can be themselves, and opportunities to grow in confidence, make positive choices and feel part of their community.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a key support role in a small, values-driven charity. While most people know TRAIN for its youth work, the smooth running of our organisation depends on good systems, clear admin and reliable behind-the-scenes support. That’s what this role is about.
As Charity Support Officer, you’ll take care of the day-to-day admin that keeps us organised, while also supporting projects and events that help TRAIN grow. Some responsibilities are regular — such as finance processing, HR and volunteer onboarding, responding to enquiries and keeping records accurate. Others will vary week to week, from preparing a funder report to liaising with contractors on a website update or helping coordinate the Didcot Youth Festival.
We’re looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and comfortable juggling different tasks. You won’t be expected to lead major projects or make big decisions, but you will be the first port of call for the small, steady tasks that make a big difference. If you enjoy variety, value attention to detail, and want to play a part in supporting life-changing youth work, this role could be a good fit.
This is a part-time role of 15 hours per week, which can be worked flexibly. The role is based in Didcot or Wallingford with hybrid working. We expect at least some office time each week, but for exceptional candidates, we will consider a fully remote arrangement.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Core (day-to-day focus)
- Communications and enquiries – be the first point of contact for general enquiries via email and social media, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Project coordination and events – Coordinate various ad hoc projects (e.g. website refresh, new systems) and provide support for events such as the Didcot Youth Festival.
- HR and volunteer support – coordinate onboarding for staff and volunteers, including references, DBS checks and inductions.
- Office and building liaison – help keep the Didcot youth centre running smoothly by liaising with the landlord/service manager and handling facilities needs.

Brief Description/Summary
As Patient Service Co-ordinator you will be responsible for managing referrals from our service users, who are all those affected by kidney disease in Wales, including children, youths, adults, and families. You will build and maintain constructive working relationships with people who use our services, people with kidney disease, carers, colleagues, and community networks
Our Patient Service Co-ordinator acts as a vital liaison, responsible for managing all referrals from our service users, identifying the support needed, facilitating appointments for peer support and counselling, communicating between patients, referrers, volunteer peer mentors and counsellors. Referring patients to internal services as well as external organisations. Other duties include providing general advice and guidance, developing links with external providers, organisation or individuals that can support our kidney community of Wales, administrative support include assisting accessing healthcare services, maintaining referral records, and resolving referral concerns to support efficient and effective care.
As Patient Services Co-ordinator you will also build relationships with Health Care Professionals to help raise awareness of our services, building our referral partners to ensure all patients are supported at the point of need.
Salary is Grade 1 to Grade 2, based on a 40 hour work week with paid breaks. It is also based on experience.

• Develop and embed a People and Culture Strategy in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Board.
• Be the trusted expert HR Advisor to Senior Leaders, the lead on all formal Employee Relations (ER) related cases, and coach the HR & Culture Officer to support managers on informal cases.
• Keep abreast of employment law, case law and trends, sharing these with key stakeholders to ensure policy and practices are not only compliant but innovative, and supporting the assessment and mitigation of people related risks

TRAIN is a youth work charity based in South Oxfordshire. We support young people aged 10 to 18 in Didcot, Wallingford and the surrounding areas, especially those who are under-served.
Young people in our communities are facing complex challenges. Mental health struggles, pressures at school, family instability and the impact of poverty can leave them feeling isolated or overlooked. Too often, they don’t have access to the right support at the right time. TRAIN exists to change that. ABOUT THE ROLE
As Fundraising and Communications Coordinator, your main focus will be trusts and foundations: researching opportunities, writing persuasive applications and producing clear reports. You’ll also play a part in growing support from corporates, community fundraising, individual donors and major gifts, helping to build a broader base of income over time.
Alongside this, you’ll lead on communications. That means keeping our website and social channels current, producing supporter newsletters, and sharing our story more widely through PR and campaigns. You’ll help make sure the difference TRAIN makes for young people is seen and understood by funders, partners and the local community.
It’s a hands-on role, well-suited to someone who enjoys writing, building relationships and juggling different projects. You don’t need to be an experienced fundraiser — we’re open to people with transferable skills, whether from corporate, public or third sector backgrounds. What matters most is that you can communicate clearly, organise your workload, and are motivated by making a difference for young people.
You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the rest of the team. This is a part-time role of approximately 30 hours per week, which can be worked flexibly. The role is based in Didcot with hybrid working, but for the right candidate we will consider a fully remote arrangement.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Salary: £28,598 - £31,022 FTE (pro-rated, depending on experience)
- Contract: Permanent, part-time, approx. 30 hours per week. We can be flexible on the exact number and when they are worked.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising (approx. 80%)
- Pipeline and planning – work with the CEO to keep a clear fundraising plan, with trusts and foundations as the main focus alongside manageable growth in corporates, community, and individual giving.
- Trusts and foundations – research prospects, build a live pipeline, and write strong, tailored bids. Prepare accurate budgets and gather evidence from the team to strengthen proposals.
- Reporting and stewardship – deliver timely reports, thank funders and donors well, and manage renewals and uplift opportunities.
- Relationship development – nurture links with local businesses, community groups and potential major donors. Prepare simple proposals and support fundraising events or activities as needed.
- Systems and compliance – maintain accurate records of applications, deadlines and outcomes. Ensure fundraising activity is compliant with GDPR and charity regulations.
Communications (approx. 20%)
- Supporter communications – produce engaging newsletters, updates and thank-yous that connect donors and partners with TRAIN’s impact.
- Digital presence – update the website and social media channels with accurate, timely content that reflects TRAIN’s work and values.
- PR and profile – share stories with local media, partners and networks. Ensure TRAIN’s messaging is clear, consistent and accessible.
- Community engagement – promote TRAIN’s profile, youth offer, brand and presence in the community.
General
- Work closely with the CEO to align fundraising and comms priorities.
- Collaborate with youth work staff to gather stories, quotes and data that demonstrate TRAIN’s impact.
- Represent TRAIN at meetings and community events.
- Contribute to the life of a small, collaborative team.
