Special conditions: Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu (TOIL) will be granted. Some travel will be required which may entail some overnight stays.

Since 1979, AdviceUK has been supporting advice organisations by helping them to be efficient, competent and effective, and by campaigning for a policy environment that supports advice agencies and people needing advice.

We are both a membership body and charity. We support our 700+ members (109 of which are located in Scotland) to provide advice to around 2 million people every year. We are working towards a world in which every individual, regardless of means, is able to access the advice they need to exercise their rights and deal with any legal and social welfare challenges they may face. 

JOB PURPOSE  

To set up and manage our policy and public affairs activities in Scotland ensuring AdviceUK has a strong voice, so we can secure policy change to benefit organisations delivering advice and the communities they serve. The post holder will be responsible for establishing AdviceUK’s first policy and influencing strategy for Scotland, including through developing policy solutions informed by strong evidence and rooted in member experience, and leading effective political and stakeholder engagement which will influence change. They will work closely with colleagues across the UK to join up policy, influencing and communications work. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

1.Strategy 

1.1 Develop AdviceUK’s first policy and influencing strategy for Scotland, through consultation with members and stakeholders and analysis of the landscape and opportunities in Scottish policy making. 

1.2 Put plans in place to roll out a specific programme of proactive and reactive policy work to further AdviceUK’s strategic aims in Scotland and represent the voices of Scottish members. 

1.3 Devise measures to monitor the impact of our policy and influencing work in Scotland and report back to staff, trustees, members and stakeholders about the difference we are making. 

2.Policy development 

2.1 Collaborate with AdviceUK members, partners, sector stakeholders and 

beneficiaries to develop clear, concise and authoritative policy positions on key issues. 

2.2 Produce high-quality, well-argued policy materials based on data and evidence, including reports, select committee responses, evidence statements, briefings and responses to Scottish Government consultations. 

2.3 Provide policy input for media statements, press releases and social media posts relating to Scotland, which are managed by the Press Officer and Digital Marketing Officer.

2.4 Develop an expert knowledge of policy issues affecting Advice UK members, keep up to date on the political and legislative environment and identify opportunities to use these to further Advice UK’s strategic objectives. 

2.5 Represent AdviceUK at policy and/or sector meetings and events.

3. Public affairs 

3.1 Roll out a programme of public affairs work including Scottish parliamentary engagement to promote AdviceUK’s strategic priorities. 

3.2 Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the Scottish Government and parliament, local and decision makers, non-governmental bodies and other relevant stakeholders. 

3.3 Champion an evidence based approach to all Advice UK’s advocacy and external relations work, drawing on research and member insight to inform our campaign messages. 

3.4 Ensure regular opportunities for Advice UK members in Scotland to feed into our public affairs and advocacy work, and regular communications on our impact, to demonstrate how we amplify their voice. 

3.5 Monitor and evaluate public affairs work, including collecting relevant metrics, to report back on our success and inform future campaigns. 

4. Research and data 

4.1 Work with Policy, Programme and Media (PPM) colleagues as well as the wider AdviceUK team to develop the evidence base needed to inform our policy and campaigns work in Scotland. 

4.2 Work with the Research and Policy Analyst to carry out analysis that identifies emerging trends in the Scottish advice world and use this to provide evidence-based policy briefings and specific policy solutions. 

5. General duties 

5.1 Ensure you effectively communicate Advice UK’s vision, mission and objectives to staff, members and external stakeholders.

5.2 Ensure you demonstrate Advice UK’s values and behaviours in all aspects of your work

5.3 Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders including staff trustees; members, partners and suppliers 

5.4 With support from your manager, deliver your agreed personal objectives and undertake any agreed development or training

5.5 Maintain a strong understanding of our members and the advice sector more generally, by reading internal reports; accessing relevant data reports; following our social media channels and, where possible, attending member and other relevant events. With the agreement of you line manager, ensure you make time to speak to members and visit their services.

