OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation is a registered educational charity, founded in 1996, that promotes inclusive spirituality and serves people of all faiths, and none. We train open-hearted adults to serve their communities as interfaith ministers, celebrants, and spiritual companions, supporting life’s important moments through ceremony, ritual, and compassionate care.

Volunteer Coffee Shop Assistant

Role Summary: We are looking for volunteers to assist our newly refurbished Coffee Shop in providing a welcoming and pleasant environment for customers. This role requires someone with good communication and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide a high level of customer service to customers
• Basic food preparation
• Make tea and coffee
• To ensure the tables and surrounding area are clean and tidy
• To load and unload a dishwasher
• Operate a till and balance the daily takings
• To provide a prompt, pleasant and courteous service

You will be assisted by our Facilities team leaders who will ensure that you have all the support you require to carry out the role.

Communications:

The Facilities team leaders will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.

About MS Together

MS Together is a charity focused on supporting young adults (18–35) living with multiple sclerosis. We provide peer support, accessible information, and inclusive events to help young people feel less alone and more empowered to live well with MS. We’re looking for a Treasurer who wants to join our friendly and committed Board of Trustees to support and develop the work of Maa Shanti.

About Maa Shanti

We offer practical support, advocacy, emotional support, and activities tailored to the needs of South Asian mothers. Services are available in person, online, or in a blended format, and the team speaks Bengali, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi to ensure culturally sensitive engagement.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities: 

• To oversee, approve and present all yearly budgets, quarterly and annual accounts and other relevant financial statements.
• Review budgets, accounts, and financial statements in advance of Board meetings.
• Present regular reports on the organisation's financial position.
• Advise fellow Trustees on a regular basis of the financial status of the charity, and where necessary, recommend action.
• Ensure the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements with regards to financial matters.
• Maintain sound financial management of the charity’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the agreed budget and investment activities meet accepted standards and policies.

Time Commitment

• Quarterly Board meetings (which are currently held online).
• 2 away days a year. In addition to Board meetings, there will be some ad hoc work support required in between meetings.
• Overall estimated time commitment is 1 day a month.
• Remote/hybrid working offered if needed.

What are we looking for?

You do not need previous governance experience to join the board. We will provide an induction an ongoing support. 

Skills and experience: 

• Practicing finance professional (i.e. Accountant, Finance Manager, Finance Director).
• Ideally you will have charity finance experience.
• Ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board.
• Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.
• Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion.
• Enthusiasm for the work of Maa Shanti.

About The Role

Love nature and people? Join us as a Visitor Engager at WWT Slimbridge.

As a Visitor Engager, you’ll be out in the heart of the Wetland Centre, welcoming visitors and helping them connect with the amazing world of wetlands. From bringing conservation stories to life at our Arctic Adventure and Mission Possible exhibits, to inspiring families with hands-on activities and talks, this is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You’ll help visitors discover incredible wetland species, support unforgettable experiences for all ages, and play a key part in sharing WWT’s vital conservation work. If you enjoy being outdoors, engaging with the public, and inspiring others through nature, this role could be for you.

We are particularly looking for people available to help on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Unfortunately this role is not available for Under 18's.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll roam some of the most exciting exhibits around the centre, welcoming visitors, answering questions and helping them get the most from their visit. By sharing your knowledge of wetland species and seasonal highlights, using hands-on props and guides, and supporting family-friendly activities during events and school holidays, you’ll help bring WWT’s conservation work to life. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

What is a Recruitment Coordinator?

Recruitment Coordinators help us find local people interested in supporting SSAFA and take them through our recruitment and selection process.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our beneficiaries come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

To offer the best possible service to our clients we need to match the right volunteers to the right role. Could you spare a few hours a week to help recruit new volunteers and welcome them to SSAFA by supporting them through their induction phase? We’d love to hear from you if think you could help with this important role.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

The role is about recruitment and so will involve attending local recruitment fairs a few times a year as well as meeting volunteers both face-to-face and virtually. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but the administration part of the ole can be done form home.

What would you be doing?

• Be the first point of contact for all volunteering enquiries, ensuring that all potential volunteers receive a timely response.
• Supporting volunteers through the recruitment and induction process and ensuring volunteers are communicated with throughout.
• Arranging informal interviews for new volunteers conducted in-line with SSAFA policies.
• Conducting ID checks (where relevant) so the volunteer can begin the vetting process
• Supporting volunteers to book onto role specific training and ensuring they complete their mandatory training.
• Working with the VDM to ensure branch vacancies are advertised on the branch website and national websites and support any national recruitment campaigns
• Maintaining good relationships with local Volunteer Centres and other local sources of volunteer promotion and attend local recruitment fairs.
• Evaluating volunteer recruitment activity, experimenting with creative ways to recruit volunteers from a variety of sources to create a diverse network of volunteers.
• Treating all potential volunteers inclusively with respect and sensitivity, regardless of age or background
• Supporting any volunteers facing barriers to find a suitable role.
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer, or fundraiser.
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

What training and support would you receive?

• Role specific training to prepare you for your voluntary role - volunteer management – attracting, recruiting, and inducting volunteers. This training would take approx. 3 hours.
• Mandatory on-line training modules to complete at home, so you are up to date on how to keep clients, their families safe and personal information safe.  
• Access to a range of e-learning courses.
• Support from the Volunteer Development Manager and Trainer (per region)
• Access to the Volunteer Experience Team based at our central office.
• Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
• Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

What are we looking for?

• Friendly and approachable people, with good listening skills, patience, and a positive attitude  
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good written and spoken English.
• Respectful and non-judgemental with potential volunteers, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues
• Willingness and ability to use IT systems for initial and on-going training and during the role, including accessing and responding to emails and using Microsoft offices software.
• Ability to encourage and motivate all volunteers to undertake training.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and keep information safely., in line with SSAFA policies.
• Access to public transport or a car to travel to meetings and events and t meet volunteers.
