The Events team is a part of a wider Engagement team, responsible for raising more than £23 million this year!

This role would be working with the Senior Events Officer and another Events Officer, and would help deliver the charity's biggest and best London Marathon event (likely spending 75% of the time working on London Marathon, and the remaining 25% working on another event in the portfolio).

Supporter engagement sits at the core of the role, with a focus on meeting and exceeding engagement and fundraising KPIs through proactive communication, tailored guidance, and personalised stewardship.

You would need to interpret and analyse performance data to optimise supporter journeys, strengthen campaign effectiveness and maximise income.

Work closely with supporters to understand their motivations, while collaborating effectively with colleagues across teams.

Support with key events and activities, with some travel and out of hours working required to help deliver high quality, on the ground supporter experiences.

The candidate

• Experience working on peer-to-peer fundraising programmes and delivering memorable fundraising experiences for supporters.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build authentic and effective relationships with supporters.
• Track record of monitoring and meeting targets and KPIs, ensuring strong ROI and supporter engagement.

The role will focus on community growing through the cultivation of fruits, vegetables and herbs alongside practical delivery to groups and individuals to help develop skills, confidence and knowledge needed to create and champion wildlife-friendly spaces within their own communities across the Island. About the Team
This role sits within the Communications Team and works closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Content, Marketing, Media and Digital teams supporting the National Autistic Society's partnership as TCS London Marathon Charity of the Year 2027.

Together, we are delivering It's Time to Show Up, a national campaign that aims to improve understanding of autism, create a more inclusive society and inspire meaningful change.Storytelling will be at the heart of this campaign, helping us engage supporters, participants, autistic people and their families throughout the marathon journey and beyond.

About the Role
As our Senior Stories Officer, you will play a key role in bringing the National Autistic Society's 2027 London Marathon partnership to life through powerful, authentic storytelling.You will identify, develop and share compelling stories from autistic people, families, supporters, participants and celebrities that support our campaign, It's Time to Show Up.

Working across multiple channels, you will create engaging content including case studies, blogs, news stories, social media content and multimedia storytelling.Your work will help drive fundraising, increase awareness and build a lasting legacy of understanding and inclusion for autistic people.

What You’ll Do

• Identify, develop and produce compelling stories that bring the It's Time to Show Up campaign to life.
• Interview autistic people, family members, supporters, celebrities, participants and colleagues with empathy and sensitivity.
• Create engaging content including case studies, blogs, news stories, social media content and video scripts.
• Plan and deliver storytelling activity around key campaign milestones and fundraising opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in journalism, storytelling, copywriting or communications within a professional environment.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and channels.
• Experience interviewing people from diverse backgrounds and sharing authentic stories with impact.
• Experience creating multi-channel content, including digital and social media content.

This advert is for a full-time, fixed term position (9 months) at 35 hours per week.

This role is Homebased, with occasional travel to interviews, filming and photography shoots, team meetings and the TCS London Marathon event in April 2027.

About the role

We’re looking for a London Marathon Officer to join Young Lives vs Cancer and help deliver an exceptional experience for Team Young Lives vs Cancer runners, supporters and volunteers at the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon. 

This is an unprecedented, one-off event year and one of our biggest fundraising opportunities – so we’re looking for someone who’s ready to play a hands-on role in making it a huge success. 

This fixed-term role sits in our Sports and Challenge Events team, working closely with the Sports and Challenge Events Portfolio Manager to steward our marathon fundraisers, build strong supporter relationships and keep our communities motivated across email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, post and social channels. 

You’ll also support event delivery, including registration and training systems, fundraising materials, income checks, volunteer coordination and race-week logistics. We’re looking for someone organised, proactive and confident juggling priorities in a busy events environment. 

You’ll need to be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends, with additional office attendance in Bristol and London ahead of the event and availability during London Marathon week in April 2027 (20th to 25th April). 

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Build relationships with supports by answering queries across email, SMS, phone and post
• Managing community groups within Facebook, Strava and WhatsApp
• Supporting the Sports and Challenges portfolio manager to deliver a London Marathon multi channel stewardship journey
• Identify high value supporters and build personalised relationships with the aim of building long terms support for the charity
• Data management of fundraisers and event participants across set events in CRM (CARE) 
• Build relationships with key internal stakeholders
• Support with creating stewardship assets and managing the fulfilment of fundraising materials when need
• Support with the delivery of the event day logistics for the London Marathon Running Show and London Marathon event day

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled writer and communicator to tell the stories of SAT-7 and the people of the MENA in fresh and powerful ways. You’ll be working in a fast-paced, creative environment as part of the Communications & Marketing Team, delivering high quality content across a range of platforms. You’d be writing engaging podcast and video scripts, powerful viewer testimonies, inspiring articles for our website or print magazine and attention-grabbing email copy. You’ll be one of the main points of contact with our international office and Middle Eastern TV studios, gathering and repurposing impactful stories and resourcing the wider UK team.

All of this would support our 5-year strategic outcomes:

1. To see an increased and actively engaged support base giving regularly to sustain the work of SAT-7, so that SAT-7 UK is raising a sustainable £4M with over 3,500 donors.

2. Supporters and funders have a deepened understanding of the challenges faced by Christians and the people of the MENA region, and impact of SAT-7, to create opportunities to pray, engage and partner for change.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write engaging content for a range of platforms, including print and digital, such as articles, scripts and email copy
• Prepare episode templates, invite and research guests for the ‘Around the Table’ podcast with captivating and informative topics through highlighting regional issues and Christian context
• Assist the Senior Editor in writing copy and copy editing for prayer resources, such as monthly 7 Ways to Pray and seasonal campaigns at Lent and Advent, that will encourage prayer engagement, raise awareness of SAT-7’s work and expand SAT-7’s support base
• Show how God is at work in the MENA, and mobilise increased prayer for the issues affecting different people groups and MENA Christians
• Inform supporters and the wider public about the context, news, challenges and opportunities for the MENA region and Church
• Assist the Senior Editor in the production of copy for Insight magazine, writing effective and inspiring copy to demonstrate the impact of SAT-7 and inspire supporters to take action
• Repurpose written content from SAT-7’s international office for use across a range of platforms, and adapt and upload articles to the SAT-7 UK website
• Gather news and contextual information to generate content for flagship supporter publications, and support other teams as required (e.g. for events, campaigns, appeals, church presentations, prayer updates and reports)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure consistent messaging, branding and tone of voice and that content conforms to SAT-7 security, communication and style guides for a range of different audiences
• Communicate sensitively and positively about the MENA region and the work of SAT-7
• Assist the Communications & Marketing Manager and other colleagues as required
• Operate at all times within relevant statutory requirements and guidelines, following best practice recommendations wherever possible, and especially ensure compliance with the Fundraising Regulator Code and GDPR legislation
