The Vacancy:

Emersons Green Village Hall is seeking to recruit a Chair of Trustees to build upon our success to date, provide visionary strategic leadership and steer the charity through its next stage of development and growth.

This is a voluntary role with a minimum time commitment of approximately five hours per month. We have up to six scheduled bi-monthly Board Meetings, which last up to two hours and are usually held on Tuesday evenings. In addition we have Committee Meetings to deal with finances and operations, plus our AGM.  Meetings are held via Microsoft Teams or in-person at Emersons Green Village Hall. 

The Role of the Chair:

The Chair’s role is to lead the Board of Trustees, providing strategic oversight and governance, and creating a positive and inclusive culture. The Chair will be actively leading on shaping the future of our Hall, developing the business, and setting its strategic direction to ensure financial viability for the future.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a wide variety of skills who can be an enabler to oversee the charity and build on the progress we have made to date. Ideally you will have experience of being a Trustee. We are also looking for individuals with leadership, management, and organisational development skills. Experience in the voluntary sector, community facilities or running community projects would also be beneficial.

As a ‘hands-on’ Chair, you will bring your experience and skills to the role and will be supported by the Trustee Board, plus an established staff team including the Hall and Events Manager, plus the Treasurer and Company Secretary.

Please note that you must be aged 18 years or older.

About Emersons Green Village Hall:

Emersons Green Village Hall is a charity which runs the community centre with the same name. Our aim is to be at the heart of the community. We run our own events and activities and hire out our rooms.

The first step is for our Company Secretary to show you around Emersons Green Village Hall and answer any questions about our operations and the building. If you wish to proceed with your application after your visit and discussion, we will take up your references. If these are satisfactory, one of the current Co-Chairs will interview you. The Board will then discuss any candidates proposed by the Co-Chair at our next Trustee Meeting and you will be notified of the outcome.

Our Company Secretary will then arrange for successful candidates to complete the necessary paperwork, including a basic DBS Check, before starting their roles as Trustees. 

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported. Activities include:

· Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by helping raise funds and awareness through organising local events. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. You will be supported and guided from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

We're looking for someone with the following:

· Great people skills and the ability to bring out the best in others

· Excellent organisational skills

· The ability to prioritise and delegate

· An appreciation of the importance of handling money and charity resources responsibly

· Fine-tuned communication skills and a passion for engaging with people within your local community

· Basic IT skills to use Cats Protection systems - training and support can be provided

· Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

We are seeking an organised, proactive, and digitally confident Social Media Manager to manage SSI’s social media channels, ensuring consistent, mission-led communication that connects with members, volunteers, partners, and the wider community.This role focuses on platform management, scheduling, live engagement, and audience interaction. 

You will work closely with the Graphic and Content Coordinator and the Marketing & Communications Team to ensure all activity aligns with SSI’s brand, values, and communications policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule, manage, and publish posts on SSI’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok) in line with content provided by the Graphic and Content Coordinator.

• Go live on social media platforms as needed to promote events, campaigns, or community initiatives.

• Monitor SSI’s social media channels, including comments, messages, tags, and mentions, ensuring timely, professional, community-centred responses.

• Collaborate with the Graphic and Content Coordinator and the Marketing & Communications Team to ensure messaging aligns with campaigns, brand guidelines, and organisational priorities.

• Track basic analytics and engagement data, providing concise reports and insights to inform ongoing activity.

• Ensure all social media activity complies with SSI’s Brand Identity, Social Media Policy, and Communications Policy.

• Support the promotion of events, membership drives, and campaigns through coordinated social media activity with the team. 

About You

Essential

• Experience in social media management and channel oversight.

• Confident using social media tools, scheduling platforms, and basic analytics dashboards.

• Strong organisational skills, able to manage calendars, live sessions, and multiple priorities.

• Clear, professional written communication and a community-centred approach when engaging online.

• Comfortable working collaboratively with the Graphic and Content Coordinator and the Marketing & Communications Team.

• Genuine interest in community engagement, social enterprise, and SSI’s mission.

Desirable

• Familiarity with analytics tools (Instagram Insights, Meta Analytics, or similar) to track engagement and inform strategy.

• Interest in ethical storytelling, nonprofit marketing, or advocacy work.

• Experience coordinating with creative teams or managing workflows across multiple stakeholders.

• Ability to interpret social media metrics and make practical recommendations for improvement.

• Experience working in a small team or dynamic environment where flexibility and adaptability are key.

• Strong organisational skills for managing multiple platforms, schedules, and live events simultaneously.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported. Activities include:

· Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· Planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· Keeping financial records from fundraising events

· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by helping raise funds and awareness through organising local events. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. You will be supported and guided from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

· Basic IT skills to use Cats Protection systems - training and support can be provided

· Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
