Job description

Are you a natural at developing relationships and a skilled communicator? Do you want to help us develop relationships with our key supporters?

We have an exciting opportunity for an External Affairs Manager to join our team at our Rehoming Centre in Harefield to lead and nurture high value relationships on behalf of the centre.

Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK with a nationwide network of rehoming centres and charity shops. Last year, Dogs Trust centres cared for over 15,000 dogs; we never put a healthy dog down.

To deliver on our mission we need to ensure we are properly funded and resourced. The External Affairs Manager will become an expert on all our campaigns and initiatives as well as our operational aspects and will be capable of showing how our high value supporters’ donations are making a difference every day. You will also become knowledgeable about all the dogs at the centre; their needs, history and welfare to be able to create a unique and authentic experience for all donors.

To achieve that you will work closely with centre management team as well as Philanthropy and Corporate Partnership teams to deliver an annual programme of private tours, events, meetings and individual volunteering opportunities at the centre with a goal of converting these to major gifts and corporate partnerships in the long term.  You will also play a role in the daily running of the centre as a member of the management team.

With a passion for dogs and their welfare and a proven team player with management experience, you will be a strong communicator and  be comfortable interacting with different audiences, particularly major donors, VIPs, media, internal stakeholders and others. A manual driving license is also essential.
