The Opportunity

Are you looking to use your professional leadership and management skills to make a real social impact? We are seeking two proactive and highly organised Volunteer Operations Leads (Directors) to jointly support the hands-on delivery of our vital community hub programmes.

Guided directly by the CEO, you will work together to ensure our diverse services run smoothly, remain on time, and stay within budget. This rewarding role offers high-level operations management experience within the charity sector, allowing you to act as a central pillar across our entire organisation.

What You Will Do

As part of a dual-lead operational team, your role will span a range of business and project administration duties:

• Programme Delivery: Jointly manage and deliver community hub programmes (90% of which are free), ranging from our Homeschooling Hub to After-School and Holiday Clubs.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Support staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders, ensuring the team remains timely, professional, and kind during service delivery.
• CEO Support: Coordinate directly with the CEO to manage workflows, schedule essential meetings, and align project timelines.
• Human Resources: Assist with tracking volunteer onboarding records and training schedules.
• Fundraising Support: Help track grant applications and coordinate local fundraising events.
• Communications & Social Media: Create engaging content using Canva and manage our active social media profiles to promote hub activities.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for overseeing broader financial management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, resource allocation and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

• Having oversight of all financial management across the organization and developing reports for the board
• To overall manage budgeting and financial forecasting
• To ensure that the department heads covering fundraising and finance are supported and well aligned with the strategic direction and priorities of Youth Advantage UK
• To ensure the organization has sufficient financial resources
• To ensure fundraising occurs and supports the organization's need
• To line manage departmental heads with relevant departments
• To contribute to wider C Level Executive work such as taking part in meetings, presenting the organization and dealing with problems as they arise

Requirements:

• To have over 5 years of experience in the financial sector
• To have at least 2 years of experience in a senior financial management role (such as Senior Manager or Department Head) 
• To be able to provide leadership and management
• To have good IT skills, accounting skills, budgeting skills, ability to use spreadsheets and remote systems and good communication skills

About the Role

About The Longest Yarn

The Longest Yarn is an internationally recognised knitted and crocheted exhibition project preserving wartime stories through immersive textile art, historical interpretation and community participation. Registered as an Association in France since 2023 with CIO pending in U.K. 

Having toured extensively across the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States, The Longest Yarn now consists of two major exhibitions.

One exhibition, The Longest Yarn: Britain at War, is based in the United Kingdom and is already booked to tour major cathedrals and other significant venues through to 2028.

The original D-Day exhibition now has its permanent home in Normandy near the landing beaches, where it is exhibited for approximately six months of the year, with the flexibility to tour across the UK or Europe during the winter months.

Together, the exhibitions continue to grow as a major international remembrance and heritage initiative.

Founded as a simple project combining creativity, education, remembrance, community involvement and support for veteran causes through large-scale public exhibitions and events, The Longest Yarn rapidly exceeded all expectations, attracting more than 500,000 visitors within just 23 months.

We are currently working with several veteran charities, including one major initiative helping to provide a home for a homeless veteran living with PTSD. Developing and expanding our support for veteran causes remains an important part of the future vision for The Longest Yarn.

The CFDN charity has been in existence since 1962 servicing people with disabilities and their families of all faiths and none across Essex and East London. Responsibilities

- Help plan, organise and run fundraising initiatives and events

- Market and promote our events and activities across your area

- Assist with project management, including planning, organising, and executing community fundraising projects and events at a local level

- Participate in fundraising efforts face-to-face, online or remotely to support community programs

Job Purpose

The Volunteer Digital Marketing Director (Team Lead) will oversee and coordinate the organisation’s digital marketing activities while helping lead a growing team of volunteers focused on audience growth, engagement, and online visibility.

You will play a key role in developing and implementing digital marketing strategies that strengthen the organisation’s online presence, increase community engagement, support campaign growth, and help amplify our mission globally.

This role requires leadership, creativity, organisation, strategic thinking, communication skills, and a passion for advocacy, healing, and purpose-driven storytelling.

About the Role

The Volunteer Digital Marketing Director (Team Lead) will:

• Lead and coordinate digital marketing volunteers and contributors

• Develop and oversee digital marketing campaigns and audience growth strategies

• Support visibility across:

• Collaborate with SEO, outreach, content, production, and creative teams

• Support branding, messaging, and community engagement strategies

• Help build systems, workflows, and scalable marketing processes

• Assist in planning promotional activities, launches, and awareness campaigns

• Encourage collaboration, accountability, and team development within the marketing department

About YAUK

Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.

Please note that this is a remote VOLUNTEER role.

We won't accept applications from individuals residing outside of the UK as we operate on the principle of bettering the lives of young people in the UK. Therefore, we require our volunteers to have an understanding of what it is like to live in the UK.

We are looking to recruit four people who can commit their time and effort on a voluntary basis. We are recruiting Communications Officers to join either our Social Media team or our Website Development Team.

• To input into a regular flow of communications activity in either the website or social media team

• To work with others to design content and design strategy
