About the volunteer role

To provide our volunteers with opportunities to gain a variety of skills and experience, we offer them a range of volunteer roles to choose from, which include:

• Stock preparation volunteer
• Volunteer shop sales assistant
• Volunteer stock generation assistant
• Volunteer window dresser/Merchandiser
• Specialist knowledge volunteer (antiques and collectables)
• Specialist knowledge volunteer (books and entertainment)
• Housekeeping volunteer

Key tasks

There is a variety of tasks within the above mentioned roles that our volunteers get involved with, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers with their purchases, providing them with great customer service and a delightful shopping experience
• Receiving donated items from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated items for sale
• Creating visually appealing window and in-store displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, clean and coordinated
• Processing sales and serving at the till
• Signing up gift aid donors
• Stock rotation
• Identifying special or valuable items within donated stock

Job description:

We are looking for few candidates to join our volunteer human resource programme and gain real world experience in your chosen field. While we only have few vacancies available through this programme, other options are available if your skills match our criteria.

About the Role

The HR Programme Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the HR Programme and managing the HR Liaison. This position ensures the successful delivery of the HR Programme, aligning it with organisational goals and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. The Programme Manager will work closely with senior leadership, Heads of Department (HoDs), and the HR Liaison to design, implement, and refine the programme, ensuring it meets the needs of participants and the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Oversight of the HR Programme

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for the HR Programme, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
• Collaborate with the Director: HRBP, Legal, IT & HR Programme to define programme goals, KPIs, and success metrics.
• Continuously evaluate and refine the programme to address emerging needs and industry trends.

2. Team Leadership & Management

• Manage and mentor the HR Liaison, providing guidance and support to ensure effective programme execution.
• Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture, encouraging innovation and accountability.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with Heads of Department (HoDs) and external partners to ensure programme relevance and impact.
• Act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, providing regular updates on programme progress and outcomes.

4. Programme Design & Implementation

• Oversee the design and delivery of HR Programme content, ensuring it meets the developmental needs of participants.
• Coordinate with internal and external facilitators to deliver high-quality training sessions, workshops, and resources.
• Ensure the integration of feedback from participants and stakeholders to enhance programme effectiveness.

5. Monitoring & Evaluation

• Establish a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to track participant progress and programme impact.
• Analyse data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for senior leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

6. Communication & Advocacy

• Promote the HR Programme across the organisation, ensuring high visibility and engagement.
• Develop communication strategies to highlight success stories and programme benefits.

Required Skills

• Strategic Thinking: Ability to align the HR Programme with organisational goals and adapt to changing priorities.
• Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience in leading and mentoring teams to achieve results.

As a Volunteer Health Walk Leader, you will play a key role in supporting our residents to become more active and improve their wellbeing through social walks!

Project Resilience provides easily accessible opportunities for our hostel residents to take part in a variety of social and sporting activities to boost overall health and wellbeing.

You’ll help lead short, safe, and friendly group walk, especially for those who may be inactive, recovering from illness, or looking to improve their physical and mental health.

You will:

·Plan and lead regular health walks in your local area

·Welcome and support all participants, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere

·Carry out basic safety checks and risk assessments for walk routes

·Encourage conversation and connection among walkers

Monitor attendance and report back to the coordinator as required

·First Aid Qualification

Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
• Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

Are You Organised, Community Minded & Can Spare A Few Hours A Month?

Become a volunteer activity group coordinator

As an activity group coordinator, you’ll plan, organise and schedule monthly activity groups in your local area. This is a volunteer administrative role that requires communicating and socialising with older people and volunteers from all walks of life.

The activity group will be at the same community venue and will include older people, activity group leads, drivers, and the activity group coordinator. Activity groups normally last around two hours and will include an activity that gets people moving such as: dance, chair exercises, boules, skittles or boccia.

Activity groups are free monthly groups that are open to older people who are lonely, isolated and in need of companionship. Activity groups are a great way for older people to stay active and to make new friends in their local area.

