Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Cats Protection helps thousands of cats every year. Our fundraising volunteers play a vital role in making this possible. By using your passion for cats and people, you’ll help raise the funds needed to support more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we’ll support you to get involved in a way that suits you best. Whether you enjoy organising events, fundraising online, promoting activities on social media, helping with administration, or coming up with fresh ideas — there’s a place for you here. Whatever your skills or interests, this could be the perfect role.

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

Time commitment

This role is flexible and designed to fit around your other commitments. You’ll be part of a friendly team raising vital funds — and having fun along the way.

As a charity, our Trustees are the governing body of our organisation. They fulfil a vital role and help ensure that the Mayor’s Fund for London delivers on its mission and purpose and uses its resources effectively. Much more than that, they help set and shape the strategy of the Charity, they live its values, and they are ambassadors on its behalf.

We are currently recruiting for 3 new Trustees.

As a charity that supports and champions better outcomes for young people in London, we are especially interested in recruiting some new trustees aged 24-30. This may be through direct experience of the challenges young Londoners are facing, through experience and knowledge of our programmes and activities, and/or a desire to take a step into a strategic governance role with a charity whose mission matters to them.

The Board already has a wide range of diversity, experience and expertise, and we are keen to continue to broaden that experience through this recruitment. In particular, we are looking for some knowledge in:

•  Charity Finance 
•  Data and Technology 
•  Funding and Income Generation 

At the Mayor’s Fund for London, we want our Trustees to feel part of our team. To bring insights and experience into our organisation, and to be prepared to work collaboratively with staff and young people, to shape opportunities for the future.

The Board meets four times per year (March, July, September, and December), and has one sub-committee covering Finance, Audit and Risk (FAR), which meets two weeks before the Board. Trustees are expected to attend all full Board meetings, and those nominated to join the FAR Committee are expected to attend those meetings too. All of our meetings are currently online to allow flexibility, and there is an expectation that, from time to time, Trustees will engage with the staff team and be present at our events.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. The purpose of this role is to support the organisation with communications and administration at a local level. You’ll play an active part in the branch committee and support the branch with record keeping and planning, thus enabling more cats to be helped.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Disseminating relevant organisation-wide information and updates to the branch volunteers
• Supporting engagement and communication between the branch and wider organisation
• Drafting committee meeting agendas and taking and sharing meeting minutes
• Supporting the efficient running of the branch by ensuring administration processes are carried out effectively
• Supporting the administration and update of the branch annual plan 
• Sign-posting queries from members of the public
• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided

Time expectation

Our support volunteers usually spend 2-5 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

About Roots Academy

At Roots Academy, we’ve built a learning experience that’s changing the lives of the ummah’s future leaders, change-makers and visionaries.

Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 1,800 students across the UK.

Role Summary

As the Fundraising Coordinator, you will be responsible for helping create and implementing strategies to fundraise from both existing and new sources (individuals, mosques, grants etc.) with the aim of securing the long-term financial stability of Roots Academy.

Key tasks

Fundraising Planning:

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve income goals.
• Identify potential new funding sources and opportunities for income generation.

Campaign Management:

• Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and events, including direct appeals, online campaigns, and fundraising events at mosques.
• Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to develop compelling fundraising material.

Proposal Development:

• Research trusts, foundations and corporations for grant opportunities.
• Work with the team to develop proposals, supporting with grant writing when needed.

Budget Oversight:

• Work closely with the finance team to monitor fundraising budgets, expenditure, and financial projections.

Donor Relations:

• Support with Donor Communications in activities related to donor relationship management and stewardship.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in organising fundraising campaigns and events, including digital fundraising strategies
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques, including donor cultivation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organisation’s mission and impact to diverse audiences
• Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective fundraising plans
• Strong understanding of Islam and the Muslim Community

Maintenance Volunteer

About the Role

As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will help maintain and improve the homes and environments of people with autism, sight loss, and learning disabilities. Your support will help create safe, comfortable, and welcoming spaces where people can thrive.

This role involves practical tasks such as painting, decorating, gardening, and general DIY. Please note that electrical, plumbing, and gas work are not included in this volunteer role.

 The Difference You Will Make

By volunteering, you will help to:

• Improve the appearance and comfort of people's homes.
• Create safe and welcoming environments.
• Support people to feel proud of where they live.
• Enhance the wellbeing of the people we support.

 What You Will Do

• Assist with painting and decorating projects.

• Help with gardening and outdoor maintenance.
• Support with assembling furniture and equipment.
• Follow health and safety guidance at all times.
• Report any maintenance concerns to SeeAbility staff.

To support MumsAid in understanding how effectively its services meet the needs of the mums we support. By gathering feedback and contributing to monitoring activities, this role helps ensure that service development is informed by lived experience and that accurate data is available to meet funding and reporting requirements.

The centres deliver a range of support groups and activities for children and their families to help them be healthy, grow and develop. To make it easy for families to fit sessions and services around their busy lives, access is available from any Hertfordshire Family centre. We have locations across the entire county so please do enquire ensuring you have provided your postcode. 

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities/ Activities

To support early years sessions for families with children aged 0–5, including those with SEND and emerging needs, by promoting engagement and child development through group activities.

