ABOUT THE ROLE 

Team: Delivery/ Infrastructure 

As the Senior Engineer, you will lead the production and technical review of project and programme outputs. 

You will manage typical projects and low risk programmes. Your work will make a strong contribution to the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s vision by delivering high impact and innovative solutions. 

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including designers, engineers, technicians, and other technical specialists. 

 
Your role is to support the successful delivery of projects and programmes that align with the Trust’s strategic priorities. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Manage typical projects and low risk programmes from start to finish.
• Lead the creation and technical review of project and programme outputs, using your recognised technical expertise.
• Understand when existing technical guidance is not enough and know how to work effectively when guidance is limited or does not exist.
• Provide line management, supervision, or mentoring to colleagues in more junior roles.  

This role is ideal for someone with strong design skills who’s ready for a real challenge and wants to use their expertise to improve the world around them. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll take the lead on delivering innovative, high‑impact projects that make walking, wheeling and cycling safer and more enjoyable for communities across the UK. You’ll work at the forefront of sustainable transport design — pushing boundaries where guidance is limited, shaping solutions that genuinely transform places, and mentoring others as you go. ABOUT YOU

• You have either a degree (or an equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject such as Civil Engineering or another clearly relevant and demonstrable specialism, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience or 5 years of relevant work experience without a degree.

• You have up to date working knowledge of sustainable transport design and delivery. 
  This includes awareness of innovation, best practice, inclusive design, and the use of technology.
• You have thorough working knowledge of current health and safety legislation and practices, including how to correctly apply the CDM Regulations.

About the Role:

You will provide high quality support to all victims and witnesses of crime and Anti-Social Behaviour, leading on completing initial impact and risk assessments that are comprehensive and holistic. You will also you will contribute to cover for the Helpline.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact for service users referred in to the service, completing comprehensive impact and risks assessments using agreed processes and a tailoring the response to each individual's needs.
• Manage a caseload of service users who require more immediate and short term interventions, referring on those with more long term needs either internally or externally.
• Develop support plans where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case management records and contribute to monitoring information for the service and provide accurate and timely performance information for internal and external use.
• Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns including both child protection and vulnerable adult issues.
• Ensure that everyone is aware of their rights under the Victim's Code of Practice and the Witness Charter..
• Comply and keep up to date with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including data protection legislation, confidentiality.
• Work as part of a team to ensure that all outcomes and Key Performance Measures are met relevant to the local contract.

Ideally you will have:

• Experience of delivering a service and working directly with service users in a statutory, voluntary or community work setting
• Experience of working in an outcomes focused service
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system and the impact of crime
• Knowledge and understanding of Domestic Abuse processes and services
• Experience of engaging with vulnerable victims of crime who may have complex needs

You will need:

• Strong written & verbal communication skills.

We are a team with a desire to provide excellent stewardship to our donors and maximise our fundraising potential in the UK. As the first point of contact, this role plays a vital part in ensuring our supporters receive a high standard of customer service.

You will manage our supporter care inbox and phone line, handling everything from donation enquiries to complaints with empathy and efficiency. You will also support with processing post and ensure our donors receive the appropriate acknowledgement for their support.

Role Responsibilities  

• Manage and respond to those who contact UK for UNHCR directly by email, phone or mail and escalate queries where necessary.
• Deliver a first-class supporter experience and ensure each point-of-contact works to build and develop the engagement journey.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records within the charity database, assist with data administration, and ensure data is handled in accordance with regulations.
• Champion supporter care best practice by resolving supporter pain points, sharing supporter insights and feedback with colleagues, and supporting fundraising teams in evaluating campaign performance to identify opportunities to improve the supporter journey.
• Assist with fulfilment agency briefs and quality control measures.
• Work with teams, agencies and third-party platforms to deliver donation processing and campaign fulfilment, ensuring efficient donor acknowledgment
• Support fundraising teams during emergencies.
• Support the fundraising team to deliver high quality in person events in as well as virtual stewardship events.
• Provide personalised in-house thanking for different supporter segments and deliver thanking initiatives such as a thankathons.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for supporter engagement activities and stewardship events, including coordination of materials, attendance lists and on-the-day support.

• An understanding of fundraising administration such as Gift Aid, marketing preferences, and direct debits.
• Experience of or interest in the charity sector, in particular humanitarian response/international development.
• Experience of working with an external fulfilment agency to deliver excellent customer service in a similar environment.
• An understanding of how to keep customer data safe and handle sensitive information responsibly, in line with relevant regulations.

We offer:

• Salary: £31,537 pro rata (Actual £12,614.80)
• 14 hours per week (flexible, with some preference for Wednesdays)
• 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
