Role: Interim Director of Fundraising (Maternity Cover)

Hours: Full-time

Remuneration: Up to £80,000 GBP gross annual pro rata (dependent on experience). We are open to considering applications on a substantial part-time basis for the right candidate.

We are seeking an Interim Director of Fundraising (Maternity Cover) to lead our fundraising and communications function, accelerating voluntary income growth to support the organisation’s humanitarian impact.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will lead and deliver our fundraising and communications strategy to maximise emergency fundraising, build a community of advocates and repeat givers and build meaningful partnerships with philanthropists and foundations. Our small and talented Communications Team, focused on growing our audiences and awareness across media and digital channels, reports into this role.

  Working arrangements
  
  Please note this is a fixed term contract for 18 months.

The governance and policy manager is a senior strategic and operational role responsible for leading, coordinating, and strengthening all governance-related functions across World Physiotherapy. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role ensures the organisation consistently meets the highest standards of governance, compliance, transparency, and accountability, in line with its global mission and constitutional framework.

The postholder serves as a key advisor to the CEO, board, and leadership structures, ensuring governance systems are robust, efficient, and appropriate for an international membership organisation. The role works closely with member organisations (MOs), regions, and speciality groups to enhance governance practices, ensure policy alignment, and support coherent decision-making across the global network.

The role also contributes to organisational direction by actively participating in the development and implementation of the World Physiotherapy strategic plan and supporting alignment with regional and other strategic plans.

1. Governance leadership and oversight

• Lead, coordinate, and oversee all governance functions and activities across World Physiotherapy.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with the constitution, bylaws, policies, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Regularly review and update governance frameworks, systems, and processes to align with international best practices.
• Provide authoritative advice and interpretation on governance matters to the CEO, board, and leadership structures.
• Develop and implement governance improvement initiatives to enhance organisational effectiveness and accountability.
• Work collaboratively with the World Physiotherapy development and membership divisions to ensure organisational cohesion and effective delivery of the global mission.

2. Board and executive support

• Support and coordinate the development of high-quality board papers, briefings, and decision-support materials.

3. General meeting (GM) management

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver all World Physiotherapy global and regional general meetings in accordance with constitutional requirements.

8. Stakeholder engagement and communication

• Act as a central liaison on governance matters between the CEO, board, committees, and membership.

Person specification

Education and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in law, public administration, governance, business administration, international relations, or a related field.
• Postgraduate qualification (eg master’s degree) in governance, public policy, law, MBA, or related discipline (desirable).
• Professional certification in governance, compliance, or company secretariat (eg Chartered Governance Institute or equivalent) is an advantage.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the frontline of policy advocacy and development in child health. As Head of Policy and Research you'll be responsible for overseeing the development of our policy positions and all related outputs, as well as the research that underpins our campaigns and advocacy, across England, Scotland and abroad. You will be an integral thought partner to the Director of Strategy & Delivery and wider leadership team on the development of pioneering research concepts that will drive the child health agenda forward. You will be our internal technical expert on food policy, ensuring all of our work is evidence-based and impactful, as well as being our external representative, liaising with leading policy and research experts across academia, civil society, and government agencies. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research

• Work with the Director of Strategy & Delivery and Research Manager to plan research projects and support their delivery, ensuring they support policy calls and reflect young peoples’ experiences.

• Lead the translation of  Bite Back’s research into high quality outputs including reports, briefings and submissions.

• Work with campaigns, communications and content teams to turn research findings into high impact creative communications for a range of audiences.

• Serve as a primary spokesperson for our research including in media placements, speaking slots and government evidence sessions. 

Policy development

• Lead on the development of Bite Back’s policy positions in key and emerging areas, ensuring young peoples’ views and experiences are fed in at every stage.

• Lead the development of all policy outputs including submissions, consultation responses and briefings, ensuring they are evidence-based and reflect young peoples’ voices. 

• Lead the technical policy liaison with stakeholders and experts in the field to gather evidence and critically assess the Bite Back’s positions. 

Evidence

• Keep abreast of new evidence on key areas relating to nutrition, climate and health and consider the implications for Bite Back’s policy and relevant activity.

• Collaborate internally to provide knowledge and advice on policy and evidence issues with colleagues and the youth board.

• Review and sign off key outputs to ensure they reflect the latest evidence and data.

Stakeholder engagement

• Build and maintain relationships with a range of external stakeholders to support Bite Back’s influencing agenda, including with senior government policymakers, academia, WHO and other charities in England, Scotland, and abroad.

• Represent Bite Back on a range of alliances, coalitions and partnerships.

• Deputise for the Director of Strategy & Delivery when needed.

Leadership

• Line management of Research Manager and Impact & Evaluation manager, with a dotted line to the Policy & Engagement Executive and Senior Programmes & Policy Manager for Scotland.

THE ROLE  

Role Overview 

The Fundraising Executive (Supporter Care) plays a vital role in delivering an excellent supporter experience for our client Trinity. Often the first point of contact for supporters, the role is central to building trust, ensuring accuracy, and reinforcing positive relationships through timely, professional, and warm communication. 

