Role Summary

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual who is passionate about collaboration and community-led change. As a Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for managing a mixed portfolio of supporters with a view to growing this pool to deliver a mixture of revenue which can sustain and grow our ambitions and work. This will involve taking responsibility for nurturing and growing an existing philanthropic pool of funders whilst identifying, cultivating and mapping new high value opportunities, in excess of £75k. For your portfolio you will manage donor acquisition strategies, proposal writing and stewardship and supporter journey planning. 

The role involves securing funding from various sources, including trusts, corporations, and individuals, to support the charity’s mission. This includes developing and maintaining strong donor relationships, managing a portfolio of donors, and managing fundraising pipelines.

The ideal candidate will therefore be proactive, results-driven, and skilled in developing insight-led strategies, managing solicitations, along with the ability to create processes, gather insights, and propose budgets. You’ll be passionate about continuous improvement, have a proactive attitude and be comfortable in suggesting new and/or better ways of working. Key Objectives:

• As a member of the Fundraising team, you will work across all parts of the fundraising process, from prospect research all the way through to the fundraising ask.

• You will work collaboratively within the Fundraising team and the wider organisation to develop compelling fundraising proposals for corporate donors, high net worth individuals, community appeals and trusts and foundations. 

• You will seek out and identify patterns of prospect and funder data and behaviours which inform our growth and generate ideas and solutions

• You will problem solve with others enabling planning and anticipation of challenges and opportunities

Fundraising Objectives:

• Develop a high value pipeline of prospects and funders which has a balanced approach across acquisition, retention and uplift to meet team targets and which provides the best supporter experience.

• Manage a personal portfolio through all stages of the fundraising cycle, within an overall fundraising team target, demonstrating an understanding of how to mitigate risk, maximise return on investment and give a focus to unrestricted income generation.

• Manage and cultivate prospect and funder relationships in their entirety, with responsibility for planning briefings, proposal writing, stakeholder engagement, reporting, stewardship, delivery, and evaluation.

• Research, prepare, and submit high-quality grant applications to charitable trusts, foundations, and other funding bodies utilising different funder approaches including bids, applications, proposals and EOIs, all delivering high-quality experiences and materials to secure funding. 

• Monitor and report on the progress of fundraising activities and grant applications, providing regular updates to the management team.

• Plan and write bespoke engagement plans (e.g. stewardship reports), including report-writing and impact analysis, and coordinating event and PR milestone activities.

• Work with internal & external stakeholders to develop new projects and ensure donor requirements and engagement opportunities are met.

Team and Operational Objectives:

• Help colleagues and supporters overcome any challenges and maximise their fundraising efforts.

• Manage your time and workload, and utilise our given processes, systems, and parameters to overcome barriers

• Support funder account management and compliance through planning, financial budgeting, and record keeping. 

• Ensure that systems and processes are effective, and that our database is updated and utilised as the central source of information for recording income, supporter interactions and reporting. 

• Ensure all supporters are appropriately thanked and help develop specific supporter journeys.

• Identify potential funding opportunities and contribute to philanthropic discovery exercises across new territories and themes

• Build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders from corporate partners through to community groups.

Person Specification

Experience (essential)

• Experience in a charity fundraising role.

• A successful track record of building strong internal and external relationships and generating income from a broad range of funders

• Experience in fundraising preferably from Trust and Foundations; both family, corporate and individual, and partnership bid development.

• Experience in all aspects of donor cultivation (research, writing, follow-up, and stewardship), required

• Experience closing gifts at the six-figure level, including complex gifts using a variety of giving vehicles

• Pipeline development and management thereof, to ensure multi year planning and team financial target contributions are reflected.

• Proven track record in achieving financial and non-financial targets and in forecasting/ setting KPI’s

• Experience in identifying and acquiring new business opportunities and creatively retaining long term funder relationships

• Knowledge of prospect research techniques

• Maintaining a library of templated materials

Winston’s Wish is a digital first organisation leading the way in Digital Transformation across the Bereavement sector. We have an exciting opportunity to join our ambitious Mass participation team as our Individual Giving Manager.  This role plays a vital part in helping Winston’s Wish turn up the dial across our Individual Giving Fundraising. The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for creating, developing and delivering a fundraising plan to grow existing and new support for Winston’s Wish across our online and offline channels. This includes Direct Mails, Regular Giving, our Lottery, Legacies and In Memory giving income streams.

As the driving force behind our individual giving activity, you will help us to engage individuals across the country by bringing them closer to our work, encouraging them to stay longer, give more and become true ambassadors for our vital work with grieving children, young people and families. We’re looking for a highly creative individual who can help us to stay one-step ahead of the curve and excite new and existing audiences to get behind our vision of a society in which every child can get the help they need when someone close to them has died.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

• Lead on the development and implementation of our Individual Giving strategy, supported by the Head of Mass Participation and the Director of Fundraising & Marketing.
• Ensure all opportunities and future plans are in line with Winston’s Wish’s over-arching fundraising strategy to meet financial targets, organisational objectives and KPIs.
• Maintain an awareness of philanthropy trends, news, events and legislation in the UK to ensure that Winston’s Wish remains up to date on key changes which are likely to impact on individual giving.