Job Summary

This role forms a key part of a new Strategy & Insight Team at Bowel Cancer UK, which seeks to build core capabilities to enable us to be as effective as we can be for people affected by bowel cancer. The Audience Insight Specialist will be an internal leader, building our capability to understand our core audiences and the people we need to reach to achieve our strategic goals. You will support a cultural shift in how the charity takes an audience-led approach to planning, decision-making, and communications, as our CRM, data infrastructure, and Strategy & Insight functions continue to develop. Making best use of internal and external sources, you will distil data into meaningful insight, tailored to different audiences. You will support a consistent approach to audiences across the organisation, while flexing to meet the needs of different teams, ensuring that any understanding of audience is rooted in evidence.

Senior Events and Community Fundraising Officer

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive community and events fundraiser with great project management and relationship building skills. You’ll be responsible for leading on a varied portfolio of fundraising activity, identifying new supporters, stewarding existing supporters and delivering community fundraising products and campaigns. 

Events and Community Fundraising is an established income stream at Breast Cancer UK but we know there is potential to grow, so we’re investing in proactively developing the area. This role is an opportunity for a talented fundraiser - with at least three years of experience working in Challenge Events and/or Community Fundraising and a strong track record of delivering results – to take a lead on these income streams and build something amazing. We are recruiting for a Senior Research Communications Manager to join on a full-time, permanent contract working 35 hours per week. This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required for conferences, events and in-person stakeholder or team meetings.

As Senior Research Communications Manager you will champion our research. By making complex science accessible, engaging and meaningful you will ensure breakthroughs are widely understood and effectively communicated. You will translate evidence into inspiring stories, positioning Alzheimer’s Society as a trusted leader in dementia research and motivating more people to join us in driving change.

In this new role, you will lead our organisational approach to research communications, working strategically and collaboratively across the charity to embed research narratives across major organisational priorities and campaigns. You will manage and develop the research communications team, creating an environment where people feel supported, empowered and able to contribute their best work.

Your leadership and in-house expertise will ensure that research communications activity is insight-led and effectively integrated with wider communications channels and audiences. You will oversee the translation of complex research portfolios into clear, audience-led messaging. By representing Alzheimer’s Society at conferences, events and in the media, you will help to raise the profile of our research and ensure it resonates across internal and external audiences.

About you

Your role 

You will be responsible for the management, development and delivery of marketing and communications to support CWNN’s fundraising strategy. You’ll work alongside our Development Manager to create compelling fundraising campaigns, content and communications, growing engagement from individuals, companies, community fundraisers and potential funders while simultaneously raising our profile among stakeholders through strategic communications and marketing plans. This work includes:   

• Work alongside our Development Manager to create and deliver impactful and innovative fundraising strategies including our public appeals, challenge events and local fundraising campaigns.

• Developing and implementing communications strategies to promote CWNN’s work, managing our social media platforms and external comms to ensure they reflect our strategic goals and values. 

• Producing our supporter e-newsletter, with support from the Development team, to ensure CWNN’s key work, impact, news and campaigns are effectively promoted to our supporter base.

• Create engaging digital content for our website and social media including written copy, video and graphics, to drive engagement, increase awareness and generate income.

• Capturing and analysing key campaign engagement KPIs to inform future strategies and approaches to best engage existing and new audiences.

•  Produce quarterly comms impact overview for senior management and trustee reports.

• Create marketing materials for external use, eg. corporate pitch documents, fundraising packs, gig programmes, flyers and posters using Canva.

• Co-creating case studies, supporting members to share their stories, their way, amplifying their voices and demonstrating the impact of our choirs to stakeholders.

• Co-lead our co-produced ‘Digital Storytellers’ programme with our Community Participation Manager, supporting members to manage their own local social media accounts, sharing their stories and raising awareness of their choirs to new audiences.

• Maintain, organise and populate CWNN’s media library and YouTube channel.

