As External Affairs Specialist, you will play a central role in two of our most important priorities: strengthening our parliamentary engagement and delivering clear, timely and high-quality communication with our members. 

You will ensure members feel informed, heard and represented, while helping to build our presence and influence in Parliament. A core part of the role involves translating what our members experience on the ground into clear, persuasive messages that resonate with policymakers and parliamentarians.

What you will do 

Parliamentary engagement

We are seeking a knowledgeable and confident specialist income maximisation activities for a role with three key parts: to lead a small team delivering benefits and energy advice and support directly to clients; to play a key role in upskilling and supporting our outstanding Patient Support team across the country; and to be the subject matter expert within Kidney Care UK.

ROLE OVERVIEW 
We are seeking a self-motivated, personable, and enthusiastic individual to work as part of a team to support and grow our Branches and our lifesaving clubs as well as developing and grow recognition of and participation in Lifesaving Sport.

Pivotal to the role will be the collaboration with external agencies and branches and clubs in Wales and Ireland, to strengthen and publicise our water safety education throughout the region together with supporting the needs of clubs in the region. 

KEY TASKS, ROLES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• To build and maintain productive relationships with organisations involved in the field of water safety, particularly with Water Safety Wales, Water Safety Ireland and associated partners including attendance at relevant meetings in coordination with the RLSS UK team
• To actively recruit and increase the number of clubs affiliated to RLSS UK 
• To support our Branches and their work in the regions through ongoing communication, sharing RLSS UK updates and feeding back on Branch activities and requirements
• Understand the water safety and drowning prevention geographical landscape across Wales and Ireland and actively seek to enhance lifesaving provision in areas of low activity 
• In partnership with the Volunteering and Events Team and Sports Committee, continue to develop and grow participation in Lifesaving Sport

The Housing Needs Service involves working collaboratively with other internal services, including the Resettlement Team, the Employment Service, the Housing Solutions Service and Passage House Assessment Centre, to assess the housing needs of service users and identify appropriate accommodation options.

This service is key part of the No Night Out service (NNO), an innovative model that provides rapid intervention and support for individuals at imminent risk of rough sleeping for the first time. Service users are provided with emergency accommodation, assessed by the Housing Needs Service and supported to view and sign up for Private Rented Sector properties within a target timeframe of 14 days. The Housing Needs Service works closely with the Resettlement Team to achieve successful outcomes within this prevention service.

The Housing Rights Worker will provide high-quality housing advice, advocacy and casework support to individuals and communities experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity or other housing-related problems. You will empower clients by delivering practical solutions and helping them understand and exercise their statutory rights, while contributing to the organisation’s objectives of preventing homelessness and improving access to safe, secure housing.

The Housing Rights Worker is required to:

• Prevent homelessness wherever possible by supporting clients to understand and exercise their legal and statutory housing rights.
• Provide specialist housing advice, advocacy and casework support to individuals experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity or housing-related difficulties.
• Working collaboratively with the Intervention Worker’s caseload of clients, ensuring high-quality client-centred support.
• Represent and advocate on behalf of clients in dealings with landlords, local authorities and other statutory or voluntary agencies.
• Sourcing suitable accommodation options, including shared and private rented accommodation, particularly for single people under 35 affected by Shared Accommodation Rate restrictions.
• Empower individuals and communities by increasing awareness of housing rights, entitlements and available support services.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of housing advice services.

Main Duties

Housing Advice & Casework

• Provide advice on homelessness legislation, housing law, tenancy rights, housing debt and welfare benefits impacting housing affordability.
• Support under 35s to access sustainable housing solutions, addressing affordability barriers and landlord engagement.
• Assisting Housing Need workers with preparing clients for viewings, tenancy sign-ups and moving into accommodation.
• Identify and advocate on the client’s behalf to address concerns relating to property condition, safety and housing standards.
• Represent and advocate on behalf of clients in dealings with landlords
• Negotiate with landlords, housing providers and local authorities to prevent eviction or resolve disputes.

Partnership & Multi- Agency Working

• Build relationships with private landlords and letting agents to increase access to suitable shared housing and private rented accommodation for people under 35.
• Work creatively to overcome barriers faced by young single people in accessing accommodation
• Work proactively with landlords and letting agents to ensure they understand and adhere to their legal responsibilities, including tenancy management, notice procedures, and statutory obligations.
• Encourage early resolution of disputes between landlords and tenants to prevent escalation and homelessness

Community Engagement & Outreach

• Work collaboratively with community groups and partner organisations.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, housing associations, supported accommodation providers, and voluntary sector partners.
• Participate in multi-agency meetings and case conferences.
• Empower individuals and communities by increasing awareness of housing rights, entitlements and available support services.
• Deliver workshops, information sessions and outreach activities to raise awareness of housing rights and housing options.​

Service Development

• Provide feedback on emerging housing trends affecting under 35s and other client groups.
• Assist with reporting and meeting service targets.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of housing advice services.
• Develop accessible information resources tailored to young people
• Promote good practice within the private rented sector and encourage responsible landlord engagement.

About the role:

At our Harrow Road Assessment Hub in Westminster, you will work within this short stay service with a multi-disciplinary team setting. This role involves working alongside people to navigate complex situations with empathy, understanding, and consistency. You’ll be supporting clients who have experienced rough sleeping and may be facing multiple disadvantage, often alongside mental ill health and substance use, at a point where the right intervention can change everything.

As a Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker, you’ll go beyond traditional support. You’ll use psychologically informed approaches, with a strong focus on harm minimisation, dual diagnosis and recovery, to build trust, unlock engagement and help clients make sense of their experiences. You’ll deliver targeted interventions both one-to-one and through our in-house recovery programme, helping people move from crisis towards stability and longer-term accommodation.

You’ll work at the centre of a fast-paced, multi-agency system, building strong relationships with health, Adult Social Care and specialist services to make sure clients can access and sustain the support they need. Alongside this, you’ll bring specialist knowledge into the team, shaping best practice and strengthening how we respond to complex needs across the service.

This is a role for someone who is confident working with complexity, motivated by impact, and committed to ensuring people are not left stuck in cycles of homelessness, but supported to move forward and rebuild.

About you:

• You bring strong experience working with people experiencing multiple disadvantage, including mental health and substance use, and understand how these needs intersect.
• You’re confident using psychologically informed approaches, including harm minimisation and dual diagnosis, to engage people who may be ambivalent about support.
• You know how to build trust quickly, working in a non-judgemental, strengths-based way while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
• You’re skilled at navigating systems and advocating for clients, working effectively with external services to improve access and outcomes.
• You’re able to manage complexity, using your judgement to prioritise, problem-solve and respond calmly in challenging situations.

You will be delivering high-quality support and creating opportunities for children and young people living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and their families/carers. Supporting Shine members to lead healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives by improving condition management and fostering connections within the Shine community. 

This role will focus on children and young people (0–25), you will be primarily working within the Children, Young People and Families team. However, there will be occasions when you will work across age groups to ensure the best outcomes for our members. 

The role is home-based but you will be required to attend regular clinics in London including GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital). We are seeking a YP Counselling Service Coordinator to lead on the counselling partnership with P3. Key aspects include overseeing client intake, assessments and allocation. You will ensure a high-quality and consistent delivery across the YP counselling service in line with KPIs and outcome frameworks. Alongside client sessions, regular meetings with both Spectra and P3 staff, compiling reports and management of safeguarding concerns.

Increasing referrals and building strong relationships in these boroughs will be an integral focus, esepcially in complex cases where young people require referrals or are engaged with other services.
