MEMBERSHIP MARKETING & INSIGHT MANAGER
18 hours per week (flexible working considered) Fixed-term contract - 6 months (with potential to extend)
£36,000-£40,000 FTE (£17,600-£19,600 pro rata)
Hybrid working - based at Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire
Use insight to shape the future of one of the UK's largest membership organisations.
Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum is an independent charity that inspires people to value and protect trees. With more than 39,000 members, we support the conservation, education and public enjoyment of Westonbirt, The National Arboretum.
We're looking for an experienced marketing professional who enjoys understanding people as much as promoting products. This is a new strategic role that will help us better understand our members, improve their experience and ensure our marketing activity is driven by evidence rather than assumption.
This isn't a traditional marketing communications role. You won't be expected to design leaflets, manage social media or build websites. Instead, you'll use customer insight, membership data and marketing expertise to identify opportunities, coordinate projects and help shape the future of our membership offer.
About the Role
This is a new strategic role designed to transform how Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum understands, engages and retains its members. We have an established membership of over 39,000 supporters with insight data surrounding this. We're looking for someone who can turn that insight into action— using evidence to improve the member experience, strengthen retention and shape marketing activity that delivers measurable impact.
This is not a traditional marketing communications role. You won't be expected to create artwork, build websites or write every communication. Instead, you'll lead the planning, insight and coordination that ensures the right activity happens at the right time through internal colleagues, Forestry England and external suppliers.
Summary of the role
Working closely with the Head of Income Generation & Engagement, you'll:
- Analyse membership and visitor data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Develop audience segmentation and retention strategies.
- Improve the end-to-end member journey, from joining through to renewal and long-term engagement.
- Coordinate key marketing projects, including digital developments, membership renewals and customer experience improvements.
- Oversee marketing planning, member communications and website content in partnership with colleagues and external suppliers.
- Produce clear insight and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
About you
You'll bring experience of using customer insight to improve marketing performance and customer experience.
You'll be confident:
- analysing CRM or membership data
- translating insight into practical action
- managing multiple projects and stakeholders
- coordinating agencies and external suppliers
- improving customer journeys and digital experiences
- communicating recommendations clearly and influencing others.
Experience within a membership organisation, charity or visitor attraction would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to shape a newly created role with genuine strategic influence. You'll help improve the experience of thousands of members while supporting the conservation and enjoyment of one of the world's finest tree collections.
We offer flexible and hybrid working, a supportive team environment and the opportunity to make a lasting impact within a respected conservation charity.

Join our successful Philanthropy fundraising team and make a real impact! We're seeking an exceptional Philanthropy Executive to join our established team. In this role you’ll engage small to medium sized trusts and major donors, connecting them to the difference they can make to thousands of men and their families facing prostate cancer.
Together with the Senior Philanthropy Executive, and Philanthropy Managers, you will liaise with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that you put together high-quality funding proposals, that will inspire supporters to make generous gifts, which will significantly improve the lives of men facing prostate cancer.
As a Philanthropy team, we work hard to support and motivate each other. We’re inclusive, enthusiastic, open, helpful and driven. We’re looking for someone who shares our passion to achieve success and work collaboratively.
What we want from you
We're looking for an effective and proactive communicator who can create engaging, compelling content that connects with a wide range of audiences. You'll be comfortable building positive relationships with colleagues, supporters and external partners, adapting your approach to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
You'll have strong organisational skills and experience managing competing priorities, enabling you to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines. We're particularly interested in someone who takes initiative and enjoys identifying new opportunities for growth and improvement. You'll be motivated by finding creative solutions, embracing change and contributing ideas that help us work more effectively and increase our impact.
Above all, you'll be an enthusiastic team player who enjoys working collaboratively, thrives in a dynamic environment and is excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our mission.
Why work with us?
Every man needs to know about the most common cancer in men – prostate cancer. It’s a real and present danger that takes over 12,000 of our dads, grandads, brothers and friends each year.
Prostate Cancer UK is the largest men’s health charity in the UK. We have a simple ambition – to stop prostate cancer damaging lives. We invest millions in research to revolutionise testing, treatment and care. We’re blazing a trail to a screening programme that could save thousands of lives with regular, accurate tests for all men at risk. And we work tirelessly to spread the word about risk and offer specialist support to people living with the disease.
Work with us and you’ll see your efforts pay off as we give men and their families the power to navigate prostate cancer.
Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
At Prostate Cancer UK we’re committed to righting health inequalities across the UK, starting with those faced by Black men. This includes ground-breaking research into Black men's risk and working with communities directly to overcome barriers to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. To make this happen, we're dedicated to being an inclusive, proactive organisation, as we strive to be Allies to Black communities. We’ll achieve this by advocating and working alongside those communities to promote change. We're also working to be Allies to each other, not only protected groups. In 2024, we launched our New Allyship Training Programme. All colleagues at Prostate Cancer UK will be trained to act and identify as an Ally.
We've also signed Business in the Communities Race at Work Charter, as a dedication to our Black health equity work and wider EDI priorities. As a signatory, we're responsible and accountable for driving positive change.
How and where we work
Colleagues attend the office at least four days per month (pro rata for part-time colleagues) to collaborate, build relationships, and support projects and decision-making. You can choose where to work the rest of the time. Travel to the office is a commute, so we pay our own travel costs.
Additional in-person attendance will be required during your first few months for induction and training, to support you to learn the role and get to know colleagues.
We trust colleagues to work flexibly while balancing personal commitments with the needs of the charity, and we are committed to making reasonable adjustments for colleagues with a disability, neurodiversity, or a long-term physical or mental health condition.