• Write and distribute press releases to both regional and national press and media, fielding media enquiries and building our media contacts.

• Oversight of the day to day content management and maintenance of the website

• Co-ordinate our internal communications programme and internal newsletter, working with senior leadership team.

About you 

Essential:

• You’ll have a proven track record in delivering successful, innovative and impactful charity communications content and strategies.
• You’ll have a good understanding of how fundraising and engagement campaigns can convert individuals into donors and advocates.

About the role

Sitting within the Community & Events Team, and more broadly the Income & Engagement Department, the Community Fundraising Officer plays a vital role in supporting the long-term growth, development, and delivery of Sands’ community fundraising activities.

This is a new role at Sands, and it is an exciting time to join our growing team. This role will support acquisition activity, national campaign delivery and provide outstanding stewardship to fundraisers, community group and Sands groups, maximising their fundraising efforts and strengthening their relationship to Sands. You will also support the development of Sands regional fundraising approach, providing operational and administrative support to the Community Fundraising Manager.

The role is key to enabling the scaling of national community campaigns, enhancing supporter led fundraising activity, delivering high quality supporter stewardship, and supporting the future development of Sands’ emerging regional fundraising model.

Main Responsibilities

Community Fundraising Delivery & Growth

• Working with the Community Fundraising Manager, develop and deliver a community fundraising strategy for both new and existing activities.
• Support and assist with the delivery of Sands' community fundraising portfolio, ensuring activities are monitored and excellent supporter experience is given so to maximise impact and growth of each product.

The role

 We are seeking an experienced Manager of Philanthropic Giving with a strong track record in securing major gifts. The ideal candidate will excel at building trusted, long-term relationships with donors and feel confident leading conversations that result in significant philanthropic support. This role will also contribute to the development and delivery of a trusts and foundations strategy, helping to grow and strengthen our portfolio.

Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership and trustees, you will develop compelling funding propositions, steward donors and funders through excellent reporting and engagement, and represent myaware at meetings, events and networking opportunities. You will also maintain accurate records through our CRM system, track performance against targets, and contribute to income planning and reporting. This is a strategic and hands-on role with real impact for people affected by myasthenia.

The Manager of Philanthropic Giving will be predominantly home based within the UK (with occasional working and meetings at Derby HQ) and will work in co-operation with the fundraising team and all myaware colleagues to deliver agreed fundraising targets and campaigns. Own transport is essential for this role as occasional travel throughout the UK will be required to attend donor meetings, events and networking opportunities, as well as the ability to travel to the Derby office. There may be the need to occasionally work during weekends and evenings and therefore there is a need to work flexibly when required.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated fundraising professional with a strong track record in major donor fundraising along with experience in Trusts and Foundations fundraising. You will have experience in personal communication in asking for high level funds, and experience of stewarding high net worth individuals to maintain high levels of engagement over a significant period. You will have experience of Trusts and Foundations fundraising including pipeline management and stewardship, writing compelling funding applications and impact reports.

You will be a strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal, research and organisational skills, confident managing a complex pipeline and working collaboratively across teams. You will be comfortable working independently, using CRM systems, and engaging senior stakeholders, including trustees and high-level donors. Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. 

We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition. 

We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.

Job Purpose

The Group Head of Marketing and Communications is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering an excellent quality, high impact approach to integrated marketing, brand and communications across the TLC Group.

About the role
We are recruiting for a Senior Conferences and Events Manager to join on a full-time, 35 hours per week, maternity cover contract for 12 months. This is a home-based role, with monthly travel required for conferences, events and in-person stakeholder or team meetings.

As Senior Conference and Events Manager you will be responsible on the strategic delivery of an annual portfolio of conferences and events, which range from Society owned conferences and events, to external public and professional events and conferences. You will work to maximise engagement and influencing opportunities for our research and influencing stakeholders, including a national conference, research events and roundtables.

