Who We Are
Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.
Animal Equality releases investigative materials from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. We publish our findings on television, in newspapers and online. We routinely secure mainstream media coverage, including on the BBC, ITV, Sky News, The Times, The Guardian, The New York Times and many more.
Animal Equality also advocates for political change. Our current campaigns include a UK ban on foie gras imports, increased enforcement of existing animal protection laws, legal protections for farmed fish, and Government subsidies for transitioning towards a plant-based food system.
We focus on farmed animals because of the scale and severity of the issue. More than a billion animals are confined and killed for human consumption every year in the UK. Farmed animals also often suffer in some of the worst ways: pigs typically endure painful mutilations; many chickens die of heart attacks; fish are confined in underwater cages, and some farmed animals are victims of deliberate abuse and neglect. But the problem is solvable! By utilising effective campaigning strategies, Animal Equality is having an impact for animals around the world and building a future where all animals are respected and protected and are no longer exploited for human consumption.
Animal Equality UK’s current key campaigns include:
About the Role
Animal Equality’s campaigns have driven Parliamentary debates, legal victories, corporate commitments, and major media coverage and inspired thousands of people to change their diets and take action for farmed animals.
We are seeking a dynamic, disciplined, and highly motivated Campaigns Officer to play a central role in growing our activist movement and delivering bold, high-impact campaigns across the UK and internationally.
This role is fundamentally about building people power. You will be responsible for significantly expanding our activist base – both online and in person – mobilising supporters into sustained action and organising impactful demonstrations that influence companies, governments, and public opinion.
The Campaigns Officer will regularly travel across the UK and internationally to organise and lead peaceful demonstrations, ensuring Animal Equality remains a visible, strategic, and compelling presence at key decision-making moments. You will be expected to travel frequently across Europe, sometimes at short notice; reasonable travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the organisation, as well as a daily stipend for plant-based subsistence. While not common, occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support campaigning activities. Any additional hours worked and agreed with your Manager can be reclaimed as TOIL.
Working closely with colleagues across departments and countries, you will help transform public support into coordinated action that drives measurable change for farmed animals trapped in the animal agriculture system.
Location: Remote in the UK. Must be able to travel to London team meet-ups once a month (at your own cost) and travel frequently across Europe.
For further information and to apply, please visit our website via the Apply button.
Closing date: 5pm on Friday, 18th September 2026.
Animal Equality’s vision is a world in which all animals are respected and protected.

1) Strategic Projects & Organisational Initiatives
Be the operational driver of organisational initiatives, as agreed on by SLT, that have an impact on the success of upReach’s mission and our impact on Associates across the country.
Projects may be outward facing or operational in scope, depending on what is deemed to be of most importance at the time. They may also be at different stages in their life cycle, and as such, the role may require initial exploration phases, creation of implementation plans and the coordination of different teams to complete and assess success, as required by the specific initiative.
Attending meetings and following up with key stakeholders to ensure the completion of relevant projects to a high standard.
Collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to gather and report key information, along with recommendations, to the SLT or other senior managers.

Drive plans regarding how best upReach can expand its work in Scotland. Having recently successfully registered as a Scottish charity we are exploring what expansion could and should look like, and this role will work on the practicalities regarding how upReach can sustainably support more students in Scotland. Pending approval of plans from the SLT and Board, the role would lead on enacting the agreed upon approach.
Liaison with relevant departments to collaborate on prospect fundraising, university and employer partnerships, as well as student attraction and onboarding activities, will be required as part of this initiative.
4) Double Benefit Approach
Have oversight of a cohesive, deliberate programme of Double Benefit effective practice at upReach, working across teams to do so. This will include:

Coordinating with the Partnerships team regarding use of our Employer Engagement Toolkit and any bespoke consultancy or training requested.
This role will also provide line management for 1-2 members of our Future Charity Leaders Programme one day per week, as they work on a six month ‘rotation’ in the areas described above.
Please note that it is not possible for the job description to cover the exhaustive list of responsibilities of your role due to the varied nature of the role, especially given the nature of this role to work on a range of projects and initiatives. As such, the job description aims to provide an overview of your remit and core responsibilities.
