Are you a qualified Yoga Instructor who would enjoy facilitating weekly sessions to help individuals with their general well-being. This is an opportunity for you to share techniques with others. We are looking for a volunteer who is available on Thursdays at 12pm!

What you will be doing

• Design session plans enabling all group members to increase fitness, suppleness and help them relax
• Teach the group yoga postures and breathing techniques which allow a range of mixed ages and abilities to participate
• Inspire and motivate people to attend and get involved in the group activities where possible and encourage the group to help design future sessions
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback and report any concerns to the staff team

We are recruiting for volunteers to visit pharmacies to ascertain whether they have a consultation room to deliver the Safe Spaces Scheme.

Hestia and UK SAYS NO MORE operate over 4,500 Safe Spaces in pharmacies and banks across the UK, for anyone experiencing domestic abuse. Anyone can be affected by domestic abuse, regardless of gender, age, race or identity. Domestic abuse is not always physical violence, and it can take many forms including emotional, sexual abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour. One in three women and one in seven men are affected by domestic abuse.

What you will be doing

• To visit Pharmacies and Banks/Building societies to check whether they have a consultation room to deliver the Safe Spaces Scheme

Detailed description

Having access to a secure garden or outdoor area can be crucial for providing opportunities to socialise and relax, which can be invaluable for the mental well-being of our residents.

The gardening and growing volunteer will support our accommodation sites in maintaining their outdoor spaces, including:

·Weeding

·Sweeping

·Pruning

·Clearing leaves and large twigs

·Watering plants

·Planting bulbs and tidying up flower beds

We would love for this to be an opportunity to involve our residents and potentially lead a gardening activity with them, equipping them with knowledge and skills to maintain their own green spaces in the future. 

You will need:

• Enjoy working outside in all weathers.
• An interest/basic knowledge of gardening
• Role requires some degree of physical work and lifting/manual handling
• To work under your own initiative.
• Good communication skills
• Opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills

A full induction to the service and specific site will be provided as well as access to training and events throughout the year!

Some sites have basic tools however any additional tools and material required can be discussed with your volunteer manager .

The BECC Family Centre, Borehamwood

Main responsibilities

·Welcome families, visitors, and professionals to the Family Centre in a friendly and professional manner.

·Answer telephone calls and take messages accurately.

·Assist staff with administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and preparing resources.

·Input data into systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

·Help maintain an organised and tidy reception and office space.

·Support the preparation of publicity materials, newsletters, and information displays.

·Signpost visitors to the appropriate staff member for further support.

·Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety policies at all times.

Skills / Abilities / Experience / Qualities

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language
• Be inclusive and welcoming to people of all religious faiths and none, referring people to other faith communities as appropriate
• Working alongside support staff, volunteers & local agencies
• Maintaining records of support and feeding back concerns about Resident welfare to Staff/Line Manager.
• Attend regular volunteer team meetings
• Being proactive in seeking spiritual and emotional support for your own benefit as this is a challenging role.

Additional activities could include:

• Facilitating group work for example: Retreat Programme, Bible Study, prayer or Mental Health Support.
• Welcoming new Residents by phone or in person
• Leading or helping with Chaplaincy lead events: Easter/Christmas activities, Remembrance Services
• Being an ambassador for YMCA’s mission in local Churches

As a Volunteer Guide at Lifeskills, you’ll take Year 6 primary school children on an unforgettable, hands-on safety adventure! You’ll lead small groups through immersive, life-like safety scenarios—from crossing a road safely to navigating a kitchen, visiting a shop, or exploring a railway line—encouraging children to spot hazards and think about staying safe in everyday life.

With the help of scripts, props, lighting, and sound effects, you’ll bring each scene to life, spark engaging discussions, and guide children as they practise making 999 emergency calls in a safe, supportive environment. Every session you deliver empowers children with the confidence and skills to make safer choices, helping them grow into independent, healthy, and aware young people.

We provide full, personalised training at your own pace, and you’ll always be supported by a friendly, experienced team. Volunteering sessions last 2 hours, and you can choose the times that suit you—Monday to Friday during term time.

Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) are at the heart of the cadet experience. As a CFAV, you will guide and support young people, lead or assist in training sessions, and help create a safe, supportive and rewarding environment. You can volunteer as a uniformed or non-uniformed instructor - no military experience is required, all training will be provided.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support, mentor and encourage cadets, helping them build confidence and life skills
• Assist with planning and delivering training sessions, including subjects such as; first aid, map reading and navigation, fieldcraft, drill and turnout, expedition and adventure training, leadership tasks and teamwork
• Participate in community events, remembrance parades, competitions and weekend activities and residential camps.
• Help with cadet development, assessments and progression as set out in the Army Cadet Syllabus.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to deliver a varied and engaging programme

Skills & Experience (Not Essential):

• Experience of working with young people (youth work, teaching, coaching or similar)

About the Army Cadets

The Army Cadet Force is a national, community-based youth organisation that provides young people aged 12–18 with opportunities to challenge themselves, learn new skills and grow in confidence. Through a variety of activities, both military-themed and non-military-themed adventurous activities, teamwork, leadership training and community engagement, cadets develop resilience and skills that last a lifetime. As branch chair you and your branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

· Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising activities so that potential beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters are aware of SSAFA as first in mind for support.

· Building relationships with the regional and national SSAFA team, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA serving community teams, local military establishments, etc.