In this role you will oversee and line manage the Conferences and Events team, in addition to overseeing business and financial planning and monitoring. You will be responsible for budget management of the events programmes, including setting, managing, reporting on and reforecasting the team budget.

By working collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders you will ensure the voice of those affected by dementia is considered appropriately in the events we deliver and attend. You will plan the involvement of lived experience across all events, including co-producing all or parts of the conferences and events we deliver. In addition to this, you will build in meaningful equality, diversity and inclusion into our conferences and events programme, ensuring that our events are inclusive to all attendees, and representative of a diverse range of voices.

About you
Joining us, you’ll have experience of working at a senior level in an events role and experience managing budgets effectively and using project management skills to remain organised. Role Purpose

Responsible for helping to ensure the effective delivery of the Regional Fundraising strategy in relation to generating sustainable income from third parties and campaigns. You will primarily focus on recruiting support from community groups and associations, businesses and individuals across the South as well as supporting the growth and diversity of the challenge events portfolio.

You will plan, market, deliver and grow your portfolio ensuring all objectives, financial and non-financial are achieved, with an active focus on cost-effective ideas, growth and contingency plans.

Working closely with our service delivery teams across the UK to develop fundraising lead networks, building a robust and community driven income pipeline. You will build powerful, local relationships across your region, and ensure every supporter has an exceptional fundraising experience.

Main Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of a fundraising plan to maximise income generation across the designated area, in line with the overall fundraising strategy.
• Build knowledge of Child Bereavement UK supporters in the area and develop a community of supporters who have a tangible relationship with our work.
• Build relationships with individual supporters, community organisations, faith groups, schools and education facilities, regional corporates and challenge event participants.
• Contribute to the development of annual income and expenditure budgets, monitoring results and contributing to regular reforecasts, mitigation and contingency planning to ensure budget is achieved.
• Attract new support and nurture and develop existing support by providing excellent stewardship to maximise supporter journey, value and retention and in-turn income.
• Work alongside the Head of Regional Fundraising and Challenge Event team to develop and promote successful and engaging off-the-shelf fundraising initiatives, campaigns, and challenge events to engage and encourage potential supporters, using research to spot trends and popular initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with the Challenge Event team and Communications team to develop and implement marketing and social media plans for all events/activities.
• Analyse the potential risks and benefits of fundraising events/activities considering risk, time/cost ratios, and overall ROI, to focus effort accordingly.
• Ensure all associated activities are compliant with charity law, regulatory requirements, and best practice, including Data Protection Act and GDPR.
• Develop and follow processes and systems to ensure the effective management of all relevant information, including maintaining and assuming responsibility for accurate information on the charity’s Sales Force database and the community section of the website.
• Work with the Head of Regional Fundraising to recruit Fundraising Committees across the region.
• Support with the recruitment of Community Ambassadors.

Person Specification

Essential

• Ability to self-motivate and organise yourself to manage multiple priorities, to set and meet deadlines in order to keep projects moving forwards.
• Experience in at least one of: fundraising, sales, partnerships, business development, or community engagement.
• Confidence and experience in public speaking, both offline and online, and demonstratable ability to represent a cause to a wide range of audiences.
• Outstanding relationship-building skills and an ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively and creatively.
• Experience of working to targets and managing budgets.
• A positive, proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Experience in community fundraising or charity income generation
• Experience of delivering a regional-focused role in the same geographic area
• Experience of managing and supporting volunteers.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and data management

First Stage Screening Interviews

You may be asked to attend a 10-minute Screening Interview on MS Teams with the Hiring Managers for the vacancy, to assess your suitability for the role. During the interview, you will be asked two skills-based questions.

Second Stage Interviews

If you are progressed to a second stage interview, you will be invited to attend a 1-hour formal interview on MS Teams with the Hiring Managers for the role. It is our policy to share the role-specific interview questions with applicants ahead of the interview, to aid their preparation. You may also be asked to complete an interview task, which will also be shared with you in advance.