Generating Individual Giving Income

• Lead on and deliver a plan to increase individual giving income from streams including, but not exclusive to, direct mail, regular giving, legacies, in-mem and our charity lottery
• Effective use of KPIs to ensure decisions are driven by evidence and real-time data.
• Continuously analyse our income and supporter data to measure effectiveness of activities and return on investment.
• Work alongside our design agencies and in-house marketing team to develop and manage direct mail campaigns, including segmentation to ensure campaigns will be carefully targeted and designed to maximise income.
• Explore and test new methods for donor recruitment and increasing donations.
• Seek every opportunity to increase awareness of legacy giving to Winston’s Wish and monitor the effectiveness of these activities over time.
• Manage a growing portfolio of legacy enquirers with appropriate contact and timely solicitation of prospective legators including hosting events and tailored stewardship.
• Manage the stewardship and development of our regular giving programme including uplift campaigns and solicitation of new donors to agreed targets.
• Work alongside the wider fundraising team to ensure effective cross-selling of individual giving products and vice-versa identify opportunities to introduce other fundraising products to our individual givers.
• Identify supporters who could provide compelling content which could be used by the wider Fundraising & Marketing team to inspire further support including suggesting key individuals who could feature in online and offline publications.
• Work with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager to ensure that potential major donors are identified and included in relevant activities.

Administration

• Diligently maintain records of all interactions with supporters on Salesforce.
• Ensure all activities comply with appropriate legal, regulatory and fundraising good practice and with Winston’s Wish policies and standards.
• Keep a close eye on incoming donations to ensure they are coded correctly and that supporter data is accurately recorded in accordance with GDPR.
• Effective management and control of expenditure across all projects and campaigns in line with agreed expenditure budgets.

The Supporter-led Fundraising (SLF) Department at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for mass fundraising through enabling individuals, communities and companies to support ARUK through their own talents and passions. As well as driving registrations and income through third party, virtual and mass participation events and managing these relationships to maximise income.

We are looking to for an Online Fundraising Executive to support the team. In this role you will be the face of our friendly and passionate Online Fundraising Team; building relationships with supporters who use online channels to fundraise such as Facebook challenges, streaming and crypto donors.

You will also be at the forefront of the fundraising sector as it develops; keen to understand new areas of growth, you will help spot potential and trends in new areas of online fundraising and be willing to adapt to this quickly changing area.

You will provide crucial administrative support to ensure the smooth integration of our online fundraising systems across ARUK. Support may include adding accurate details to our database, tracking and monitoring income, responsibility for online donation platforms and virtual fundraising as well as general administrative duties in the office.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Online Administrative Support

· Steward online fundraising supporters, with a particular focus on Facebook challenge moderation and messaging

· Lead on specific fundraising processes e.g. merchandise for Facebook challenges

JOB PURPOSE

Based within the global Fundraising team, the Programme Fundraising Manager will generate sustainable income and play a pivotal role in delivering fundraising strategies to support the mission and objectives of Lumos, including the 10-year ambition to be launched in November 2025.

Working with country programmes in Colombia, Kenya, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as the global system change programme, the postholder will manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors, positioning Lumos to secure new and repeat funding from charitable trusts, foundations and institutions. The role will also provide advice and support to the wider Fundraising team, building team capacity and writing compelling proposals to engage High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) and other funders in Lumos programmes.

We are looking for a skilled relationship-builder and strategic thinker who has strong writing skills and experience working with donors. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across Programmes, Communications, Operations, and Finance, and act as a trusted partner to senior leaders across the organisation. KEY OBJECTIVES

Prospecting & Engagement

• Develop and manage a pipeline of short, medium and longer-term prospects for each programme area under the 10-year ambition through research, strategic positioning and targeted outreach
• Identify new funding opportunities and support programme teams to align donor interests with Lumos’ work, collaborating with colleagues to develop tailored approaches
• Project manage programme fundraising appeals (e.g. targeted Trust mailings) in coordination with the Programmes and Communications teams

• Support senior leaders in managing key donor relationships through tactical advice, briefings, and pitch preparation

We are looking for someone to cover maternity leave for our Head of Fundraising and Communications. The post holder will lead the strategic direction for our fundraised income and deliver this alongside our ambitious Communications Strategy. We are recruiting for a 13 month contract beginning in mid September 2025.

We are looking for an excellent relationship builder, who can inspire and motivate our fundraising team and guide our senior leadership team and trustees in navigating a changing fundraising landscape. You will have in depth knowledge of a range of fundraising income sources and already be an established team leader with excellent fundraising sector insight. We need someone who can support and guide our team through this period.

As a Fundraiser you will:

• Support the Senior Fundraisers in growing direct fundraising activities.
• Assist in the planning and execution of direct fundraising campaigns, including the setup of new fundraising agencies and campaigns.
• Conduct mystery shopping and call listening to monitor the quality and compliance of fundraising activities carried out by external agencies, ensuring they meet expected ethical and regulatory standards.
• Ensure campaigns adhere to compliance standards and best practices.
• Monitor performance metrics, income, and expenditure.
• Advocate for the mission, ensuring that fundraising activities align with values.
• Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to drive success.

To be successful, you must have experience:

• Highly developed written communication skills to understand, interpret and present complex information in a clear and persuasive way for a range of audience
• Have strong ability to record, analyse, and present financial data in an accurate and impactful way.
• Have experience using Windows based software like Excel, Word, and email, to carry out tasks and projects.
• Willingness to travel across the UK for mystery shopping and engage with external agencies to ensure high standards of fundraising.
• A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic team.

The Role
Work with the Individual Giving Manager, Fundraiser (Individual Giving) and wider fundraising team to administer donor support communication.

Administering the individual giving fundraising programme with support from the wider team.

Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners and associated organisation as agreed by your line manager.

Plan, execute and assistant in delivering national and large-scale fundraising activities.

Thank all donors in a timely manner via e-mail and letters and keep accurate records.

Ensure that the database CRM records for our supporters and donors are maintained and up to date.

The Candidate

Good telephone manner, including showing empathy towards in-memory and legacy donors.

Ability to record data accurately.
Self-motivated and confident in working both independently and in teams.

Good communicator, including face-to-face, phone, in writing and via remote communications.

Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise workload and plan-ahead.

Good IT skills (MS Office including Outlook, Excel and Word).
