Over the past decade, The Daily Mile Foundation (TDMF) has grown into one of the most successful school-based physical activity initiatives for children globally, helping millions of young people experience the transformational benefits of moving more every day. We are entering an exciting new chapter following the recent decision for TDMF to become part of the London Marathon Foundation – one that brings together two charities with a shared commitment to improving children’s health and wellbeing across the UK and beyond.
As part of the new structure, TDMF will operate as an independent charity within the London Marathon Foundation, with its own dedicated Board of Trustees providing strategic leadership, oversight and support. Working closely with the London Marathon Foundation’s Board, TDMF Trustees will help shape the next phase of the charity’s growth, ensuring The Daily Mile continues to thrive in schools and communities, reaches even more children, and contributes to the wider group strategy and shared mission.
TDMF’s work is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: daily physical activity can change children’s lives. The programme is now delivered in thousands of schools, supported by teachers, local authorities, health partners and national bodies. As we expand our reach and impact, Trustees will play a vital role in safeguarding the integrity of The Daily Mile, strengthening partnerships, building capacity, and ensuring our work continues to benefit the children and communities who need it most.
With the London Marathon Foundation’s long-standing experience in grant making and community impact and TDMF’s proven model for inspiring activity in schools – this new structure creates a unique opportunity to accelerate change. Trustees will help guide how TDMF evolves within the London Marathon Foundation and aligns with its mission, while championing the distinct identity, values and ambitions of The Daily Mile.
The Role

Trustees should be able to commit around 8 days per year, comprised of half day board meetings, ideally attend in person at our offices near London Bridge, preparation for board meetings, and optional attendance at events that are delivered by TDMF and London Marathon Events, including the TCS Mini London Marathon.
If you are interested in making a difference to inspire activity and can contribute strategically on a wide range of issues and demonstrate empathy with the aims and objectives of TDMF and London Marathon Foundation, please see further information via our websites:

These trustee roles are voluntary positions that are home-based with occasional travel to our Reading head office for in person board meetings or to collaborate with PACT colleagues relevant to your lead role (reasonable expenses covered) and support for our events. The time commitment is around one day per month, including quarterly Board meetings and input into wider charity matters. We aim to be flexible and will make adjustments where we can support accessibility and your availability.
For the Safeguarding Lead Trustee role, we would welcome applications from interested individuals who have current strong understanding and experience of safeguarding legislation, especially in children’s social care.
For the Violence Against Women and Girls Trustee role, we are looking for individuals with demonstrable experience of working in this sector, or in closely aligned areas (e.g. domestic abuse, sexual violence, women in the criminal justice system, safeguarding, trauma informed services). You will have a strong understanding of the policy, commissioning and funding landscape relating to this field.
What would you get as a PACT trustee?

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Volunteer Driver, you’ll help transport people to a variety of destinations, including social activities, school, work placements, day trips, from our Bridge College in Openshaw, Manchester. Your time and kindness will help enrich lives, giving those we support greater independence and opportunities to thrive. The role is flexible, and you’ll find it just as fulfilling as the people you support.
Why You’ll Love Volunteering with Us:
Use Your Driving Skills for Good: If you love driving, this is the perfect way to make the most of that passion. No need to worry about the wear and tear on your own vehicle – we provide the cars, minibuses, and MPVs.
No Cost to You: We cover all the running costs of the vehicle, including fuel, and we’ll reimburse your travel expenses to and from the vehicle collection point. All you need to do is bring your enthusiasm!
Flexibility & Structure: Whether you have a few spare hours each week or you’d like to volunteer more frequently, you can choose the journeys and schedule that suit you. Build your week around your volunteering, it’s that simple!
A Sense of Purpose & Fulfillment: There’s nothing quite like knowing that what you’re doing matters. In this role, you’ll experience the satisfaction that comes from knowing you’re making a real difference to someone’s life.
Gain Experience in Social Care: Depending on the services you want to be involved in, you could be helping students from special education, young people from residential homes, or adults with disabilities. It’s a wonderful way to be part of a caring, supportive community.
Meet New People: Volunteering is a great way to connect with others, both the people you’re helping and fellow volunteers. It’s a wonderful way to socialise, and you’ll find that making these connections will uplift your spirits, too.
What You’ll Need:
- A full UK driving licence (held for at least two years) or a D1 entitlement.
- A few hours a week (or more, if you prefer) to give.
- A calm, patient, and friendly attitude.
- Confidence driving larger vehicles (minibuses or MPVs) is ideal, but if you prefer to drive cars, we have those opportunities too.
- For this role, enhanced DBS and background checks are required, ncluding references.
What You’ll Receive:
- Full training and support to help you feel confident in your role.
- Ongoing guidance from our friendly team.
- All expenses fully reimbursed, including travel and fuel costs.
- Access to our fleet of vehicles – no need for your own car.
- A meal allowance if you volunteer for 4 hours or more during a mealtime.
- References upon request to support your future endeavours.
Ready to Make a Difference?
If you can drive and want to help others, we’d love to hear from you! This is a wonderful opportunity to stay active, connected, and engaged, all while making a lasting impact in your local community.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. The King’s Trust couldn’t function as well without the support of thousands of volunteers across the UK, who are able to offer a vital network to young people facing significant barriers to jobs, education or training.
The Wales Volunteering Team is looking for an Operational Volunteer.

You will support essential administrative processes, including linking volunteers to sessions, adding monthly reports to our CRM system Frontline, and maintaining accurate records that underpin our programmes and partnerships.
This role is ideally suited to someone based in Cardiff who can attend The King's Trust Office, supporting the team one or two days a week between Tuesday and Thursday. Your contribution will help ensure volunteers are matched smoothly to opportunities and that our systems and processes operate seamlessly.
By volunteering as an Operational Support you will be supporting with the important work that allows our centres to run efficiently and to support our young people’s needs effectively.
For this role we are specifically looking for someone with a basic knowledge of office administration systems, eg. Outlook, MS Teams and Word. Full training will be given.