Key Responsibilities:

To support qualified staff in creating a welcoming environment for families attending breastfeeding and infant feeding sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

· Welcome parents and carers to infant feeding sessions, making them feel at ease.

· Offer encouragement, reassurance, and a listening ear to families, providing peer support under staff guidance.

· Support with preparing and tidying away resources used during sessions.

· Model sensitivity, respect, and inclusivity when discussing feeding choices.

· Promote the benefits of breastfeeding and infant feeding best practices (Hertfordshire Family Centres are Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) accredited through UNICEF)

Skills / Abilities / Experience / Qualities

Oxfam Till Volunteers Newcastle, Percy Street

Do you enjoy meeting people and chatting?

We’re seeking friendly, reliable individuals aged 18 or over who want to make a

difference in their community. No prior experience is needed, as we provide

full training. If you’re open to learning, enjoy working with others, and have a

passion for helping people, you’ll fit right in!

You have the time to become a volunteer in your community; you might be

looking for work experience, the opportunity to meet new people, or keep active.

When:

· Monday to Saturday and Sundays – Am/Pm – 4 hours or just even 2 hours we are very flexible.

What you will be doing:

· Chatting to Customers - giving great customer service on the till.

· Operating the Till

· Keeping the shop floor clean and tidy

· Accepting donations from members of the public

· Assisting with stocking the shop floor

· Full Training and support are given for this role – no prior experience necessary.

· Lunch expenses paid for 5 hours or more volunteered in one shift up to £7.00

· Travel expenses are paid when travelling by bus, parking expenses are paid if driving and petrol expenses are paid at the discretion of the Shop Manager.

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Edinburgh Stockbridge Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

By providing live-saving short-term help, and pushing for deep-rooted social change, we help children take, their future into their own hands. We believe every child has the right to learn. Role Summary

To bring our vision to life, you will play a pivotal role in spreading the message of Roots to a wider audience. You will be responsible for planning and hosting episodes for the podcasts alongside the team. You will be responsible for bringing these plans to life once the camera starts rolling, creating an engaging, welcoming and student-friendly atmosphere through your questions, style and rapport with guests.

Key tasks

• Content creation: Create a podcast plan and structure for each podcast with Podcast Lead. Creating contingency plans if things don’t go to plan (e.g. guest cancels).

• Hosting duties: Introduce the episode and guest, guide the flow of the conversation, time manage the podcast itself so each one is of an appropriate length, intermittently summarise the key points of the guest for the viewers.

• Guest relations: Create a comfortable environment for the guest and make them feel at ease before the podcast starts. Includes pre-filming communications and preparation.

What we’re looking for

You should have the following prerequisites:

• Experience in podcast hosting or other forms of public speaking.

• Understanding of the audience and their needs.

You should be comfortable with:

• Holding a conversation with a variety of guests from different backgrounds.

• Adapting to changes in the filming plan and having contingencies.

• Collaborating with the podcast team on delivery and planning.

• Travelling to different locations for filming.

Read Easy provides free, confidential, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, through a network of volunteer groups. Read Easy groups are changing the lives of individual adults across the country by providing them with the support they need to learn to read, and in turn opening doors for them to all sorts of new opportunities in life. Outline of the IT Supporter role
It is amazing how much difference you could make to your local group by providing IT support, either remotely or in person. Even the smallest things like setting up email accounts, using video calling software and creating social media accounts can be a real challenge for some volunteers, so your expertise will make the world of difference to supporting your local group to help adults learn to read in your community.

The skills you will need
● Knowledge and previous experience of fundraising is desirable, though not essential.
● A willingness to seek out potential sources of funding.
● Experience of writing funding bids is desirable, though not essential.
● Good negotiating and influencing skills.
● The ability to use initiative and work independently.
● A willingness to abide by Read Easy policies and procedures.
● An open attitude that encourages two-way communication and willingness to ask for and offer support to the Team.
● A non-judgemental attitude and respect for others, with a commitment to equality and diversity, so that you can make everyone feel valued and included.
● Energy and enthusiasm with an average of three hours a month to commit to the role

Arts and Crafts Volunteer

About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and creative Arts and Crafts Volunteers to support people with learning disabilities, autism, and sight loss to take part in enjoyable and meaningful arts and crafts activities. This rewarding role provides an opportunity to share your creativity, build confidence in others, and help create a fun and inclusive environment where everyone can express themselves.

The Difference You Will Make

As an Arts and Crafts Volunteer, you will help people develop new skills, express their creativity, increase their confidence, and build social connections. Your support can make a significant difference by reducing isolation, encouraging participation, and helping individuals achieve their personal goals while having fun.

 What You Will Do

• Support and encourage people to participate in arts and crafts activities.
• Help set up and tidy away materials and equipment.
• Assist individuals to complete creative projects at their own pace.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive, and positive atmosphere.
• Encourage social interaction and conversation during sessions.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. You do not need to be an artist or have professional experience—just enthusiasm and a willingness to help others.

We are looking for people who are:

• Passionate about helping people achieve their potential.

Requirements

Successful volunteers will be required to:

• Complete an enhanced DBS check.
• Provide two satisfactory references.
• Complete some online training
• Follow SeeAbility's policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
