We are recruiting a Complaints Officer to join our committed, friendly, and dynamic Complaints team.

Reporting to the Heads of Complaints and working closely with the Systems department, the purpose of the Complaints Officer position is to handle complaints made to IPSO in a personal, authoritative and efficient manner and to assist in the operation of IPSO’s pre-publication and privacy notice services.

About the role

This is a role for someone who is articulate and efficient, with excellent communication and analytical skills, and an interest in news and how it is regulated.

IPSO has a strong commitment to staff development, and the role benefits from a well-structured and stimulating programme of progression. Starting with drafting responses to complainants whose complaints are not being taken forward, the successful candidate will progress to investigating complaints, drafting rulings for external publication, and mediating between complainants and publications.

You will also be trained to staff, on a rota basis, IPSO’s pre-publication and privacy notice services, which provide 24-hour confidential advice to editors and journalists on matters relating to the Editors’ Code and protect members of the public and public figures from potential intrusion and unwanted press attention.

The key role responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and investigating complaints to IPSO to determine whether they fall within its remit and raise a potential breach of the Editors’ Code of Practice;
• Drafting recommendations for the consideration of the Complaints Committee;
• Providing efficient, compassionate and effective pre-publication and privacy notice services.

Skills and experience

Efficient, effective and empathetic, the right candidate will have a strong analytical ability that they can convey both verbally and in writing. You will have excellent writing skills, and experience of drafting important documents to a high level. You will also have experience of dealing sensitively and professionally with people from a range of backgrounds. Complaints Officers are trusted with a high level of autonomy in their work – so demonstrable time management and organisational skills are required.

A personal interest in current affairs and the news industry is a must, but there is no need for a degree or qualification in this area.

What we can offer you

There is a competitive starting salary of £41k, plus another £2k after 24 months of service. You’ll also receive an additional £1,145 on-call allowance after the relevant training has taken place, 25 days of paid annual leave plus a holiday buy and sell scheme, and excellent additional benefits including season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, private GP service, and (once probation is completed) free fitness membership.

The role is full-time, and IPSO offers hybrid working to all staff. All staff work two core days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in our Central London office. New staff may be asked to come in for more days while they familiarise themselves with the organisation.

Job Purpose 

The Development Manager will manage our fundraising and partnerships portfolio, supporting the stewardship of relationships with some of the world’s biggest environmental foundations and philanthropists. They will manage new and existing relationships, prepare grant applications and reporting, and evolve our outreach to support the growth and diversification of our fundraising opportunities. The role will work closely with the Executive Director, our UK team, and our US based global development department, to secure sustainable resources to strengthen Oceana UK and help drive positive impact for our seas.

Eligible candidates should have a passion for fundraising and a track record in securing major grants and donations, with a focus on trusts, foundations, and philanthropy. They will foster strong relationships with high-level partners, co-deliver excellent funding applications and reports, and provide written and verbal updates with precision and confidence. They will demonstrate a strategic mindset, alongside strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail. They must have experience in growing and diversifying income streams and converting new interest into long-term, sustainable, support.

The position will be hybrid, based three days per week (Tues-Thurs) from Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Regular national, and occasional international, travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations, including Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships and reporting to existing funders alongside the international development team and Executive Director. This will primarily be with trusts and foundations, individual philanthropists, and some corporate supporters.
• Manage successful grant applications and budgets, co-ordinating and collaborating with the international development team.
• Work closely with the finance, policy, communications, and campaigns team to ensure all relevant stakeholders are consulted in grant applications and reporting.
• Manage and deliver timely reporting, communications, and updates to funding partners and stakeholders.
• Manage and develop other existing UK income streams, including mass giving alongside the communications team.
• Identify, develop and manage additional UK income opportunities, including with smaller trusts and foundations.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance and People, and international development and budgeting teams, to manage income forecasts and grant financial reporting.
• Maintain appropriate development records and database for all UK activity.

Candidate Requirements

Education and work experience:

• At least 5 years of professional experience in fundraising and development, ideally in the ocean or the environmental space (essential).
• Experience writing successful multi-year grant applications, alongside robust budgets, for trusts and foundations (essential).
• Experience managing charitable foundation relationships, delivering detailed and timely reports, and managing ongoing communications as required (essential).
• Experience managing major and corporate giving.
• Experience prospe cting, managing and analysing research on fundraising opportunities.
• Experience co-developing and diversifying fundraising opportunities.
• Good existing relationships with environmental trusts and foundations (preferred).