Working as part of Compton Fundraising’s Supporter Care team, you will ensure that all donations are processed accurately, donors are thanked appropriately, and enquiries are handled efficiently across phone, email, and post. You will also support the wider fundraising team across multiple income streams, contributing at every stage of the fundraising cycle from planning and delivery through to income processing and stewardship.  

Key Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will be expected to: 

• Process income accurately and securely, including cash, cheques, credit/debit cards, CAF donations, and online donations via platforms such as GoCardless, JustGiving, Stripe and Enthuse. 
• Ensure donors are thanked promptly and appropriately, liaising with Fundraising Managers as required to deliver a high quality stewardship experience. 
• Carry out bank statement reconciliation, including the processing of standing orders, direct debits, online donations and legacies. 
• Act as a first point of contact for the Fundraising Team by:
  • Answering incoming telephone calls 
  • Responding to general email enquiries while maintaining Trinity’s clear tone of voice and communication style.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you’ll:

• Lead and develop our Volunteer Experience Team, who provide day-to-day phone and email support to our 6,000 volunteers, ensuring volunteers receive outstanding support from first enquiry to retirement
• Support our network of around 80 Volunteer Area Coordinators, helping them support local PAT volunteers 
• Deliver our Volunteer Engagement Strategy, making volunteering with PAT easy, rewarding and well‑supported

What you will be doing 

You will identify and secure corporate partnerships that are deeply aligned with our mission, developing propositions that are emotionally compelling and commercially credible. You will represent Wish confidently at senior level, create the systems and structures that enable sustainable growth, and lay the foundations for a partnerships team that grows with the income you generate. As income grows, so does the role. The expectation is that this person builds not just a partnerships portfolio but, in time, a team around it. 

You will work closely with the Head of Income Generation and Board, with realistic targets in the early stage that give you the time and space to build the right relationships rather than rush the wrong ones. This is not a role where you will be left to figure it out alone. It is one where your ideas are wanted, your judgement is trusted, and your ambition is actively supported. 

What you will bring 

Experience securing or significantly influencing high-value partnerships or commercial relationships at senior level, ideally on a multi-year basis. A genuine instinct for spotting opportunity and the drive to turn it into something real and comfort with ownership and the confidence to create momentum.

Relevant experience may come from the charity sector or from a commercial environment. Attitude and instinct matter more to us than a specific background.

BYO is the UK’s national training opera company, a place for young people who are in that awkward stage between education and proper working life where they can kick-start their careers. That’s what the ‘youth’ in our name refers to – not age, but the fact that our participants are all at the beginning of their lives in opera.

We’re looking for an experienced fundraiser to manage and grow BYO’s base of supporters. As head of individual giving you’ll be responsible for finding, cultivating, and upgrading donors through campaigns, events, stewardship and personal engagement. This is a permanent role, and while the post is envisaged as full time, we are open to part-time or flexible arrangements for the right candidate.

About the role

As a Senior Lead in Individual Giving & Supporter Experience, you’ll manage a high-performing team and oversee a varied programme of supporter communications and journeys. We are more ambitious than ever, and this role will have income responsibility of over £15m, so you will be working across complex and large-scale budgets and communication plans. Working across departments, you’ll embed a collaborative and insight-led approach to donor retention and supporter experience. 

You will lead the strategic planning and delivery of supporter development activity, from multi-channel appeals to tailored stewardship, and helping to grow income from regular giving and repeat giving audiences, as well as collaborating with Acquisition and Mid-Value and Legacy teams to grow a sustainable income pipeline. The warm Christmas appeal will be a key campaign moment in your year, and you’ll help ensure new supporters feel thanked, inspired, and motivated to stay with us for the long term. 

You’ll also help build the business case for future supporter Development investment and flex to support the wider Individual Giving and Supporter Experience team as priorities shift.

You have collective responsibility with your lead peers in the expansion of year-round campaigns, Regular Giving and Legacy expressions of interest. These are our team goals, in which we all play our part.

About you

• A commitment to ending homelessness and to Crisis’ values of being bold, impactful, collaborative and equitable
• Extensive experience in the strategic planning and delivery of large-scale, direct marketing programmes, ideally with a focus on retention and supporter development
• Knowledge of relationship marketing techniques and supporter engagement strategies, with an understanding of how to build long-term supporter value
• Experience leading, supporting and coaching a team through a busy period while maintaining performance, wellbeing and supporting development
• Strong analytical and data-interpretation skills
• A track record of delivery growth, strong ROI and optimising and improving development/loyalty/retention campaigns and programmes
• Strong understanding of CRM systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics or similar)
• Experience of managing external marketing and creative agencies, printers, and mailing house
• Experience managing significant budgets across income and expenditure

Executive and Leadership Support

· Proactively manage the CEDO’s diary, inbox, and scheduling, anticipating priorities and easing pressure on senior leadership time.

· Take ownership of key development communications and organisational materials, including contributions to the Annual Report, donor publications such as Rhodes Scholar Magazine, rotating website features related to donors, etc.

Governance, Meetings and Project Support

· Coordinate governance and committee processes end-to-end including agenda planning, paper preparation, accurate minute taking and tracking actions to completion.

· Support the planning and delivery of team meetings, retreats, and key events.

· Provide project coordination support for strategic initiatives led by the CEDO and the Engagement and Development team.

Other
