Purpose of the role
To deliver the Day One Casework bedside model to patients, or those closest to them, impacted by serious or multiple injuries which could result in life changing consequences, such as disability or death, within Sheffield Northern General Hospital, providing support on some of the wards (such as rehabilitation), on-site clinics and other settings (e.g. rehabilitation centres).
Have a visible physical presence within the Trust, becoming embedded into clinical teams focussing on major trauma pathways, facilitating outpatient and in-person legal clinics.
To work closely with those impacted by serious and life-changing injury, taking referrals and carrying out initial assessments of need, expertly navigating, signposting and putting services in place in the immediate aftermath of major trauma, including talking about and facilitating timely access to legal support to aid rehabilitation.
To establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders to promote Day One and address the needs of those affected by serious and life-changing injury.
To work as part of the wider Day One Service’s team and organisation, taking responsibility for own record keeping and data collection in line with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilties
The post holder’s primary duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Work closely, and in partnership, with NHS clinical staff and relevant community and voluntary sector organisations, to address the needs of patients, and those closest to them, affected by serious and life-changing injury.

Operate a case management approach to individuals, assessing and identifying needs, putting support in place including signposting, making referrals and direct support.

Provide consistency in assessment of all patients and their loved ones, irrespective of injury cause, age, status, giving access to the earliest possible specialist legal advice which supports rehabilitation and NHS cost recovery.

Maintain detailed case records, including accurate records of activity and intervention, using Day One’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, capturing and storing data in line with Day One policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

Contributing towards report writing through the writing case studies and narrative to support data collection.

Implement processes and procedures to collect patient and family feedback and contribute to ongoing monitoring and evaluation of Day One services through providing relevant information, case studies and reports.

Deliver awareness raising presentations to clinical colleagues and departments.

Organise and facilitate outpatient and in person legal clinic drop-in sessions.

Build awareness of the role and charity’s purpose through building strong and effective relationships across the regional major trauma network, ensuring those who need it have access to Day One support.

Work closely with local authority, statutory and voluntary organisations to provide patient and family support and advocacy.

Help establish other support mechanisms once a person is no longer within the hospital setting, supporting the patient discharge process in conjunction with leadership from NHS staff.

Identify and support the recruitment and supervision of Day One volunteers, where appropriate.

Work closely in partnership with our Peer Support Service, focussed on promoting awareness and uptake within the region.

Work closely with the wider team on performance, quality, safety and effectiveness of all services, ensuring appropriate safeguarding policies are followed.

Work closely with our Fundraising and Communications team, supporting national activity, as well as regional initiatives to raise awareness and fundraise.

Be prepared to travel across the region and, on occasion, to other sites and national meetings as required.

Role description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Arts & Engagement Coordinator to support with the delivery of our Hospital Arts Programme. We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to work as part of the Arts Team.
This role will play a key part in delivering and developing Southampton Hospitals Charity’s arts programme across hospital sites. Acting as an ambassador for the Charity, you will represent the organisation, coordinate the day-to-day operation of the programme's activities, handle administrative tasks, and ensure smooth communication with staff, artists, and partner organisations. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential. in external arts projects, partnerships, and professional networks, while building and sustaining strong relationships with artists, cultural organisations, healthcare staff, patients, and visitors.
Main Responsibilities:
General:
- Maintain a regular on site presence across hospital locations to support programme delivery, coordination, and relationship building.
- Deliver one-to-one bedside art sessions for patients who are unable to attend group workshops.
- Proactively promote art programmes across hospital wards and units to increase awareness, engagement, and participation among patients, visitors, and staff.
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of all Charity led art workshops in collaboration with tutors and artists, including assisting with delivery and impact assessment.
- Assist with the day-to-day management of the art programme, ensuring schedules run smoothly and liaising in advance with Trust staff to prepare wards and patients for visits.
- Monitor, document, and report on the condition of artworks, murals, and installations across hospital sites, escalating issues where necessary.
- Support curatorial projects by coordinating the installation of new artworks, working with key stakeholders and hospital staff.
- Expand, maintain, and nurture a diverse and up-to-date network of artists to support programme delivery and future projects.

Person Specification:
- Knowledge and Experience:

About the role

Democracy Club brings a mailing list of 35,000, an active community of 1,200 volunteer contributors collaborating on election information, and strong digital and data expertise to the Network.
Our vision for the Network
Over the last year, we have carried out extensive consultation with members of the UK Democracy Network, the Network’s Steering Group and funders. Through this process, we have developed a new vision for the Network that is designed to reflect and support the diversity of the democracy sector, and the wide range of approaches, perspectives and organisations within it.
Our model is built around a series of smaller thematic, geographic and demographic-based “hubs” within the wider Network. These hubs will create spaces for organisations and individuals working on particular issues, in particular places, or with specific communities to collaborate more effectively, while remaining connected to the wider democracy ecosystem.
Alongside this, the Network will support stronger coordination and information sharing across the sector through activities such as a monthly bulletin, shared events, an annual conference and practical tools and databases that help partners collaborate more effectively.
Importantly, we want to build on and strengthen the excellent work that already exists across the democracy landscape, rather than duplicate it. Development opportunities:
As part of our learning and development Anne Harris skills development programme, we aim to provide a high level of training and development opportunities for all staff, so you are able to perform to the best of your ability, achieve individual and team objectives aligned to Rainbow Trusts strategic plan, supporting staff to be their best and feel a valued member of a high performing organisation.
Our Family Support Teams are given the opportunity to complete a number of diverse training courses in their first 12 months, including but not limited to: Mental Health First Aid, Makaton, counselling skills, introduction to play.
The programme aims to provide a building block for you to individually tailor your own learning and development needs.

For families living with childhood illness, time is everything. Right now, there are too many families coping alone with no support, no time to think, no time to make memories and no time for each other.
