Job description

Lead the voice of a charity that's making a difference every day.

As the Head of Communications, you'll lead the development and delivery of North West First Responder Group's communications strategy, ensuring our story reaches communities, supporters, volunteers and partners across the North West.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about communications, marketing and public engagement. You'll oversee our communications activities, support a team of volunteer Communications Officers, and help grow our charity's profile while ensuring our messaging remains professional, engaging and consistent.

What you'll do

As Head of Communications, you will:

  • Develop and implement the charity's communications and marketing strategy.
  • Lead and support our team of Communications Officers.
  • Oversee the creation of content across social media, our website, newsletters and other digital platforms.
  • Ensure all communications reflect the charity's brand, values and objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate campaigns to support fundraising, recruitment, awareness and community engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with media outlets, partners and external organisations.
  • Produce or oversee press releases, media statements and promotional materials.
  • Monitor communications performance and identify opportunities to increase engagement and reach.
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive, senior leadership team and trustees to promote key organisational priorities.

What we're looking for

We're looking for an enthusiastic leader who is:

  • Experienced in communications, marketing, public relations or digital media (professional or voluntary).
  • A confident writer with excellent attention to detail.
  • Passionate about storytelling and community engagement.
  • Experienced in managing social media platforms and digital communications.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple projects.
  • A supportive leader who enjoys developing and motivating volunteers.
  • Creative, strategic and always looking for new ways to increase the charity's impact.

Experience within the charity sector is beneficial but not essential.

What you'll gain

By joining our Senior Leadership Team you'll receive:

  • The opportunity to shape the public profile of a rapidly growing charity.
  • Leadership experience within a registered charity.
  • The chance to lead an enthusiastic and talented communications team.
  • Access to training, mentoring and continuous professional development.
  • Opportunities to work with partners, media organisations and community stakeholders.
  • Recognition for helping grow awareness, volunteer recruitment and fundraising across the North West.

Every story you tell, every campaign you lead, and every volunteer you inspire helps strengthen our charity and enables us to support more Community First Responders and the communities they serve. If you're ready to lead with creativity and purpose, we'd love to hear from you.