Skills & Knowledge:

• Excellent external relationship building, including confident networking skills, and organised and positive relationships with funders outside of scheduled reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to understand and distill complex scientific issues and detailed campaigns for fundraising purposes.
• Strong focus on spotting and cultivating new institutional fundraising opportunities
• Strong internal stakeholder management, adept at involving relevant teams (leadership, campaigns, finance, international) to develop funding applications.
• Confident and proficient using CRM platforms or other grant management tools.
• Good understanding of data privacy, code of fundraising practice, and other relevant regulations.

Job Description

Delivering the Philanthropy plan

• Work with the Director of Fundraising to grow the major donor portfolio within the wider strategy 
• Build and maintain a portfolio of existing and new major donors who give or can give £20,000 or more, ensuring a first-class cultivation and stewardship journey
• Line manage the Philanthropy Executive and support their professional development, providing direction, support and guidance
• Work with our Fundraising Research & Administration Intern to identify new potential Bookmark major donors, working with Trustees, senior stakeholders, and our wonderfully supportive Partnerships Board to secure introductions and make asks of prospective supporters

Person Specification

Essential

• A successful track record in managing high-value relationships, including a proven track record of securing five-figure gifts

Victim Support is seeking a committed and detail-focused Team Leader to help coordinate and maintain excellent support for witnesses within the busy Court environment at Staines Magistrates Court. About the Role

As a Support Worker in a  Children’s Home, you will provide direct support and care for our young people, who have complex emotional and mental health difficulties (such as trauma and loss),and can struggle to regulate their emotions. Working within a therapeutic framework, you will develop a direct programme of work aimed at developing authentic relationships with our children and young people (aged between 12 and17 years old), you will also have responsibility for making sure our those in our care are safe, providing support, liaison with other external professionals and completion of support documents to record information.

What is the Worker-led Transition project?

The Worker-led Transition project is a collaboration between NEON and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) that aims to future-proof manufacturing jobs, accelerate climate action and push back against far-right politics in industrial communities.

The TUC estimates that the future of up to 800,000 jobs in the UK (in sectors like chemicals, automotive, steel, ceramics, their supply chains and more) depend on timely planning and investment in industry to meet the needs of a decarbonised economy. Our project supports workers in high-carbon manufacturing industries to plan for a sustainable future for their workplaces (e.g. making green steel or zero-emissions vehicles), builds alignment across the climate movement in support of a worker-led transition, and counters far-right politics in industrial communities by advancing a vision for a socially just climate transition that protects and creates well-paid, unionised jobs in the clean industries of the future. 

Purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to support NEON’s work to build organising capacity in UK social movements, with a focus on NEON’s Worker-led Transition project. You will:

• Build support for a worker-led transition in the climate movement and industrial communities, with an emphasis on local and regional coalition and capacity-building in key industrial regions, as well as strengthening relationships with the trade union movement and industrial workers.
• Provide responsive support to movement organisations when they need it most, offering strategic and organising support and advice.

Key Responsibilities

1. Play a key role in the delivery of NEON’s movement building and organising work for the Worker-led Transition project, by strengthening relationships between the climate movement and trade union movements, and training and supporting local groups and community members to organise and campaign in support of a worker-led transition and a sustainable future for communities in key industrial regions:
   • This will involve visits to industrial sites and communities across England and Wales
2. Co-design and deliver events and trainings, where climate activists and trade union organisers and members can build relationships, strategise and plan joint action to deliver a worker-led transition
3. Collaborate with TUC staff to ensure coordinated and effective action in support of a worker-led transition
4. Work with colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to develop strategy, and join up our organising work across programmes
5. Play an active part in the whole NEON team and the Movement Building Hub Team, contributing to organisation-wide plans, including providing facilitation support for other NEON programmes as and when requested.

Who you are

The Senior Manager, Policy & Campaigns will be central to this mission, leading the development of policy positions and research that strengthens Mission 44’s ability to influence decision-makers and shape public discourse.

