Role Description:

This role sits within our Men’s Minds project, based in Feltham, Hounslow. The aim of the service is to improve men’s mental health outcomes by developing a mental health network supported and directed by the voices of its members.

This will be achieved through three service strands: 1) Peer support network, 2) Psychoeducation workshops, addressing common needs of men’s mental health 3) Outreach support to raise awareness of men’s mental health and promote this service.

The role of the Volunteer Group Facilitator will be to independently run a men’s group in line with WL Mind core values. This volunteer role is suitable for people with experience and interest in facilitating groups for men. In liaison with the Co-ordinator you will be responsible for planning and delivering groups. You will help support set up and clear up the weekly groups.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face in a group basis to individuals.

We are looking for someone who

• Someone who identifies as male
• Has lived experience of mental health challenges

• Are willing to tap into their lived experiences and use their stories to inspire hope in others when appropriate
• Are comfortable with co-producing and co-facilitating peer led workshops
• To assist the Project Coordinator with admin and planning
• Are able to take on any ad hoc admin/support responsibilities
• Knowledge around safeguarding policies and procedures
• Knowledge and experience of risk management

Time commitment and expenses:

• Flexible hours between Monday-Thurs. We are looking for someone to commit to a minimum of at least 1 or 2 activities a week.
• We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role.

Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?

We're looking for 3 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists volunteers ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service. 

As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.  

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.

People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.

Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.

What the role involves

This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

• Undertake client assessments following triage by Clinical Lead, followed by counselling / therapy (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus a check in and 4 psychometric assessments

• Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

• Update our database with the client’s information, sessional notes and session attendance

• Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR

• Attending and participating in monthly group supervision support of 1.5 hours a month

• Attend CPD training to ensure your knowledge stays current

• Participating in volunteer meetings
• Maintaining client confidentiality, upholding data protection and equal opportunities principles

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.

What you need for this role

Essential

• Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised membership organisations (see below)
• Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR 
• Minimum of 100 hours supervised
• Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required
• A valid DBS certificate (enhanced version), which is less than three years old and renewed every three years (the charity can provide where necessary)
• Able to keep people’s personal data safe

• Willing and able to provide counselling via Zoom from a private location with a stable WiFi connection

• Able to support a minimum of 3 clients a week, being three hours of your time for therapy sessions plus time for administration and attending group supervision for 1.5 hours a month. We ideally hope you to offer the charity a minimum commitment of six months.

• Knowledge of chronic pain or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

You will join the charity during a critical and challenging period where referrals are on the rise and your expert knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our success. You will have a key role in not only developing a counselling service for our clients but also ensure we provide counselling services and mental health support to our CRPS patients & their families who are in need of our support and inclusion on a regular basis. Purpose: To secure funding for Youth Kaleidoscope by researching, writing and submitting high-quality grant and sponsorship proposals, and by tracking and reporting on grant applications and outcomes to ensure sustainability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Grant & Sponsorship Proposals:

• Research funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, corporate sponsors, and statutory bodies. 

• Draft, tailor, and submit compelling grant and sponsorship proposals that align with Kaleidoscope mission and project needs. 

• Collaborate with relevant team members to gather data, impact stories, and supporting documents for applications. 

Grant Tracking & Reporting :

• Maintain an up-to-date log of all applications, deadlines, and outcomes. 

• Monitor the progress of applications and respond to funder queries as needed. 

• Prepare and submit timely progress and outcome reports to funders, ensuring compliance with grant conditions. 

• Analyse outcomes to inform future strategy and improve success rates. 

Additional Duties:

• Attend team meetings - 1 hour online on a fortnightly basis

• Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies and share insights on funding trends 

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising or bid writing (charity sector experience desirable). 

• High level of written and spoken English.

• Manage our core administration, ensuring governance and compliance documents, records and processes are kept up to date; including managing filings with Companies House and the Charity Commission, and managing the conflicts of interest register.
• Support the Board and CEO with meeting management; helping to prepare agendas, minutes, board packs and maintain a robust rolling action log.
• Ensure good governance, keeping us aligned with legal and regulatory requirements; always advising best practice and updating the board on the Charity Governance Code.
• Support the Trustee onboarding process, helping us to stay structured and efficient. 
• Be the organisational backbone, helping Minstead Trust to stay steady, safe and well run.

This role is voluntary, but you will be supported by a professional team across Finance, People & Culture and Administration to ensure you are able to operate effectively.  Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.
• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

Read Easy Waltham Forest is a local group that provides free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching for adults who want to learn or improve their reading skills. We match local residents with trained volunteer coaches for sessions every week, meeting in safe, convenient places around the borough of Waltham Forest. By teaching adults to read, we do so much more than just improve literacy—we help boost mental health, build daily independence, and transform lives across our community.

We are now looking for our new Team Leader.

The Read Easy Management Team Leader is a vital volunteer position for our local branch of the adult literacy charity Read Easy. The purpose of the charity is to help adults in the area who want to improve their reading skills, and we are currently supporting 15 readers.

Your role is to oversee and support a small team of enthusiastic and friendly volunteers and to manage monthly meetings. The role requires leadership and administrative skills to keep the group running smoothly. Key responsibilities include leading a team of skilled and experienced volunteers and working with them to plan activity and set future goals. You will also occasionally liaise with the Read Easy area co-ordinator for the South East and ensure the group is run in compliance with Read Easy policies.

The time commitment is flexible but would be around 4 to 5 hours per week, plus one monthly management team meeting which is in the evening.

Volunteering with Read Easy is fun and rewarding. To hear that a parent can read to their child for the first time, that someone can read the aisle names in supermarkets or that someone has been able to fill in a form by themselves for the first time in their life means that we know that we are making a positive change.
