Job description

Are you passionate about building a high performing team to support clients experiencing homelessness?

This post is offered as a fixed term contract until 29/03/2027 (Maternity cover) or as a secondment for internal staff.

The Bristol Complex Needs team is dedicated to providing clients with complex needs and/or mental health issues with a safe environment in which to build their confidence, promote opportunities for positive change and support their recovery journey and move on.

In the rewarding role of Deputy Manager you will be supporting the day-to-day management of our hostel accommodation; providing a safe and supportive environment to vulnerable homeless men and women.

Working across the St Mungo’s Bristol Accommodation Service, including Toll House Court with 20 supported housing bedspaces, and our High Stability Housing scheme you will also be responsible for the line management of team members; offering motivation and supervision to deliver high quality housing related support with a recovery-focused and person-centred approach.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and creative individual with:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable people and supporting a service delivery team.
  • The ability to negotiate with a wide range of internal and external partners and build positive working relationships.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise your own time and workload.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the housing and support needs of people experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience of motivating and empowering staff and/or volunteers to take responsibility for delivering a high quality service to a vulnerable client group.
  • Above all we are looking for passionate people who are committed to the overall aims and objectives of the service.

We believe in the value of lived experience and welcome applications from people who can draw on personal experience (e.g. homelessness, mental health struggles, addiction, abuse, exploitation, time in care or the justice system) to build rapport and support clients within a  recovery focused approach.
