JOB TITLE: Charity Worker Volunteer.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Uganda Croydon Catholic Community (UCCC), based in Croydon, Surrey, United Kingdom, is seeking to recruit dedicated and enthusiastic Charity Workers to support the ministry and activities of the Church.

The successful candidates will have a passion for serving people of all ages and helping individuals and families integrate into the life of the Church. UCCC serves a diverse, multi-ethnic congregation, with a particular focus on members of the Ugandan community living in the United Kingdom.

This is a voluntary Charity Worker position. The Church will cover all reasonable expenses related to the role. The position requires a commitment of 30 hours per week, including weekend work.

PRIMARY ROLE

To work alongside the Lead Minister in supporting the Church's mission and vision by engaging with young people, families, and the wider congregation, helping to strengthen community participation and inclusion.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting with ushering duties during worship services and Church meetings.
• Helping to prepare Church premises before worship services and other Church activities.
• Assisting with setting up equipment, seating arrangements, and other practical requirements for Church events.
• Supporting the smooth running of Church services and community activities.
• Assisting with clearing and tidying Church premises following worship services and meetings.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to communicate in a Ugandan language is highly desirable, as the majority of the community served by UCCC is of Ugandan heritage.
• A genuine interest in community and faith-based service.

The Casework department is the core of our organisation. The department helps clients across four key themes: Housing and Homelessness, Discrimination, Gender Recognition, Gender-Based Violence 

As a caseworker, you will work directly with clients by offering them support and advocacy.With support from our lead caseworkers, you will help progress cases by providing legal guidance, signposting clients to resources, writing letters, and other administrative support. It is a dynamic environment with truly rewarding work. Full training will be provided. 

About you 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with good communication and organisation skills to support the transgender community. Volunteering and administrative experience is beneficial but not essential. We are particularly interested in applications from people interested or studying law.

Overall Purpose: To support the smooth running of day care sessions by helping create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all.

The Charity Outreach Worker will deliver structured youth development sessions as part of the Pathways to Purpose programme, supporting young people aged 16–25 to develop employability skills, improve confidence, and transition into employment or further education.

The role focuses on direct programme delivery, participant engagement, and mentoring, ensuring beneficiaries receive practical, skills-based support aligned with the charity’s educational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Programme Delivery
– Deliver weekly structured sessions focused on employability skills, including communication, confidence building, and career readiness

Participant Engagement & Support
