Housing Rights Support Volunteer Merseyside

Do you want to make a difference to someone experiencing the housing emergency?

Information about the role

You’ll be supporting our Housing Rights Workers to help people who are currently experiencing the housing emergency. This is a varied role, with tasks including gathering information from clients, keeping clients updated on their cases, completing research, data entry and other admin tasks. 

Location: Holy Trinity Church, Richmond Park, Liverpool, Merseyside

Suggested contribution: One day per week (can be flexible around your commitments).

Availability: Volunteering will take place at a time that suits you, within Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm

Main activities may include:

• Speaking with new clients about their circumstances to identify how we can help.

• Communicating with existing clients to gather information, provide updates and support them with practical tasks like form filling.

• Gathering and analysing data to identify local housing issues and trends. Compiling this information into a simple report.

• Completing administrative tasks such as photocopying and scanning.

• You will be able to claim reasonable volunteering expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer expenses policy. Where financial circumstances would be a barrier to volunteering, we may be able to offer these funds in advance. 

• You will be able to access our volunteer support package, including our colleague assistance programme and Shelter’s network of mental health first aiders.

Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Little Venice Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Our House Experience Volunteers add the sparkle to any visit – giving everyone a warm welcome, bringing stories from Ickworth to life and helping people get the best out of their day. 

 This role will suit you if you are:

• Being an ambassador for the whole property and the National Trust. Helping visitors understand the full scope of the offer at Ickworth beyond the house.
• Learning more about Ickworth, so you can share your knowledge and stories of the family and their collections with visitors.
• Responding to the changing needs of Ickworth – supporting ongoing interpretation strategies in the House.
• Supporting with health and safety and evacuation procedures if required.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

We are so excited to have reopened the St Andrews Shop with a wonderful new look! 

Our St Andrews Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Skills and experiences we seek

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need any retail or shop experience as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and to follow our policies as well as be an excellent representative for Save the Children. 

We know that our shop teams are stronger when they are inclusive and representative of their communities. Everybody can make a real difference. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, from all backgrounds, and we will do what we can to find a role that works for you.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

Created and facilitated by Crisis Skylight Brent, Voices for Homeless is a peer-led group based on the simple truth: people with lived experience know what needs to change. Their insight, resilience and creativity are essential to creating solutions that actually work. The group ranges from the actively homeless, people who have been homed and people with past and present alcohol and drug dependency.

We are seeking an Activities Assistant Volunteer to support with the running of the group. The successful candidate will be passionate about co-production, be dynamic in their work and be able to think creatively and innovatively about solutions to ending homelessness. You will be working alongside the Co-production and Partnerships Co-ordinator who will offer direct support and supervision. Due to the specific nature of the role, we particularly encourage people with lived experience of homelessness to apply, however the role is open to all.

What will I be doing?

Tasks you may support with include: 

Planning 

• Sharing any thoughts and ideas you have as part of the planning for a session 
• Support with preparing resources for the session/setting up/tidying up any equipment and materials

 Delivery 

• Creating a safe, welcome and non-judgemental space 
• With direction from the tutor/Activities Lead, supporting members within the group to increase both their knowledge and confidence  
• Supporting tutors and leads with group dynamics, and feeding back any concerns you have

 You will work closely with the tutor/ leads who will have an understanding of the needs and learning outcomes required for the session.

You will be part of a team committed to ending homelessness and ensuring that not only do our members end their homelessness, but they have the skills to sustain that and their wellbeing. The Role We are looking for a highly organized and reliable volunteer to join us remotely as an Operations Support Coordinator. In this role, you will be the glue that holds our daily operations together. If you love keeping things tidy, organizing information, and supporting a busy team from the comfort of your own home, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

• Day-to-Day Admin: Helping our team with general administrative tasks to keep projects moving.

• Data Entry & Organization: Keeping our records, files, and databases accurate and up to date.

• Self-Motivated: Since this is a remote role, you are happy to work independently and manage your own time.

• Friendly Communicator: You are comfortable reaching out to team members online and writing clear, polite emails.

• No prior charity experience is strictly required, just a willingness to learn and pitch in!

Julian House is a charity dedicated to making a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. We run several projects and every year we help thousands of people out of homelessness, into employment, away from domestic abuse, and more.

Our Charity Shops recycle used or unwanted items that people have donated and make sure they go to a good home which reduces waste and helps the environment.

Social Media and Communications Assistant

What You’ll Do

Help promote Age UK Enfield’s work by creating engaging content for social media and supporting our communications. You’ll help us reach more older people, volunteers, and supporters through creative, informative posts and storytelling.

You will:

· Create social media posts using provided content or your own creative ideas

· Take photos or short videos at events

· Assist with newsletters, leaflets, and other communications

· Share insights or analytics to help improve our reach

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

· Creativity and written communication skills

· Social media content creation

· Basic digital design (e.g., using Canva – training can be provided)

· Attention to detail and tone of voice

· Awareness of inclusive and accessible communication
