At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, so most of the care that we provide is funded through fundraising and through our shops.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Admin Volunteer to support our People Team and will be based in Drakes Court.

We are particularly seeking individuals with knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Income generation across various fundraising disciplines.
- Charity retail or commercial retail with experience in business development.
- Marketing, communications, PR, or digital marketing.
- Senior strategic leadership experience, ideally at Board level.
Key Attributes
- Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Commitment to ethical responsibility and integrity.
- Understanding of governance and compliance.
Time Commitment
- Quarterly committee meetings (2 hours, online).
- Quarterly Board meetings (3–3.5 hours, in-person preferred).
- Twice-yearly half-day strategy sessions.
- Occasional visits to hospices and shops.

We are looking for volunteers to join our fundraising team at Roberts Farm Shop on Saturday 18th October. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us collect donations at the pumpkin patch whilst supporting our cause in a rewarding environment.
How much time will it take?
- 10.00am – 4.00pm, but you can join us at any point for an hour or two.

Retail & Furniture Assembly Volunteers - A New Volunteer Opportunity in Acorns Children's Hospice Superstore in Pershore
Acorns have a network of shops across the West Midlands that generate a substantial level of income to enable us to care for children and their families.
To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Pershore Superstore. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between. The store is open - Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
What does volunteering involve?
Shop Volunteer
- Engaging with customers

Furniture Assembly Volunteer
- Building and dismantling flat pack furniture

About Candlelighters
Each year, over 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer. When a child is diagnosed, lives are turned upside down instantly: not just for the child but the entire family. Getting well again can be a long and challenging journey, emotionally, physically, and financially.
Supporting children and families throughout that journey is why our charity, Candlelighters, was formed more than 40 years ago. Our mission is to bring light to every family affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire by providing emotional, practical and financial support, as well as bringing hope, by investing in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer.
Purpose of the Role and Key Activities:
Families who have been affected by children’s cancer (including patients, parents, siblings and grandparents) can come to The Square for a coffee and a chat, as well as book and access a variety of support services, including:

As a Front of House Volunteer, you will support the Family Support Worker role and the rest of the Team at Candlelighters with a variety of tasks including (but not limited to):

Meeting and greeting families and other visitors

Making drinks for families and visitors

Answering the telephone, transferring calls and taking messages

Making bookings and updating our database
-
Keeping the reception area clean and tidy

Keeping the kitchen, meeting rooms and other communal areas clean and tidy

Cleaning and maintaining the coffee machine
-
Setting up rooms for meetings and events
-
Assisting the Team with other tasks and activities as required

Maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to Candlelighters’ policies and procedures

Checking stock levels and dates in Champs Pantry

Re-stocking refreshments and drinks
We are looking for volunteers who:

We recognise that family members accessing Candlelighters’ services may wish to volunteer with Candlelighters. However, this role is not suitable for family members receiving support from Candlelighters. What you will be doing
- Work on the till processing sales and returns
- Prepare stock, including sorting, steaming and pricing
- Create stylish window displays
- Replenish stock on the shop floor
- Stock-take and other administrative tasks

Our retail stores are the face of our charity on the high-street and in local communities. We have loads of amazing stock donated to us every week, and this all needs to be sorted, tagged and put on the shop-floor for sale!
Making sure our shops look fantastic is another task you can get involved with. You may also be required to help out on the till too, but we will show you how that works during your time volunteering with us. We value the contribution of everyone who supports Barnardo’s.