To become an activity group coordinator, you’ll need to:

• Have a 30-minute induction call with a member of the Re-engage team
• Complete an ID check
• Provide a reference
• Complete online volunteer training modules

Tasks include:

• Welcoming and supporting new volunteers into the activity group so they can start volunteering with confidence.
• Welcoming new older people to the activity group and contacting them before their first activity group so that they feel welcome and comfortable.
• Arranging the annual activity group schedule so activity group leads know when it’s their turn to lead the activity, and activity group drivers know which older people they’re collecting and dropping home again after the activity group.
• Matching older people to volunteer drivers, so the same drivers collect and drop off the same older people each month.
• Responding to any issues and queries from the volunteers and older people in the activity group.
• Following the guidance in the online volunteer training so that the activity groups are safe, enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
• Keeping in regular contact with Re-engage and reporting any concerns to the team.
• Promoting the activity group in your local area so we can recruit more volunteers and support more older people.
• Keeping in regular contact with the activity group volunteers and older people and sharing any updates from Re-engage that are relevant to them.
• Completing a short online report about the activity group four times a year.
• Keeping your knowledge and training up to date by reading our monthly volunteer newsletter – Re-engage Matters.

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

• help set up and/or man stalls at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

About YAUK

Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.

Role Overview

We are looking for a London-based Volunteer Social Media Assistant to support our Social Media Manager in growing LIVN Global’s online presence.

This role will combine digital support with on-the-ground content creation, helping us capture real moments from our events, outreach, and community activities. You will play a key role in helping us increase awareness and build a stronger, more engaged community of supporters.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Social Media Manager in planning and scheduling content
• Capture photo and video content at events, outreaches, and key moments across London
• Assist in creating engaging posts (reels, stories, captions, and graphics)
• Help maintain a consistent and compelling social media presence
• Engage with followers through comments and messages where appropriate
• Support campaigns aimed at increasing awareness and growing our community
• Identify content opportunities during live events and activities
• Assist with basic editing of photos and videos for social media use

Person Specification

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is based in or near London and able to attend events and activities in person
• Has an interest in social media, content creation, or digital marketing
• Has experience filming content on a smartphone or camera
• Is creative, proactive, and has a good eye for storytelling
• Has good written communication skills
• Is organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Aligns with the vision and values of LIVN Global
• Can commit at least 14 hours per week

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience editing short-form video content
• Basic design skills (e.g. Canva)
• Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms
• Experience supporting live events or community initiatives

Become the new friendly face in your local Tŷ Hafan charity shop!

This opportunity is a great way to develop new skills and enjoy yourself at the same time.

Our shops generate funds that directly support the whole family, from medical care and therapeutic services for children, to emotional and practical care for families, to sibling support activities & experiences.

Your role will help us continue providing vital care and support to Tŷ Hafan children and their families.

About our Neath Shop:

Our Neath shop is situated on Queen Street in the town's city centre, merely a two-minute stroll from both the bus and train stations.

It is one of our two outlet-style shops, famous in the town for its £1 section, where customers can snag an entire outfit for less than a fiver!

This stock is clearance stock from our other shops and is given a final opportunity in Neath to sell to maximise the most from all our donations.

Hannah leads a team of energetic staff and volunteers, and between them, turnover a huge amount of stock each week.

They make sure that customers have the best shopping experience and leave with a smile on their face. 

Considerations:

Age requirement: 16+

Location: 17 Queen Street, Neath SA11 1DN

Commitment:Our shops operate Monday-Saturday, 9am-4:45pm and we appreciate any time you can spare, but ideally at least 2 hours per week.

Shifts will be discussed during your informal chat.

Background checks: We will ask you to provide us with the details of two referees.

Activities include:

•  Sorting and pricing donations according to our guidelines (or your own knowledge if applicable);
•  Preparing items for sale, including steaming, ironing, tagging and labelling;
•  Moving items to the shop floor;
•  Keeping the stockroom clean and safe;
• Creating attractive displays to showcase our unique donations.

This role is purely voluntary and this arrangement is not meant to be a legally binding one or an employment contract.
