Brightside is on a mission to help young people make confident and informed decisions about their future. For over 20 years, we’ve used technology to connect young people facing barriers with inspiring mentors. We deliver online mentoring programmes in collaboration with schools, universities, businesses and charities to provide young people with access to networks, online career information and high-quality mentoring.

At Brightside, we are determined to change the system from the ground up, providing young people and schools with role models, support networks and skills to empower them to meet their aspirations.
We are a small but mighty charity, currently reaching 6,500 young people across the UK a year, but with innovative plans to meet the need of thousands more. To do this we are looking to build on our dynamic board of trustees and have a new position available. Right now, we are looking for a Trustee to join the Board who has deep expertise with marketing and communications. At Brightside we work on marketing to attract young people to become mentees, volunteers to become mentors and partners to fund our services – ranging from commercial organisations to grant funders to schools and universities.
The board of trustees supports the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic direction, guidance and practical advice.
The trustee will play a vital role in giving our staff guidance on building a strong brand for the charity with our limited means and to attract more mentees, mentors and funders. We want to radically improve our marketing to young people and get consistency in our messaging across all channels and platforms. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with brand and performance marketing, particularly in channels we use extensively at Brightside including email, social, brochure / leaflet (e.g. impact reports, funder info collateral) etc. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in youth marketing, social mobility and securing funding for charitable organisations. Having said that, if you do not have all this direct experience do not hesitate to apply if you have strong marketing and comms skills and a strong passion for our mission.

MumsAid’s Young Mums service supports expectant and new mothers aged up to the age of 25, offering emotional support, peer connection, advocacy, within a group setting. The group offers a safe, welcoming environment where young mums can share, connect, and learn.
To assist in the organisation and the smooth running of Young MumsAid group sessions. Offering friendly emotional support and guidance to help new mums connect and thrive in their community, ensuring group participants feel safe and welcomed.
What will you be doing?
Assist the group facilitator with planning, organising, and facilitating regular support group meetings for new mothers, ensuring that the meeting space is clean, safe and warm.
Greet attendees as they arrive; help new members settle in, show them around, introduce them to others.
Be attentive to group dynamics; encourage inclusion and gently facilitate interaction when helpful (for example, helping quieter mums to join in).
Provide emotional support and guidance to mothers within the group, ensuring a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
Provide tailored one-to-one support to mothers within the group who need additional help, referring to other specialists when necessary.
Assist with administrative tasks related to the group, including attendance records, scheduling, and communication with participants.
Implement and deliver engaging and relevant content for group sessions including activities, and discussion topics as advised by the facilitator.
Participate in debrief or feedback with the facilitator after the group, sharing any insights or concerns.
Observe and flag any safeguarding, mental health, or welfare concerns in line with MumsAid Safeguarding and child protection policies (in debrief with facilitator) immediately following the session.
With guidance from the facilitator carry out monitoring requirements.
Support in liaising with other professionals to increase awareness about the group and to assist in recruitment of suitable group members.
Respond to any feedback of the group, adapting sessions as necessary as directed by the group facilitator.
Distribute educational materials and resources relevant to new motherhood as necessary.
Promote and support equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that the views and voices of MumsAid’s service users are considered in all aspects of group initiatives, including in the discussions of need and impact.
Maintain confidentiality and privacy of group members.
Attend induction and role-specific training and take part in supervision or feedback sessions.

Travel Hands is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with expertise in Public Relations to help shape and implement a targeted PR strategy that raises awareness of their work. The ideal volunteer will have experience developing media strategies, crafting press materials, and engaging journalists to build consistent and positive media presence.
Project Brief:
Travel Hands has built strong community trust and meaningful partnerships but now needs dedicated PR expertise to amplify its story and impact through the media. The organisation connects visually impaired people (VIPs) with trained Guides for safe and enjoyable walks across London — a service already featured by Forbes, ESA Business Applications, and Ability Today. Despite completing over 1,300 successful journeys and seeing growing demand from VIPs, traditional volunteer recruitment methods have not proven effective, leading to a shortage of Guides. A structured PR strategy is essential to increase public awareness and help meet their need for volunteers.

STAMMA is the leading charity for people who stammer in the UK. We’re a small, award-winning organisation with big ambitions and a brilliant community, keen to create space and respect for people who stammer.
Stammering has historically been the target for humour and used to suggest inadequacy, leaving many who stammer facing daily ignorance, discrimination and disrespect. This can affect job prospects and mental health, and cause depression and social isolation. It can make booking a GP appointment a nightmare, and prevent people from accessing a service altogether, leaving them feeling humiliated, degraded or disbelieved. We’re here to change that.
We’ve a clear strategy for the next five years to achieve real and practical change for people who stammer by highlighting the inadvertent barriers they face within the workplace and as service users. We want to reach more people who stammer and grow our supporter base, but to do that we need to expand our training and advocacy services, whilst underpinning our helpline and family support.
We want to appoint a new Trustee with significant skills and experience within the charity sector to the Board. You’ll need to share our excitement and ambition for change. It isn’t essential that you stammer. This is an unpaid position, but travel expenses can be covered. Trustee terms are for four years, and you will be expected to attend all Board meetings, up to five times a year, usually on a Saturday, either in-person at different locations across England, or online. There are also sub-committees and informal planning and preparatory discussions, usually held online.

Position

·Comfortable acting as a trusted adviser rather than providing operational legal services.

·Provide high level input on contracts, policy and governance frameworks.

Trustee 3: Public Affairs Communications
·Professional experience in communications, marketing, media or stakeholder engagement in a charitable, corporate or commercial environment.
·Proven track record in delivering an understanding of reputation, compelling storytelling and audience engagement which support ambitious fundraising targets at a strategic level.
·Proven track record in developing and delivering a successful communications strategy that supports engagement and fundraising objectives.
·Enthusiasm for championing the charity’s mission and impact.
·Skill in crafting effective and impactful narratives.
Key responsibilities
In addition to general trustee duties, this role will:
·Advise on communications and engagement strategy at a board level.
·Support the enhancement/further development of the charity’s reputation, messaging and public profile.

Trustees do not have operational responsibilities but are there to provide collective oversight. All trustees share collective responsibility for the governance, strategy and success of the charity.
