Job description

Citizens Advice Croydon is a leading provider of legal advice and information, supporting thousands of clients every year.  We deliver high quality advice and are looking for someone who will be committed to delivering excellent customer service and working to the highest standards.

The successful candidate will ideally have completed the Citizens Advice Energy training and/or the NEA Level 3 City and Guilds Level Energy Awareness training.  However, if you have at least one year's experience of providing generalist advice, particularly welfare benefits, debt or housing advice, then this role could be a development opportunity for you.

In this role you will assess each client's situation in depth, identifying the most appropriate strategies to support with energy related matters, including exploring every opportunity to maximise income.  Energy advice includes the following types of support:

  • checking and understanding utility bills and tarriffs
  • energy saving tips
  • energy efficiency measures
  • reading and understanding meters/smart meters
  • energy debt management and crisis support
  • winter fuel payments
  • warm home discounts
  • priority services register

You must be confident in providing advice to clients on an individual basis as well as through group activity such as energy workshops.

We offer a warm and friendly working environment, hybrid working arrangments, generous leave and other staff benefits and the opportunity to develop professionally.
