With an annual turnover of £8m, 250 staff and over 200 volunteers, we are one of the largest charities in the Mind network. SEL Mind was formed through the merger of Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind and Lambeth & Southwark Mind in January 2024.
We are seeking to add to the expertise of our experienced, professional Board of Trustees. All our Trustees need excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, strategic vision and good, independent judgement.

Behçet’s Disease is an auto-immune disorder which is incurable but can be managed by specialist consultants. It is very rare and can affect any part of the body. It often takes years to diagnose and can be debilitating to the patient.
Behçet’s Patients Centres (BPC), a charitable company, was formed in 2011 to provide the specialist, multi disciplinary care for patients.
We are seeking to recruit a Finance Director to our Board in order to both increase our experience and skills base and to facilitate effective succession management. This is a volunteer role that offers rewarding experience and the chance to make a difference in the lives of those who are affected by this rare condition.
This is a highly autonomous role that will make a big difference to the Board of Directors and their purpose to provide a service to one of the rarest patient groups in England. We’re looking for someone who can come in and help us build on our achievements and do things even better. You will be responsible for the financial management of the charitable company to ensure we successfully deliver our contractual commitments and thus influence the future of our funding, (we have a contract which runs until March 2028). You will play an important role as a member of the Board of Directors, ensuring they are guided by your financial expertise. This will involve preparing budgets; paying salaries and finances owing to HMRC and invoicing the NHS. The Wellbeing Officer (Trustee) provides information, guidance and advice to volunteers and service users around topics such as mental health and wellbeing. Additionally, if service users or volunteers have any concerns, the best point of contact is the wellbeing officer.
What do we specifically expect of this role?
● Delivery of a plan to proactively assist officers and volunteers in public-facing roles, with tools and techniques to prevent or reduce any initial harm/trauma from purposeful or accidental harmful interactions - social media, live events, outreach, panel events, etc.
● Providing support for service users by way of triaging and responding to requests that come through to the wellbeing inbox. ● Building and maintaining wellbeing resources for service users and following a data-informed approach as to areas of wellbeing improvement. How much commitment is required?
We are flexible around your own schedule. However, the following commitments are in place for all member of the Hidayah board:
● To be able to attend all Trustee meetings and to deliver a comprehensive report to the committee each meeting with updates and to completed actions as and when they appear;
● To aim to attend all other planning meetings as necessary when close to Hidayah events as well as the events themselves (where possible due to geography);
● To help to fundraise for, and advertise, any Hidayah events and fundraising drives;
● To be part of a communications group to keep up to date with Hidayah developments;
● To contribute toward and to maintain the administration of our file sharing system ‘Google Drive’ so it is always up to date with clear records, templates and forms; 1

The West Sussex Falls Prevention Exercise Service is funded by West Sussex County Council and delivered by Everyone Health LTD. Chair of Trustees role:
You will be chairing the Board of Trustees, ensuring that we have minimum representation required for decisions to be made, keeping the board aligned in decision-making, ensuring all minutes are recorded and that all decisions by trustees are made with the appropriate context provided.
This is a great opportunity to develop further governance skills and experience, and help steer an important charity in the right direction.
Trustees meetings are usually held every six weeks, plus there is an AGM, away days, and any sub-committee meetings that trustees may be involved in. Main purpose of the role:
Support and assist the Lunch Delivery.
Deliver the Hot Lunches into people’s homes.
Report any observations or concerns about service users’ wellbeing to the supervisor.
Tasks will include:
Supporting the Driver on the Lunch Delivery.
Carrying Hot Meals into Service Users Homes.
Using Key Safes to open doors where necessary.
Delivering Laundry and Shopping to some Service Users.
Provide a point of contact for Service Users.
Reporting on changes in Service Users well-being.
Reporting back any safeguarding concerns immediately to the supervisor.
Maintain regular contact with the supervisor.
Attend meetings and supervision sessions.
What you will receive in return:

Training for any other skills as identified by yourself and your supervisor.
Regular check-in with your supervisor, reflective supervision, and managerial support.

*Alfriston volunteers only: access to a discounted lunch (£5 per lunch, subject to availability). A minimum of 24 hours’ notice must be given.
What we expect from you:
Commitment for at least six months.
Completion of required training.
Adherence to Mind in Kingston’s policies (e.g., confidentiality, safeguarding).
Proactive engagement with your supervisor for support.
Application Process:
Two recent references are required.
An enhanced DBS check is necessary.
We ask volunteers for two references, one of which must come from someone who has supervised you recently in your work or studies, such as a current or previous employer or a tutor. You will also need to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, as you will be working with vulnerable adults.
