Age UK Buckinghamshire is a local, independent charity and part of the wider Age UK Network. We support older people across the county through vital services including befriending, information and advice, dementia support, practical help at home, and welfare benefits support - helping people stay independent, connected, and supported.

Our work is more important now than ever. Many older people face growing challenges such as the rising cost of living, social isolation, and difficulty accessing support.

As demand for our services continues to increase, community support is essential to help us reach more people in need. About the Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and confident Charity Ambassadors who are passionate about giving back to their community and making a difference, to help raise awareness of our work. This is a rewarding and flexible role, ideal for individuals who enjoy meeting new people and speaking in public.

As a Charity Ambassador, you will represent Age UK Buckinghamshire at a range of events and settings such as community groups, Rotary Clubs, Church groups, and other local events and venues. You will help raise awareness of the support available to older people, providing information about our services and how people can access advice, practical help, and companionship when they need it.

You will also share the impact of our work by bringing it to life through real examples and stories, helping others understand the real difference this support makes to older people’s lives. By demonstrating this impact, you will highlight why support through fundraising, volunteering, and partnership opportunities is so important in helping us reach more people in need.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging presentations and talks about Age UK Buckinghamshire’s work
• Represent the charity at community events, meetings, and local groups
• Help raise awareness of services available to older people
• Promoting planned fundraising initiatives and activities.
• Thank and recognise supporters and fundraisers within the community
• Assist in reviewing, adapting, and improving presentation materials (e.g. PowerPoint slides)

Time commitment

This is a flexible role to suit your availability. Charity Ambassadors will be contacted as appropriate and offered the opportunity to attend events to which we are invited. Talks and events may be delivered alongside another volunteer or staff member, or occasionally independently.

Training & Support

All Charity Ambassadors will receive training, resources, and guidance to help them feel confident in delivering presentations and representing the charity. This will include opportunities to shadow our services and gain a deeper understanding of the support we provide to older people.

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language
• Be inclusive and welcoming to people of all religious faiths and none, referring people to other faith communities as appropriate
• Working alongside support staff, volunteers & local agencies
• Maintaining records of support and feeding back concerns about Resident welfare to Staff/Line Manager.
• Attend regular volunteer team meetings
• Being proactive in seeking spiritual and emotional support for your own benefit as this is a challenging role.

Additional activities could include:

• Facilitating group work for example: Retreat Programme, Bible Study, prayer or Mental Health Support.
• Welcoming new Residents by phone or in person

Food Service Volunteers

Enthusiastic, hands-on volunteers needed to help provide food to the community. A key role, you will work at the main hub of the food bank and help the food service run as smoothly as possible. An exciting opportunity to make a real, immediate impact to those in need of support. 

Hours: Thursdays, a range of shifts from 9:30am - 6pm

Book shifts to suit your own schedule! No requirement to sign up for the same shift each Thursday or to volunteer consecutive weeks.

About Bounds Green Food Bank: 

Open since June 2020, we serve over 1,500 children and adults in the community. We are committed to improving lives by providing food and essential household items to build a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow. We strive to promote social inclusion by supporting people who find themselves in a crisis situation where they need assistance to feed themselves and their families.

Person specification: 

• Aged 18 or above

• Have a basic understanding of spoken English

• Available on Thursdays 

• Able to travel at your own expense (no parking is available)

• Patient and flexible - you will help on different sections on each shift and may need to switch during shifts too

• A team player - the food bank is run completely by volunteers, so we require enthusiasm and cooperation

• Willing to attend training - The Orientation Tour is required before you join us, but other training may be offered.

• Understands and is sensitive to the challenges and difficulties faced by guests accessing the food bank e.g. food and fuel poverty, feelings of shame and embarrassment, language barriers.

The role: 

• Take in deliveries and count stock at the start and end of the day (depending on your shift time)

• Help with setting up the food service, including getting food out of storage and onto the service tables, decanting and repacking items and replenishing goods when needed. 

• Warmly welcome guests, serving them the number of items advised by Section Leads and Food Service Coordinators during each shift. 

• Follow food bank policies including Health and Safety procedures e.g. wearing gloves when handling fresh food and lifting boxes safely. 

• Keep the hall safe throughout the food service e.g. tidying away boxes and keeping walkways clear.

Description

Our small charity delivers awareness campaigns and a range of support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a debilitating chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team.

You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.

Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and having regular contact through emails and newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.

We would like the volunteer to help with:

• Email content: Develop our communication & marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
• Email content (membership): Create a regular email newsletter for our membership scheme
• Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
• Newsletter strategy: Help us plan and articulate how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our organisation, motivate our supporters and communicate with our sponsors;
• Design and implement campaigns and promotional activity

Mencap’s goal is to make the UK the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to lead happy and healthy lives. To help us with this, we are currently looking for a volunteer to help support a person with a learning disability to travel to meetings or events.

