Job description

Young Carers Manager

Location: Wokingham, Reading

Salary: £24,000 - £25,000 + 35p per mile fuel

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, occasional weekends plus evenings

Working hours: 37.5 per week-

What does this role involve?

  • To lead and take a hands on approach in developing the services – Have a clear vision how you can develop the current service, working with the Young Carers and their families to meet their needs and shape their service
  • Line manage and support all the Young Carers Officer and Volunteers within this service
  • Facilitate groups for Young Carers on personal health and wellbeing and other subjects as the contract requires or needs are identified
  • Run drop-ins on a Monday and Friday with activities
  • Participate in Weekend away at Young Carers festival organised by the YMCA
  • Attend monitoring meetings on behalf of CTEM with Local Authority
  • Set up support groups within schools with young carers and support teachers to take over these groups
  • Promote our services at events such as Young Carer Awareness Day and Carers week

Do you have the following skills? Then we want to hear from you!

  • Experience of managing and shaping services
  • Staff management experience including Supervision and staff development
  • Experience of working and actively engaging Young Carers
  • Experience of working with child protection issues
  • Understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014
  • Understanding of Youth Mental Health and emotional support
  • Knowledge and understanding of the rights of young carers including statutory assessments
  • Ability to build relationships/rapport with the youth