Mission 44’s impact model brings together strategic investment (through grantmaking) and targeted influence to drive systemic change. The Senior Manager will work closely with grantmaking teams to ensure that insight from funded work is embedded in policy and research, while also feeding learning and evidence back into funding strategies to strengthen decision-making and maximise impact.

The role will lead and manage Mission 44’s policy and research agenda, acting as a key point of contact for partners and building trusted relationships across government, the education and youth sectors, and civil society. The role will lead the development of policy recommendations, commission and translate research into clear, actionable outputs, and collaborate with internal teams and partners to align policy priorities with wider organisational objectives and maximise influence.

LGBTQ+ Drug and Alcohol Recovery Worker (Fast Track Cities HIV Reengagement Project)

London Friend’s Antidote service provides high quality drug & alcohol psycho-social treatment and support to LGBTQ+ people utilising harm reduction & abstinence-based methods.  Antidote is a part of London Friend which aims to support and promote health & wellbeing for LGBTQ+ people living in the London area.

We deliver services across London, including in partnership with Local Authority-based drug and alcohol treatment services and sexual health clinics.

Recovery support workers provide support to LGBTQ+ people experiencing difficulties with drug or alcohol use, including supporting those engaged in chemsex, and incorporating HIV prevention initiatives and sexual health support. They will hold a caseload of clients and be responsible for their assessment, case planning, review, and ongoing care. They will provide outreach to LGBTQ+ people in community settings including local sexual health clinics.

This post is funded via the London Fast Track Cities Initiative which seeks to end HIV transmission. It is a part of two multi-area, multi-disciplinary projects aiming to reengage people living with HIV who have dropped out of treatment and care. The postholder will work with teams in North West and South London including NHS HIV clinics and a range of voluntary sector stakeholders. The postholder will proactively engage identified clients, mostly gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) where drug alcohol or chemsex have been barriers to sustaining HIV treatment and care.

The postholder will also assist with the delivery of Antidote’s services, including our walk-in clinics and group programmes.

The post-holder will take an active anti-discriminatory, anti-racism and trans-inclusive approach around all areas of work and will be an active member of the broader Antidote and London Friend teams and support with the aims & objectives of the whole service.

This is initially offered as a fixed-term contract to 31st March 2027, although it is anticipated that funding will be provided for two further years. Any extension will be subject to future funding being confirmed.

Due to the nature of the work and in order to provide appropriate access for the client group the role requires regular evening work and occasional weekend working and travel across Greater London.

Background: 

Amna envisions a world where refugees have the power to shape their own futures, unbounded by the impact of trauma, conflict and displacement. We are a refugee-led organisation working to expand mental health support and community-led psychosocial services for communities affected by conflict and displacement, giving them the tools to heal, rebuild resilience, and rediscover joy and belonging.    

Our approach is simple and evidence-based, developed in partnership with refugees and psychosocial experts. We work globally to fund, train, and empower frontline organisations and humanitarian workers to deliver trauma and identity-informed care to those affected by displacement. By fostering safe spaces for healing and offering creative and cultural tools and practices, we aim to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma and create lasting change.    

Since 2016, Amna has directly supported over 76,000 individuals, including children, youth, and adults trained over 3,600 facilitators from 720 organisations across 23 countries to deliver trauma- and identity-informed care. Our programs have indirectly impacted the lives of over 2 million displaced people, helping them find strength and hope in the face of adversity.

Safeguarding: 

The role-holder will have experience working according to ethical and good practice safeguarding principles. They will be expected to adhere to and promote Amna’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding Policies as they will be involved and responsible for programmes working with children and vulnerable groups in different settings. 

Role purpose: 

The Programmes Officer is integral to advancing Amna’s mission by actively contributing to the planning, implementation and oversight of the organisation’s programmes and partnerships. The Programmes Officer will collaborate closely with the programmes team, playing a key role in coordinating activities, engaging with partner organisation's and different stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives. • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management, partnerships, or related roles, preferably within the charity sector. 

• Excellent IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with document management systems (e.g. SharePoint). 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally across a range of stakeholders. 

• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in a structured manner. 

• High level of attention to detail, with a methodical and accurate approach to work. 

• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Work Location and Environment 

This role is a fixed-term, part-time job opportunity, and open to applicants in the UK and MENA region.
