HELLO SUNSHINE!!!
SUNSHINE exists because loneliness is not just an issue — it is a crisis that is quietly affecting thousands of people across London. Too many people are living without meaningful human connection, and the impact can be devastating.
SUNSHINE was founded to change that by creating warmth, belonging, friendship and hope for those who need it most.
Inspired by real lived experience, SUNSHINE is a charity built on compassion, community and action. We want to build something truly transformational: a charity that helps people feel seen, valued and connected, while creating lasting change across London and, in time, across England and Wales.
We are now looking for a small team of committed volunteers to support our Founder in helping to manage SUNSHINE Charity and play a key role in shaping its future success.
Our Volunteer Opportunity
This is a powerful opportunity to be part of something meaningful from the very beginning.
We are seeking Charity Management Volunteers who can bring energy, initiative, organisation and a genuine belief in SUNSHINE’s mission.
You will work closely with the Founder to help guide the charity’s development, strengthen its operations, and support the delivery of our vision, mission and objectives.
This is not simply an admin role — it is an opportunity to be a key figurehead within SUNSHINE, helping to build a strong, credible, values-led charity that can achieve huge success and make a real difference to people’s lives.
What you’ll help with
You may support SUNSHINE with:
Helping to shape the charity’s direction, priorities and day-to-day management.
Supporting the Founder with planning, organisation and decision-making.
Helping to coordinate volunteers, projects and communications.
Contributing ideas to strengthen SUNSHINE’s growth, impact and visibility.
Supporting the development of systems, processes and governance.
Acting as a positive ambassador for the charity and its mission.
Helping to build a strong, motivated and united team around SUNSHINE’s goals.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for people who are:
Passionate about SUNSHINE’s mission and the importance of tackling loneliness.
Calm, reliable, proactive and able to work well with others.
Organised, thoughtful and able to help bring structure and momentum.
Comfortable contributing ideas, taking responsibility and helping solve problems.
Able to support the Founder while also bringing their own leadership, initiative and judgement.
Committed to making a positive difference through compassionate, purposeful charity leadership.
Why this matters
SUNSHINE is more than a charity — it is a movement for connection, dignity and hope.
By joining us at this early stage, you will help build the foundations of a charity that can change lives, strengthen communities and bring people back into connection with one another.
Your support will help SUNSHINE grow into a trusted, inspiring and impactful organisation that can make a lasting difference across London and beyond.
When applying, please tell us:
What your management style is like.
How you could help SUNSHINE Charity.
What experience, qualities or strengths you would bring to the role.
Why SUNSHINE’s mission matters to you.
What you’ll gain
The chance to help lead and shape an ambitious, values-led charity.
Experience working closely with a Founder to build a growing organisation.
The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a cause with real human impact.
Flexible volunteering that can fit around your existing commitments.
The reward of helping to create something that could transform lives.

We are looking to recruit people for our Youth Programme, for a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. The Youth Programme works with young refugees and asylum seekers in the Epirus region of Northern Greece, providing them with a sense of community and experiences that they wouldn’t otherwise receive!
There are some specific applicant requirements, however the most important is to have a strong desire to work with young refugees and have the commitment to improve the situation for them here in Greece. Second Tree works in a transparent way in a challenging and changeable situation on the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.
Your role would include:
We are looking to recruit people that are open to filling one (or more) of the following roles within our Youth Programme. Whilst these should guide applications, the roles often overlap and are interchangeable. Imagination and flexibility is encouraged when applying: let us know your suggestions on how we can use your skills!
The roles range across:
Children’s English Teacher: responsible for the planning and delivery of the programme’s English classes. Classes focus on low level English learning and must be fun and engaging. TEFL/equivalent experience is preferable, but not essential.
Excursion Lead: responsible for the planning and leading of weekend excursions, a highlight of the programme for participants! Excursions require an organised, methodical planner who is engaging and confident leading groups of children.
Workshop Lead: responsible for facilitating workshops that can be either thematic, reinforcing the vocabulary learned in English class to make it more practical and interactive, or focused on social and emotional learning, helping students develop their self-awareness through creative and mindful activities, or touch upon any scientific/mathematical knowledge the teacher might bring.
No matter the role(s) filled, team members are expected to help plan, prepare and participate in various community engagement activities such as: picnics, community excursions, sporting events, etc.
You should be able to:
Be consistent with your application of behaviour management techniques
Be honest and transparent; be able to give and receive feedback in the most straightforward way
Manage a wide range of tasks and intense workload effectively and efficiently

Accommodation in a shared house
Transportation to/from work
After completion of a three-month trial, if you commit long-term, a small monthly expenses refund
In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the shared houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let us know. We would still be happy to host you if space is available. However, in a situation where the shared houses are full, this would allow us to offer an opportunity to someone that cannot afford to pay rent.
Have experience leading a team of this type?
Consider applying to become a Youth Programme Coordinator. Whether your experience lies in the humanitarian sector or elsewhere, we are looking for people with expertise that can drive us forward as an organisation.
Looking for an internship?
If, because of your degree or for any other reason, you would like to have your period at Second Tree credited as an internship, just apply to the vacancy that you’re interested in and mention this. Keen to make a difference and gain experience as part of an award-winning charity with a global reach? We help young people in over 100 countries!

A little bit about us:
Teach A Man To Fish is an international educational charity with one all-encompassing mission: to empower young people with the skills they need to succeed in school, work and life. We use our school-business model to guide young people and their teachers in the planning and setting up of student-led school businesses that are both educational and profitable. Since 2006, we have supported over 438,000 young people and trained 19,000 teachers through our programmes to set up school businesses which have generated more than $2,000,000 in income! In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting schools worldwide, we launched a new programme: the Enterprise Adventure, a free mobile app for teenagers who want to learn about business and have a positive impact on their community.
The role:
We are looking for one or two volunteers to support the work of our International Programmes team. The ideal candidate will be available to volunteer for 15 hours per week for at least 3 months (ideally more). If you are based in London, you are welcome to volunteer from our office in Finsbury Park, otherwise you may volunteer from home if you prefer.
You will have the opportunity to get involved with a wide variety of tasks depending on your skills, interests and the time of the year. These include but are not limited to:
Helping to deliver our marketing strategy (e.g. social media content creation, website updates, carrying out research to increase our reach)
Helping to deliver our communications and engagement strategy to programme participants (liaising with and engaging young people and teachers through newsletters, blog posts, social media, videos and WhatsApp)
Supporting with designing educational materials and thinking of business quizzes (knowledge-based and trivia-based)
Supporting with coordinating the review of School Enterprise Challenge, the Enterprise Adventure and the Trash To Cash Challenge submissions and sending feedback and certificates
Contributing to the Monitoring & Evaluation of the programmes through data analysis to inform donor reports and programme improvements
Gathering and analysing feedback from programme participants (for example through surveys and ‘user testing’ sessions on Zoom)
The successful candidate(s) will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a positive can-do attitude, with lots of initiative.
In return, Teach A Man To Fish can offer a stimulating environment with plenty of opportunity to learn more about the development sector and the operations of a small international NGO with a large reach. With all our volunteer placements we try to tailor work to the candidates' areas of interest and provide valuable career guidance and advice. Lunch allowance will be provided.
