We are looking for a friendly and reliable Resident Engagement Support Volunteer to help create a welcoming and positive environment for residents living in our accommodation in Welwyn Garden City, Hatfied and High Wycombe hostels.

This is a flexible role that will begin with a focus on befriending and social connection. Volunteers will help open the residents’ café, serve teas and coffees, and spend time chatting with residents to help build rapport and reduce social isolation.

As confidence and relationships develop, the role can be shaped around the volunteer’s interests, skills and ideas. We welcome volunteers who may wish to support additional activities such as games, quizzes, crafts, wellbeing activities, cooking sessions, or sharing practical life skills.

No specialist experience is required - just a warm approach, good listening skills and a willingness to engage with people.

Key Responsibilities

· Opening and helping run the residents’ café during the afternoon session.

· Preparing and serving teas, coffees and refreshments.

· Offering a friendly welcome to residents.

· Spending time talking with residents and building positive relationships.

· Encouraging residents to take part in social activities, signposting to staff where additional support is needed.

· Supporting or helping to organise simple activities such as board games, crafts or quizzes.

· Sharing personal skills or hobbies where appropriate (for example cooking, baking or creative activities).

· Co-designing activities based on resident feedback and interest

· Work alongside staff to create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for residents.

· Uphold One YMCA’s safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety policies at all times.

Training / Support

· A full induction to the service and specific site will be provided.

· Requirement to undertake One YMCA online training courses, including safeguarding; Health & Safety Awareness and Manual Handling where appropriate.

· To understand and implement One YMCA’s policies.

· Ongoing support and regular 1:1 meetings with your line manager

· Access to organisational events throughout the year including a Volunteer’s Celebration and Annual conference

As a volunteer you will also be involved in receiving, sorting, steaming, and pricing our lovely donations, serving at the till, and using your creativity to create displays around the shop. Training will be provided. As a volunteer, you will be helping to raise money for the Octavia Foundation and support the work we do in the local community.

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. Purpose of the Role:

Support the delivery of engaging and practical IT sessions at the Baytree Centre, helping adult participants gain confidence in using laptops, smartphones, and other digital tools for everyday tasks. By offering guidance, encouragement, and a welcoming environment, the role empowers participants to enhance their digital skills and navigate technology with ease.

Main Responsibilities:

- Provide one-to-one support to participants, helping them with basic laptop and smartphone functions.

- Ensure all materials and resources are available and organised for each session.

- Create a supportive and inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable learning and asking questions.

- Encourage participants to engage with each other, sharing tips and experiences.

- Collect feedback from participants to help improve future sessions.

- Adhere to Baytree Centre policies and procedures.

Commitment:

- Assist in weekly IT sessions, usually held Monday to Thursday between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm (exact times subject to the timetable).

- Minimum commitment of 2 terms for continuity and effectiveness.

Please note that this role will operate from our Manchester Road charity shop and is suitable only for volunteers aged 21+ and those who have had their license for 2+ years.

Role Purpose:

In this role, you will be generally working alongside another driver, collecting and transporting stock between shops and customers' homes and between our various charity shops in a Forget Me Not van. This would include furniture and therefore some heavy lifting and carrying.

Shifts

Shifts are flexible to suit you, with options for half or full days Monday through Sunday, with a full day being around 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Tasks & activities

• Delivering and collecting stock and donations to and from Forget Me Not charity shops, homes, businesses and other locations.

• Ensuring the van is used efficiently and is clean and presentable, carrying out basic checks at the end of the day to make sure the van is roadworthy.

• Following the instructions of the Transport Team Lead to ensure donated/purchased goods are collected/delivered on the day specified and in accordance with policy.

Personal qualities & experience

You need to be approachable and friendly. Previous experience of working in this area is not essential but would be useful. Knowledge of the local area and shop locations would be helpful.

We’re looking for 3 Support Group Volunteers over the age of 18 years old, based at First Presbyterian Church, 1 Loy Street, Cookstown, BT80 8PZ.

You’ll be volunteering every Tuesday between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

We empower people by providing compassionate guidance and practical assistance as they navigate the often-complex process of applying for disability benefits.

We are looking for a thoughtful, motivated and committed volunteer with good listening and communication skills to join our Benefits Support Service. You will have experience of working with people with mental health issues, either through work, volunteering or lived experience, and some knowledge of welfare benefits gained through work, volunteering or personal experience. • Supporting clients on a one-to-one basis, either in person or over the phone, to complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Work Capability Assessment (WCA) forms

Lead Volunteer – Winter Fundraising Bucket Collection - Oxford

Role summary

Do you want to join our movement and defend the right to a safe home? We’re looking for someone who can lead a team of volunteers at events in the community to help us raise money and awareness. The housing emergency hurts everyone. The fight to end it starts here! 

The main thing we need you to do is help us fundraise. You’ll be vital to our fundraising efforts for the Winter Appeal by holding collection buckets in public spaces. Your support is not only crucial to our fundraising efforts, but it’s also opportunity to have fun, meet new people and experience some wonderful community spirit while contributing towards our mission.

You’ll be supporting our bucket collection by helping us to create an energetic and friendly atmosphere to gather donations. You will: 

• Support and coordinate the volunteer team on the day at events. 

• Deposit cash into Shelter bank account at the end of the event or pass over to Shelter staff member 

To enable you to take part in this opportunity we will:

• Provide you with relevant policies, induction, training and information 

• Refund any out-of-pocket expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer expenses policy