The Travel Buddy Volunteer will support a Voices Council member who is a person with a learning disability (and possibly other disabilities) to attend a Voices Council meeting 4 times a year to travel from Wales to London and one regional meeting a year that is not in London. If you can even commit to one meeting a year, we would love to hear from you

By supporting someone with a learning disability to travel to their destination on public transport you will be making a huge difference and enabling them to attend meetings and events.

On these journeys you can also help give them the confidence and skills they need to eventually feel comfortable travelling independently.​

This role is ad hoc, and is only required when requested, but we will give as much advanced notice as possible to ensure you can be available when you are required. ​

We will cover your travel expenses to and from the volunteering destination, as well as the journey you will be supporting the person to take.​

Peer Support Groups at Mind in Camden: We offer free peer support groups open to any adult 18+.  Each group focuses on different experiences, such as anxiety/mood, hearing voices, and LGBTQ+.  These groups are a space for people to come together and share their experiences, challenges, coping strategies, and build connections with like-minded people. 

All volunteers who apply must be willing to:

• Undergo a DBS check
• Attend a mandatory two day in person training on Monday 21st and Wednesday 23rd September 2026 at Mind in Camden
• Attend an interview (time TBD)

Purpose of the Role

This volunteer role supports the delivery of a wellbeing project for male asylum seekers accommodated in hotels in Ealing. The service aims to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and provide culturally sensitive mental health support for individuals who may be experiencing stress, trauma, and uncertainty due to displacement.

Volunteers will support the delivery of group activities and informal support sessions that promote social connection, emotional wellbeing, and engagement with services. The role involves building rapport with residents, supporting activities, and helping individuals access support where needed.

Volunteers will work alongside the Mental Health (Asylum Seekers) Coordinator to create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where residents feel comfortable participating in activities and seeking support.

Main Responsibilities

To support the Mental Health (Asylum Seekers) Coordinator in engaging residents and facilitating group activities that promote wellbeing, social connection, and access to support services.

Responsibilities include:

• Engage with asylum seeker residents in a friendly, respectful, and culturally sensitive manner
• Introduce residents to the wellbeing service and encourage participation in activities
• Help build rapport and trust with residents through informal conversation and engagement
• Support the onboarding of participants by assisting with forms and explaining the service
• Assist with facilitating group activities such as board games, expressive and creative activities.

Make a meaningful difference by becoming a friendly visitor for a gentleman in his early 70s who, while non-verbal, is active, engaged, and enjoys simple pleasures. He loves doing jigsaws, reading gardening magazines, and watching television. This is a “stop and stay” role where you’ll spend relaxed, quality time together helping with a jigsaw, sharing quiet moments, and offering companionship.

This is a Stop and Stay visit role, meaning that the person you’ll be visiting might have some verbal communication skills or they use sounds and/or facial/body expressions to communicate with you.fr

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.

Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tend to be around half an hour to an hour long.

In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like:

• Sitting and having a chat
• Checking in on their well- being
• A craft activity at home
• Reading a book/magazine together

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Using the voluntary working practices, policies, procedures and values set by Alex TLC, work with paid staff to ensure the charity shop business is run accordingly.

Work to the high standards expected at all Alex TLC shop premises according to the requests of the Shop Manager.

Work as a team member, taking full responsibility for all shop duties undertaken.

Participate in all training and legislative checks required by Alex TLC, statutory and specific to role.

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES (INTERNAL & EXTERNAL)

Maintain excellent levels of customer service (remembering customer service extends to colleagues and service providers, as well as customers), going above and beyond where possible.

Expert knowledge of the safe and correct use of all equipment used in the day to day running of the charity shop, for example the till, steamer, pricing equipment. Training is provided.

Summary

Signpost offers one-to-one counselling, coaching, outreach, creative therapies, group therapy, and parent support for children and young people aged 5-25.

Detailed description

We are seeking qualified and compassionate children’s counsellors with specialisms in play therapy, art therapy, or drama therapy to volunteer their time and skills to support children navigating emotional, behavioural, or developmental challenges. As a Volunteer Therapist, you will provide a safe, creative, and therapeutic environment where children can express themselves and begin to heal.

·Provide 1:1 or small group therapeutic sessions using your specialised modality (play, art, or drama).

·Build trusting relationships with children to support emotional expression and psychological wellbeing.

·Collaborate with staff and carers to ensure continuity and appropriateness of support.

·Maintain clear and confidential records of sessions and observations.

·Participate in supervision (where applicable) and team meetings.

·Support safeguarding and child protection practices in line with organisational policies.

Skills / Abilities / Experience / Qualities

·A recognised qualification in Play Therapy, Art Therapy, or Drama Therapy (BACP registration required)

·Experience working therapeutically with children and young people.

·A trauma-informed, child-centred approach to counselling and therapy.

·Excellent communication, empathy, and listening skills.

· A commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and safeguarding.

·Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS prior to starting).

 Training / Support

·A full induction to Signpost will be provided

·Requirement to complete mandatory online training

·A menu of optional training will also be made available

·Ongoing support and regular 1:1/supervision sessions

·Reimbursement of travel expenses (if applicable).
